Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my spot in the kitchen. The fridge is very whirry this morning 🙄 and I have the window open so I can hear the birds outside.

My plans for today are to do pretty much nothing. It's the first day of the Easter hols & I'm still rough 😢Hopefully the tablets from my GP will help.

There's some washing to do and washing up from last night, so we'll tackle those when everyone's up & can share.

Other than that, I want to start a crochet pattern and alternate between that and snoozing on the sofa 🧶

I expect the girls will sleep late today - dd2's definitely worn out. I'm going to try and encourage them to get homework out of the way too, then we have two weeks of nothing to do!

No idea what's for tea yet. Bland and boring for me again though 😢in a bid not to upset my stomach.

What about all of you? 🙂

Last day of a long awaited holiday....so, packing and travelling back and then the lovely piles of washing to contend with! Had a great time though!

WeThreeKingsofOrientAre · 01/04/2023 08:39

Drinking a cuppa whilst putting running clothes on then heading out to the park fir about an hour. Not sure after that!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 01/04/2023 08:43

Good morning Lucysmam. I'm sorry to hear that you are still feeling unwell. Today I'm off to an all day art workshop where I'll be attempting figure drawing. Then salad for dinner later.

Coffee now.
And some more coffee.
Hour of reading not had time this week.

I intend on not leaving the house today after a busy week. Might leave it tomorrow! (Actually have to leave it tomorrow) today is chilled get ready to go away for 3 nights admin, household chores, and Sunday roast shifted today because won't have time on Monday to eat leftover meat.

Slimjimtobe · 01/04/2023 08:51

hope you start to feel better soon lucysmam
sorry to hear that

no major plans here as I have a curry done. I will go for a swim at some stage. I played a bit of an April fool on the kids

don’t know what I’ll do with myself really

Chelsea26 · 01/04/2023 08:52

Currently in bed waiting for DP to bring me up some coffee. DS1’s football training has been cancelled due to soggy pitch so no need to get for another hour until our neighbour comes over for a shower (her boiler is broken)

Later my uni friends and their kids are coming over for lunch, kids are having sausage and chips and we’re having Thai baked chicken and white and wild rice.

The boys are off to their dads later so just me and DP tonight. We’ll probably lay on the sofa and watch masterchef because we’re wild like that!

lucysmam · 01/04/2023 08:55

@Slimjimtobe I would love a curry...my stomach says otherwise though 🙄

@Chelsea26 tell me about the Thai baked chicken...for when my stomach isn't churning away, please!

I'm on holiday in a small cottage next to a forest ....all I can hear is bird song !!
Weather is rain, rain, and more rain ...sigh
Just made hubby a cup of tea and taken it to him ..I'm watching TV

SquidwardBound · 01/04/2023 09:01

I’m on a local train with DS3 going to his swimming lesson. I have asked DS2 to do some housework while we are out - so I’m anticipating having to nag him to do it again properly later.

Ragwort · 01/04/2023 09:02

Same as most Saturdays ... I work in retail (feel I have to point that out as another thread has commented 'where are the shop workers on Mumsnet?' Grin). I actually love working Saturdays as there is a really nice buzz in the shop ... charity shop so always interesting.

Tonight my DH will be on a Zoom call, I will get my new favourite pizza for dinner with wine and watch a couple of dramas on tv. My ideal Saturday night!

Anjo2011 · 01/04/2023 09:02

Morning all. Having a brew whilst waiting for my grocery delivery. DD1 still sleeping, DD2 and DH have gone to football training. I have lots of washing to do today, weather is rubbish so no chance of hanging it outside. Wish the weather was better so I could do some gardening. Have a good day everyone.

legofrostqueen · 01/04/2023 09:08

Good morning - love these threads @lucysmam

Already been on a lovely walk up to the moors with the dog to tire him out.

Expecting a quiet weekend as poor DH has a couple of broken ribs following a fall from a stepladder while painting the ceiling a couple of weeks ago, so has to take it very easy.

DS age 17 was out with mates last night, heard him come in around 1am. Will let him sleep in as he is working tonight & tomorrow, in a local restaurant which will be busy.

I'll be catching up on ironing, tidying, & will be baking a Dorset Apple Cake to take to work on Monday. DH will cook a fish pie tonight, & we are planning to watch Everything Everywhere All at Once this evening.

Happy Saturday!

Crunchymum · 01/04/2023 09:10

Hope you are feeling better soon @lucysmam so much going around still. We've hopefully dodged chicken pox which was doing the rounds in the 5yo's class a few weeks back 🤞

It's been such a long term (I think the rotten weather hasn't helped) and we're all just exhausted, so I've planned a lazy weekend. We have swimming lessons soon and we need to return some library books. I also want to grab something for dinner so I'll nip to the shops when DP finishes work this afternoon.

Kids have loads of craft stuff to do so we'll crack that open later and maybe bake some biscuits.

Just easy and low key today.

Tomorrow we are visiting inlaws for a roast as they are away for Easter so we'll all be fed and watered tomorrow. Need to plan a few things for the holidays. I had second week booked but I'm now off the whole two weeks and realise I need to entertain 3 little people for 16 days.

IseeBrigadoon · 01/04/2023 09:14

I am off to Manchester with a friend to take her the John Rylands Library as she’s never been before. Pretty sure there will be a bit of food (and wine) too!

Mimosa08 · 01/04/2023 09:16

Morning
I'm in bed on mn
I can hear dh banging around downstairs
I can hear ds2 in his room
Ds1 is still asleep. He's had a very busy march with university essays etc
We are all absolutely shattered...dh was yawning constantly yesterday.
He is off for a week and we are all going on a city break for 3 days next week
Not much to do as I did lots of cleaning on Friday and loads of washing yesterday
Ds1 is phoning to enquire about a job later today during his university holidays
I need to put oil in my car
That's about it

vkx · 01/04/2023 09:17

It's the month of Ramadhan, so just an easy swift day. Spot of housework, cleaning, entertaining a two year old. I will be cooking later.
The fast breaks at 7.40pm. I think a nice hearty lasagne with some fresh garlic bread is on the menu. Otherwise just your average Saturday. :)

TobiasForgesContactLense · 01/04/2023 09:18

We are really busy today. After DS's swimming lesson and lunch we are going to a lego event. Not sure what to expect but DH and DS are excited.

Then I need to pick up MIL as she is babysitting tonight as DH and I are going out out to see a comedian.

Alsonification · 01/04/2023 09:19

Good morning all.
I am just about to go to my parents to help reroof my dads shed with my brothers then home for the arsenal match at 3pm.
After that I'll do some housework and make dinner for myself & ds. Dd going to stay in her boyfriends house for the weekend so myself & ds will probably watch a movie tonight.

Decafflatteplease · 01/04/2023 09:20

Sorry to hear you're still not well @lucysmam is the GP doing any tests?

I'm so excited about today...im going away for the weekend on my own for a much needed rest! I've booked an air BnB in the country, planned out a 5 mile walk with a pub half way round and taking my sewing and book and just having a mental rest and a full night sleep!

lucysmam · 01/04/2023 09:29

@Decafflatteplease not yet - 2 weeks of rattling like a pill bottle first, then back if no better. I'm so bloody uncomfy & bored of bland food!

Anyway, enjoy your weekend, it sounds lovely!

Good morning everyone, we’re driving to just outside Stockholm, we’re in Hamburg this morning, last night we drove to Antwerp and stopped over, once we’re back on the road after some food I’m hoping to get to Stockholm with only a few short breaks. It’s our campers first trip abroad and the dogs first trip too.

We’re hoping to move to Sweden, so we spend as much time as possible there in the school holidays, luckily we can work from home and we only have two days when our work overlaps, so we can generally get away with one day each of annual leave a week.

Grandma is joining us on this trip, she’s flying in tonight, so it will be really nice to have us here so she can see where we’ll be living, it will also be the first time she meets by husbands grand parents and Aunt, so that will be really nice.

charabang · 01/04/2023 10:40

I'm in a not so nice part of town getting the car MOTd after my usual garage let me down. It's decidely dodgy out on the street but I'm sat under a fiercesome heater in reception watching life go by. Hoping to rejoin my people at the garden centre after being fleeced for a new balljoint.

bellalou1234 · 01/04/2023 10:57

Late shift at work. I hate a late on a Saturday. Hopefully it's an OK shift

Kim82 · 01/04/2023 11:28

Morning everyone.

It’s our usual Saturday morning here. The food shop has been delivered and put away, dh is at work, me, dd18 and dd8 are up and about but none of us are dressed yet, dd15 is still asleep. I need to nip out to buy some cat food and strawberries (neither came with the food shop) and drop a birthday card with cash in at my sister’s for my nephew, then just a day of doing as little as possible really. I think we’re going to go to the local Wetherspoons for a cheap and cheerful tea tonight and then dd18 has work later. We’ll probably watch a film tonight; possibly with a glass of wine and that’s as exciting as it gets for us today.
