Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my spot in the kitchen. The fridge is very whirry this morning 🙄 and I have the window open so I can hear the birds outside.

My plans for today are to do pretty much nothing. It's the first day of the Easter hols & I'm still rough 😢Hopefully the tablets from my GP will help.

There's some washing to do and washing up from last night, so we'll tackle those when everyone's up & can share.

Other than that, I want to start a crochet pattern and alternate between that and snoozing on the sofa 🧶

I expect the girls will sleep late today - dd2's definitely worn out. I'm going to try and encourage them to get homework out of the way too, then we have two weeks of nothing to do!

No idea what's for tea yet. Bland and boring for me again though 😢in a bid not to upset my stomach.

What about all of you? 🙂

I felt rough late last night and at 4am when I'd been up for a few hours I tested positive for Covid.

First day of my Easter holidays too as I work in a school. Meant to be going to IKEA and doing some decorating, but that will have to wait.

So far today I've stayed in bed, slept and listened to podcasts, so not all bad. Want to feel better so I can crack on though!

I'm so sorry for your loss too. Wishing you & your daughter strength & comfort.

Drove 2 .5 hours home from a very wet week’s holiday, DH hates satnavs, he was supposed to be map reading but he got us hopelessly lost twice so I used the satnav - that’s the last time he map reads 🙄. It should have taken less than 2 hours.
Unpacked the car and started doing the washing but I feel absolutely exhausted so have ground to a halt.
Ocado shop between 7 and 8 then I will be heading for bed!

Football all morning for the DCs and helping out at the club. I have been feeing rough for days so resting up as much as possible today trying to get better.
dog walk later, cutting DC3’s hair , then a bath, easy dinner and probably some tv.

Tomorrow probably much the same and packing for a mini break to London next week.

Collected my new glasses from a high street optician and they look and feel great and I'm really happy with them.

I requested a plain lense with a focal length of 75cms ( 30 inches ) max distance they focus to))and had a quick chat with an optician who suggested I have lenses which focus up to 75cms which I agreed to purchase but I did not realise this would double the cost from £65.00 to £130.00 for lenses and frames.

I asked to pay by Klarna and there was a hell of a queue for the adviser to get through as klarna does a credit check,.......this worked out in my favour because it gave me the chance to ask more questions.

I told them I just wanted basic lenses, I was not given a break down of prices so they just took it upon themselves to sieze an oppertunity to charge be double the amount of money than what I wanted

I mentioned a few times the cost of living crisis because I heard other customers mentioning universal credit, I wanted to keep costs to a minimum.

People need to be really careful at the moment they are not paying more for lenses than they need to, due agressive or missleading selling tactics at these high street opticians.

I was lucky this time, I came away with a nice pair of glasses with the cheaper lenses and the really great news is I only paid £65 and they do focus up to a distance of under 75cms; as I can the screen clearly, despite me being lead to believe otherwise.

Day 1 of the Easter Holidays here. We went to the park and it rained (luckily had waterproofs in car)... DS enjoyed it... Myself less so.
Indoor role play area was much more pleasent (limit is 15 children)... DS played nicely with others and I had a coffee and tea cake in peace.
Home to heating on (first time since Feb half term but I am miserably cold and can't get warm) with films, toys and snuggle Blankets.
Tonight... I'm alone with DC so once youngest is asleep I'm having a gin and early night.
Not very exciting or active but the perfect first day off for me.

Late to reply to this today, but I hope you had a lovely one, @lucysmam!

I had a bit of a lie in today, got up about 10 after 2 cuppas in bed courtesy of DH. Had a shower then popped to M&S and Sainsbury's for nibbles as we had some friends over for a catch up and to meet their gorgeous new baby. It's DS1's birthday tomorrow, so wrapped his presents earlier too.

Now just sitting with a gin, waiting for DH to bring pizza home, ready to watch Ant & Dec with DS1 and DS2. DD is at Brownie camp and it's ridiculously quiet without her.
