The previous thread filled up fast, so here's another one with a reasonably topical title!

Not much to add to what you have all said. What a dungheap of a government.

DuncinToffee · 02/04/2023 11:53

The case of the 12 refugees shot in Rwanda after protesting about food rations being cut has previously been raised in the Commons.

(Priti Patel, not Suella Braverman, was Home Secretary at this point)

DH was reading the list out when we got our polling cards yesterday and we were like Shock

Back of my Polling Card for local elections. For 1st time, photo ID is required. Card gives many options for elderly or those with disability. None, NONE, for younger or student voters. The policy is simply biased against younger voters, designed to suppress their vote.

Hmm. Now I'm wondering if this is being set up early so they can keep bring up Starmer and the Savile enquiry during the election. Its a smear to suggest he supported Savile but already is a suspicion of the Conservatives

Ugh. They make me sick

In its final report last October, the IICSA called the scale of abuse in England and Wales "horrific and deeply disturbing".
Around 7,000 victims of abuse provided testimonies to the seven-year inquiry, which was set up in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Child sex abuse: Failing to report it should be made illegal - major inquiry

The nature and scale of child sex abuse is "deeply disturbing", the final report of a huge seven-year inquiry says.

Seems like Braverman would have known full well about what has happened in Rwanda -

She is aware. FCDO and Home Office officials have prepared countless briefings for the Home Secretary on human rights abuses in Rwanda, including this incident. She has consistently disregarded advice from officials, much to their chagrin.

After what happened to Johnson when he attempted to smear Starmer over Savile the Tories would be insane to try and resurrect that one. I seem to remember one of Johnson’s most loyal aides resigned over it.

Are you suggesting that the current Tories aren't insane and utterly intent of the destruction of their party and the country?

Blossomtoes · 02/04/2023 15:20

Excellent point @jgw1. Stupid of me.

Zonder · 02/04/2023 15:57

What about the agreement Sue Ellen has signed where it turns out the arrangement with Rwanda is reciprocal? Kuenssberg tried to get her to talk about it without success. So she has actually signed that just as immigrants to UK can be sent to Rwanda, we will also take immigrants to Rwanda over here.

It is certainly a treat.

It's all going so well that they want to share the win with non Tory voters.

The Telegraph is upset about the UK's Eurovision entrant

Mae Muller is a Left-wing activist who hates Boris Johnson and said he did not deserve an ICU bed as he fought for his life, The Telegraph can reveal.

There are some specials on that thread, although I am disappointed by the lack of knowing what a woman is.

If we are to limit our Eurovision entrants to those who don't hate Boris Johnson, then the pool of possible candidates may be somewhat small.
