Is something big going on… conspiracy theory related

Ok hear me out….

the following things have put me a little bit on edge:

  • emergency alert trial from government (yes I know it’s been spoken about for years)
  • a few asteroids flying “close” and reported in press
  • A few solar/planet events… eg holes in sun creating solar winds, northern lights being so far down south, weird planetary alignments
  • nasa being able to defect the path of an asteroid in the last 6 months
  • the constant threat of nuclear war
  • chatter a few months ago about weird spy balloons and possibility of aliens?!

I can’t help but shake the feeling that some people “higher up” know something that us little folk don’t know yet and that we are being primed.

I am fully prepared to be told I’m crackers! 🤣

No.

GracePooleslaugh · 29/03/2023 10:43

Nope

PutYourHandUp · 29/03/2023 10:44

Yes.

Hiphopopotamus · 29/03/2023 10:44

Whenever I see theories like this I marvel at the idea that any group of people, especially the current shit show of a government we have at the moment could keep a secret of this magnitude without leaks. Guaranteed if there was something big going on we would have had the relevant WhatsApp messages splashed all over Twitter by now

The emergency alert trial has made me feel a little on edge if I think about it.

Just can't help but wonder - why now? And what for.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/03/2023 10:45

crackers

HappyHolidai · 29/03/2023 10:45

Think you might need to find something absorbing to do with your time. Have you considered getting a job?

frozendaisy · 29/03/2023 10:46

This is a wind-up yes?

Ha ha.

frozendaisy · 29/03/2023 10:47

Maybe it's distraction so they can turn the COVID vaccine microchips on?

I thought the chips moved from the vaccine to missing socks?

To waste more money? I don't really see the point of it to be honest an emergency alert for just about anything would likely cause mass panic and more problems.
I do agree though that if there was something going on, no way that the shower in parliament would be able to keep their gobs shut about it.

Thisisbig · 29/03/2023 10:57

Ok this is a valid point about Matt Hancock and co being unable to keep a secret. That’s made me feel a bit better. It’s 90% lighthearted this thread. There’s just a little bit of me that is suspicious…

The emergency alert system has been in the works for a long time. Other countries have had them for years. UK is catching up. That is all it is. It's not a nuclear alert, it's for hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding etc too. ANY emergency. When I lived near a riverbank, we had a local company that alerted us when the river would start to rise past a certain level so we could make preparations. They would call and text us to warn us. It's just a bigger scale version of that really.

WimbleOfWombledon · 29/03/2023 11:01

These types of things have always been happening but I think nowadays with improvements in tech (so scientists can look at stuff) 24/7 news and social media it probably seems like there's more going on than usual.

But there really isn't!

Ifailed · 29/03/2023 11:01

The emergency alert trial is just that, a trial. Presumably they want to check that they can target an alert to a specific area so when they really need to use it (e.g. risk of flooding, power cut etc) they are confident it will work.

Asteroids are always flying 'close' to us, and as the detection methods improve it's hardly surprising that more are being picked up.

Solar flares are not uncommon and increase as the sun goes through it's well tracked 11-year cycle.

The threat of nuclear war is tiny compared to the 70s and 80s, guess what - those of us who went through survived.

The 'spy' balloons thing was over and done with in a week, no doubt it'll be 'spy dolphins' or something next.

The higher-ups couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery without help from people who actually know what they are doing, and the chance of them keeping it secret is pretty well nil.

coffeemoon · 29/03/2023 11:07

Do you think our government would actually be competent to pull off an operation on the scale of some of these suggested conspiracy theories?

Just get on with your life.

2bazookas · 29/03/2023 11:12

Yes, you're crackers. Get some nice cheese, and relax :-)

This. In 2019 I was at an emergency planning conference that had some Japanese delegates who told us all about the various emergency alert and public information systems they used when the earthquake and tsunami struck in 2011 and developments since then.

They found it somewhat unbelievable that the UK didn't have anything similar. When presented the findings of our focus group, I said that the powers that be should roll out a similar app, seeing as just about everyone has smartphones these days.

And now here we are. Yes folks, it was my idea, four years ago. Although not really, because in our industry I'm a very small cog in a very big wheel, but there's a lot of us who've spent decades preparing for disasters that will probably never happen because it's a statutory function and we have to do what we can to prepare and hopefully mitigate the consequences.

And it's genuinely useful to get an insight into what the public is really thinking. If only to give us a laugh at the conference dinner. Or weep when people seem to be deliberately mistrustful or obstructive when we're doing our best to prepare for things that will happen. Like floods, gas leaks, bad weather, accidental or deliberate CBRN events, etc.

Why? It took 3 years and a very brave person to get it done this time.

No, OP, I don't think anything is going on.

loislovesstewie · 29/03/2023 11:28

Please, if there are higher powers causing the problem please, for the love of goodness, let me get my shower room sorted first!

MyriadOfTravels · 29/03/2023 11:31

Yes there is something going in. But it’s not aliens etc…
zits the erosion of our freedoms. In the U.K., the us, a few eu countries etc….
its the fact governments and the press can say anything and everything, outright lies and no one points it out. Very helpful to bury unhelpful news.

If you want to know what someone wants to hide behind those news, look at the news that haven’t made it to front page but should. Bank crisis, climate change, personal freedoms… the list is long.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/03/2023 11:32

I hope so. In fact
I pray that there's intelligent life
Somewhere out in space
Because there's bugger all down here on earth.Grin

WandaWonder · 29/03/2023 11:34

So the 'brains' behind the conspiracy let's enough info out to make people wonder and manage to 'cover' the rest up and everyone involved in the conspiracies has not said a word?
