Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my spot in the kitchen. The fridge is very whirry this morning 🙄 and I have the window open so I can hear the birds outside.

My plans for today are to do pretty much nothing. It's the first day of the Easter hols & I'm still rough 😢Hopefully the tablets from my GP will help.

There's some washing to do and washing up from last night, so we'll tackle those when everyone's up & can share.

Other than that, I want to start a crochet pattern and alternate between that and snoozing on the sofa 🧶

I expect the girls will sleep late today - dd2's definitely worn out. I'm going to try and encourage them to get homework out of the way too, then we have two weeks of nothing to do!

No idea what's for tea yet. Bland and boring for me again though 😢in a bid not to upset my stomach.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all! Sorry you've been unwell @lucysmam

I'm still in bed. I have absolutely no reason to get up whatsoever unfortunately. Nothing to do and nowhere to go. I have told myself off, however, and promised myself a shower before 12noon. So, I have ten minutes left!

Happy weekend everyone!

FreezyWater · 01/04/2023 11:59

Just about to go to bed here. I've spent two weeks with my best friend and her beautiful DC and will be flying home tomorrow. I have cried most of today about leaving her (again), cried because I'll be reunited with my own DC after 2 weeks apart, and cried because DH and I are seperating so when I finally get home, things will be changing.
For the better I hope but very sad all at the same time. I wish I had a magic wand to make it all OK again. (and lose 20lbs while I'm at it!)

Show at the theatre then dinner :)

I’m sitting with a coffee waiting for the washing machine to finish. House is spotless, garlic and lemon whole chicken in the slow cooker and nothing else needs doing. We’re heading out for a walk later (including a stop somewhere for coffee and cake). DD is at work (local cafe) and DH has gone to buy some new trousers in town. Tonight we have some Church friends coming for dinner (the aforementioned chicken with veg and roast potatoes) as we have an informal ‘meeting’ about our youth summer camp in August to go through a few things - namely planning the days out when there (Dorset). We’ll probably catch up with some telly later.

CallieQ · 01/04/2023 12:31

Off on family holiday to Devon... hope it doesn't rain!

It’s this recipe @lucysmam - very easy and quick and very tasty. Try it when you feel better (soon I hope!)

Thanks for this I used to make it but haven't for a while.. it's really good!

LiliLil · 01/04/2023 12:35

I have an assignment due Monday so will be spending most of my weekend in front of my laptop (and procrastinating on MN)

The kids have gone to a trampoline park with their dad so I’ve got some peace.

No idea what’s for tea, I need to fit a food shop in somewhere.

Better get back to it <sigh>. Have a lovely day everyone

Eggsley · 01/04/2023 12:47

We've had football training this morning, then I went for my first run in about 20 years. Just did a mixture of walking and running but I quite enjoyed it and looking forward to building it up.

Just had prawn wraps for l

Eggsley · 01/04/2023 12:48

Oops, pressed post too soon..

Just had prawn wraps for lunch, DC have haircuts this afternoon. Need to pop to Tesco and get some Easter eggs. No plans this afternoon. Chilli for dinner and maybe a film later.

Hope you're feeling better soon @lucysmam

mamaduckbone · 01/04/2023 13:01

Sorry you're still feeling rough @lucysmam.
I'm doing precisely nothing today - first day of the holidays and I'm exhausted.

I did go for my morning run as it's a regular arrangement with a friend, but since then have drunk tea, had a bath and gone back to bed with my book.

Dh and ds1 have just gone out to rugby, ds2 is sharing my sentiments of a full on slob out day. I've got a bit of laundry to sort, pulled pork is in the slow cooker for dinner and that's it.

lucysmam · 01/04/2023 13:04

Everyone's food for the day sounds amazing right now! I really want something exciting and tasty that won't irritate my stomach. I didn't think I was that into cooking but I'm really missing trying out new things in the kitchen!

I've just got back from a long walk with the dogs, we stopped for a coffee and cake on the way home and I feel slightly sick. Later I'm taking my dd1 out to the town to get something for her birthday. It's on Monday but I've not bought anything yet as my DP died suddenly 2 weeks ago and I've been in a bit of a state.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 01/04/2023 13:31

Hope you feel better soon @lucysmam - you’ve been poorly quite a while, haven’t you? So sorry about your DP redastherose*
I’m not very well today. DH took the day off to look after me & has been great. I do feel more human than when I woke up. Had a weetabix with warm milk & some honey a little while ago & contemplating having a shower/washing my hair. Supposed to be working today. DD14 is on a sleepover about an hour’s drive away & I was collecting her after my shift but now DH will go. An Indian takeaway at friends has been postponed. I’ll probably have soup & DH will sort himself out. The freezer is chock a block! DD nearly always makes her own food & eats on her own. Tonight we’ll watch Ant & Dec then Starstruck. Maybe some more Greys Anatomy.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 01/04/2023 13:31

Highlighted the wrong words!

alanabennett · 01/04/2023 13:32

We had four inches of snow overnight so I'm having a cup of tea and cursing the weather gods. Later I'm going to church for a passion play rehearsal... other than that just family time.

AreMyDucksinarow · 01/04/2023 13:34

Weather has been absolutely awful today, so I have snuggled up on the sofa with dc2 (under the electric blanket thingy) and watched a film.

Have to go shopping at some point

Deathraystare · 01/04/2023 13:35

Finished one lot of laundry at the launderette. Lugged 2 more for the laundry man to do. It will cost me £30 but worth it not to do it myself as I am now in work My reward was some buffalo milk ice cream in a pub. Beautifully creamy! Almost fudge like

Bodybags · 01/04/2023 13:40

Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning!
washing out on the line, veg curry in the slow cooker, I’ve also moved some stuff ready for the tip, put grass seed down in the back garden and watching Handmaids Tale.
I run off and do a job at each ad break.

Had delicious home made soup for lunch (last Sundays slow cooker effort)

Windows open as it’s warm and sunny here.
Im enjoying my Saturday Thankyou for asking

LiliLil · 01/04/2023 13:47

@redastherose I’m so sorry for your loss x

devildeepbluesea · 01/04/2023 13:50

Hope you’re better soon @lucysmam !

Took the dog out early doors, the DD and I went into the next town for breakfast then a mooch around the shops. I’m still full so will skip lunch. I’m just about to take the dog out again, then I think DD and I will wander up the pub for a couple of drinks and some tea, then home for PJs and a film.

WhatFreshHeckle · 01/04/2023 13:52

I did a little online shopping (need some new jeans and work trousers). Shaved my hairy legs and cleaned.

Taking my 5yo to a birthday party a bit later then hoping for an early night

peanutbutterkid · 01/04/2023 14:08

About 3 hours volunteering related this morning. Maybe 4-5 hours even.
swimming
shoe & other shopping with DS
make us tea
watch telly

I should draft cover letter for job I'm applying for, too

Giggorata · 01/04/2023 14:24

Good afternoon, lucysmam and all.
Hope you feel better soon lucysmam, you have had this for a long time, so sorry to hear it is still with you.

I should be doing laundry and housework today but I cricked my upper back earlier on and it bloody hurts (it's a weak spot) so I have a great excuse to watch the Snooker all afternoon and evening (like I need one 😀)

I will knock up a quick eggs on toast for brunch during the interval. And shove a wash on, but when it comes to bed changing, that's not happening today.

DH is mending a gate this afternoon and doing salmon fish cakes with sweet chilli sauce for dinner this evening

Lola001 · 01/04/2023 14:56

My little girl is starting to play independently so my house is full of toy noises, it's been a long time in the making and I couldn't be happier. Even though I might need a new floor after she's bashed her toy 🤣

rainbowruthie · 01/04/2023 15:09

@redastherose I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers
My day thus far has been cleaning, cleaning and then a bit more cleaning...oh and I did some cleaning!
