Thing you do when you WFH...

...that you'd never do in the office.

My DH was shaving his beard In-between emails this week and it made me chuckle at the thought of him doing this in the office.

What things do you do while you WFH that would be completely inappropriate/slightly hilarious if you did them in the office?

Put washing on during boring calls mainly!

Shower late if I don’t have any early meetings, and work from my bed. Sometimes I have a lunchtime nap too! Definitely guilty of hanging out the washing between meetings but I used to go for coffee breaks with work colleagues when I worked in the office…

Don’t know why I’ve never thought to do my nails before!!!

Let the 2 year old sit on my lap and type gobbledegook on MS word (occasionally).

Nap at lunch or go for a walk with my DH. Fold laundry during the long pointless team meeting.

Oh god loads

Cooking

Shower at lunchtime

Fart outloud

Clean the house (rare)

Have wine at 3pm in the garden

Eat like a total pig, no manners, snarffle snarffle

This is why I wish I could work from home. I am jealous if you all.

Wish I had more no camera meetings- normally they are on so can’t do some of the stuff above! I love wfh and I work but I do put on washing, transfer to tumble drier, clean bathroom bit by bit each time I go to the bathroom. On occasions it’s been a bad night etc I’ll shower on my lunch break but normally work through to avoid evening weekend work

Drink coffee all day. 😉

In camera off meetings I do my nails, knit, do domestic admin like sorting out car insurance etc. Put washing on, hang it out, load the dishwasher, pick ds up from school in my 3pm lunch break and listen to him read, do homework etc. Chop veg for dinner.

I also watch box sets on disney or amazon prime, currently working my way through Buffy the vampire slayer. I hate working in silence so tend to stick on something I've seen before that I don't need to pay too much attention to.

Wear a nice jumper and pyjama bottoms.

Sit crossed legged on my chair.

Nothing I wouldn't do in the office! I'm tied to my desk and the background has to be fairly quiet so no radio/TV etc

I pluck my eyebrows and emery board my nails if I'm in a camera off meeting that I don't need to contribute to. I also put laundry away as I work in my bedroom. I can listen and potter at the same time.

I couldn't do many of the above as I have to be available for calls. The only things I do at home that I wouldn't in the office are listening to music and snacking constantly. Also I can do things like put on an extra pair socks if it's cold etc.

Have lunch with DH

Have sex on my tea break (DH wfh too) 😜

Careful if the DM catches up with this thread they will have a field day 'Calls for WFH employees to get back to the office' 'Staff paint their nails and have naps while working'

Once I built and painted a flat pack side table while on a training session - video off obv!

I have to say my bowel movements are much better since wfh because I can poo whenever I like.

Other than that just the usual washing, cleaning etc.

As someone who supervises a large remote team I am a bit 🙄at some of these responses 😂.

@PureGoldLeaf I am hoping some are just tongue in cheek. Personally I am far more productive at home even in my slippers, my commute time is spent working and I am not constantly distracted or interrupted. I might make use of a teams meeting to fold laundry or something but I generally don't have the time for a nap or to drink wine in the garden

Housework (cooking, cleaning, washing etc.), showering, brushing teeth, going for a walk, getting dressed (not wearing real clothing), pointing and cutting nails, work emails while in meeting, lunchtime sex.

I’m too bloody busy to do half these things. Almost all the calls I’m in, I need to be paying attention/making notes for myself, and they’re 90% camera on even if I could do something else.

I load laundry, hang out washing etc, do cleaning bit by bit, do exercise, have a lie on the sofa if I’m feeling unwell or tired. All this is done during screen breaks and lunch breaks which are encouraged so I don’t take the piss but I do make the most of the freedom!

Made personal calls
Packed for a holiday
Completed a PIP application

I wear slippers and, well, you know, work.

I do sometimes for meetings I don’t need to contribute much to, our the laptop in the kitchen and walk up and down the hall to it to get moving a bit.

I also supervise a homeworking team and would be dismayed by some of the attitudes here.
