Cornwall in the snow!

Blueyfan123 · 25/03/2023 20:00

We have our holiday of the year booked for the Easter break in Cornwall. Forecast at the moment is heavy snow. What is there to do to keep kids entertained in the snow in Cornwall?

OP posts:

Which forecast are you looking at? BBC saying 14 degrees in Truro on Good Friday

kernowpicklepie · 25/03/2023 20:06

We don't often get snow in Cornwall, not enough for it to stop whatever you want to go. The worst affected areas will be the moors so you should be fine when you visit

Itstarts · 25/03/2023 20:21

We've booked first week of Easter and it's saying rain all week but 11°C so definitely no snow.

mindutopia · 25/03/2023 20:30

It’s not going to snow in Cornwall. 😂 I mean if you’re on Bodmin, you might get a cm or 2. Then go out and enjoy it for the hour that it lasts.

We live on the Devon/Cornwall border and haven’t had SNOW (proper snow) in years. It may snow on high moorland but at most a dusting. Easter is looking warm for us. You will not get significant snowfall. But make the most of being outside in the flakes if you see some and go for a cream tea or hot chocolate somewhere with a nice fire.

Movinghouseatlast · 25/03/2023 20:33

I don't think the forecast is for snow here in Cornwall.

Why would anyone go to Cornwall this time of year!!

R18 · 25/03/2023 20:50

Because it beautiful, peaceful and a lovely place to live

Boltonn · 25/03/2023 20:51

I’m sure it is but surely more to do and nicer in the summer

Cornwallintherain · 25/03/2023 20:52

Ya whaaat??

Boltonn · 25/03/2023 20:52

No point going now with rain and cold!

User386421986 · 25/03/2023 20:53

Forecast looks as expected for April, some rain , some sun and about 11-14c

😂 I'm laughing so much right now. We've all done it. And we've all woken up to some crazy news in Truro only to find out it's Truro, Canada 😂

Yea don’t understand why you wouldn’t go in summer where maybe there’s a chance of sun!!!

davegrohll · 25/03/2023 20:57

My mum booked a holiday the once in Torquay, she rang me up all shocked saying it's going to be 28 degrees!! Later that day the holiday company actually called her up and checked she did know she was booking Torquay in Australia ?! 🤣🤣

Boltonn · 25/03/2023 20:57

In my school cornwalls the poor man’s choice most people go abroad, more exciting and appealing. But I guess they do say Cornwall is expensive just don’t get the appeal what with the unpredictable weather!

Doh

Cornwallintherain · 25/03/2023 21:01

For those wondering what to do!

We have Telegraph Museum which is SO cool and very interactive (similar to Science Museum actually)

Eden Project obviously

Maritime Museum in Falmoutth

Today we had epic hot chocolates and cakes at a harbour side cafe. Super quiet but lovely in between the showers.

Beaches are empty and on a nice dry day. Pack an extra blanket, flask of hot drink and a pasty - sit, rest and enjoy.

If its mizzle, drizzle or pissing it down - drive to one of our headland car parks with your fish and chips - and watch the epic stormy Atlantic seas.

Sunny, chilly, calm day? Try paddleboarding! Cycle!

Or walk the endless coast path and discover nooks and crannies, private beaches, take a book? Have a sit and feel completely alone. Switch off from the big noisy world.

Bring your National Trust memberships and enjoy rainforest style gardens, beach carparks for free and beautiful old houses like Lanhydrock. (Also suitable for kids and their bikes!)

I struggle with SAD and it's especially horrid in the winter months but even I can see the beauty behind the rain.

If all else fails, put Poldark on and fantasise about Ross 🤣

User386421986 · 25/03/2023 21:01

Actually it's quite easy to look at the wrong Cornwall if you don't look at the map😁

Poor ?? Bloody hell have you seen how much a week in st Ives costs??

fizzykoalablanket · 25/03/2023 21:02

'The poor man's choice'?

Wow. What snobbery.

Have you ever been to Cornwall?
It is stunning. Just beautiful, and so much more to it than the weather.

User386421986 · 25/03/2023 21:05

I'm sure there will probably be quite a few breaks in the weather and you will have a lovely time

Boltonn · 25/03/2023 21:07

@fizzykoalablanket jist not as exciting as going abroad and getting guaranteed weather. I’m sure it’s a lovely place tho!

Cornwallintherain · 25/03/2023 21:07

Sorry for my typos and grammar. Struggling to type with MS but just wanted to help OP out the best I could 😊
