Does anyone have one and would you recommend? I was thinking of getting one for reminding me to take exercise et cetera.

If you do have one and like it, which model do you have.

Thank you

Oh, another thing I love - though possibly only of use in London, I don't know about any other cities and how the transport systems work. But on London transport, you can nominate an express travel card that means when you tap your watch onto the yellow oyster reader, it lets you through the barriers without needing to press any other buttons or fiddle with anything or get your phone out.

Express travel card works with iPhone too, but having it on my watch just makes commuting that bit less of a faff.

I change my strap all the time - Amazon have loads, from reasonably priced decent quality leather to fine chain metal etc.

I probably change it 5 x a week. Rubber for the gym, leather or metal for work/life.

Love mine. Hate the battery life.

Wouldn't buy a Fitbit now that they're part of Google.

Like the idea of a Garmin but hate that I can't answer calls or reply to texts on it (read only or alert only)

Apple's privacy with data is far superior IMHO

I've had my current watch since 2019 and I can tell the battery life is getting worse. Still only charge once a day.

Series 5

I couldn’t justify spending that amount of money (although I love my iPhone) so I have a Garmin Venu. Battery life is fantastic. Monitors my workouts mMy sleep, my heart rate etc. Syncs. With my iPhone so I can see texts, incoming calls, notifications. Less than half the price of an Apple watch and they have a square version if you prefer the shape.

I love mine! I have had the SE for over a year. I run 3-4 times a week and that’s the main use, the workout app can be synced to Strava and I’ve found the GPS, pacing etc is really accurate, it’s almost identical to official race chip times.

I also love getting WhatsApp messages through to my watch as I can leave my phone in another room if I don’t want it to distract me, and I can see if a message or phone call needs to be addressed straight away or picked up later.

I also use the alarms, reminders a lot, all of which can be set with Siri. I love it!

The battery can’t be compared with the likes of Fitbit but it’s also much better IMO. I charge it all the time when I’m in the shower, and if it needs extra I’ll pop it on while I’m sitting watching TV. It does need overnight charging with that routine probably 1-2 times a week maximum.

Also Apple Pay just with your watch, using it as a remote for Spotify, podcasts etc. The find my iPhone feature. I should work for them!

I’ve purchased with Amazon the series 8, five monthly payments of £85. Will report back later in the week 🙂

The find my iPhone feature.
Yes... even moreso DHs. That and AirTags are a boon!Grin

@PureGoldLeaf that's interesting! I ought to have said in my post that I don't have multiple straps, because I find the mechanism for this awkward. Have you found it has become easier over time?

PureGoldLeaf · 29/03/2023 10:02

I've never found it awkward tbh @LancreWowhawk. You just press that little button on each side and the strap slides off easily.

I also love my Apple Watch, I had a very early version and have since replaced it, I now have a Series 5 which I've had for about 3.5 years, no problems yet. I charge overnight while sleeping, I'm not interested in sleep tracking, and don't like wearing things on my hands/wrists at night, so works well for me. Only if I've done a lot of exercise (such as walking for several hours, or doing 3 1 hr workouts in a day - pretty rare) does it flash at me that my battery's getting low, but even then, I don't think I've ever needed to take it off to charge before I've gone to bed.

DH and DS also have them (DS has an SE, I think DH's is a series 6 or 7).

When mine dies/battery become unreliable I won't hesitate to replace like for like. I use mine in much the same way as others.
