Do you ever go to the same place in your dreams (but it's a dream place only? Not real)

Not like you often go back to your childhood home or somewhere that originated in the real world but you dream of it alot.

But somewhere that's only in your dreams, but recurrently.

I was dreaming last night of a rollercoaster, I was looking up at it and thought 'Nope, not getting on this. I don' t like this one' and then I vividly remember 'remembering other dreams in my dream of when I've been on this rollercoaster and the feeling it gives me as I go down the big drop'

I wasn't aware I was dreaming but I remembered the roller coaster in my other dreams.

I just thought it was weird as I've never remembered something from a dream whilst in one before.

Yes! I have loads of places that I go to very often in dreams. None of them are real life places. 2 or 3 towns, a multistorey car park, houses. It's really strange.

Ooh, do you recognise them as dream places. Do you ever know you're dreaming?

Yes. I have whole towns I've invented.

Furrybutts · 20/03/2023 21:25

I do.

For years now I've dreamt of this house that when you go inside is a huge hotel, owned by my family.

I had the dream so many times now that I can describe the lift, carpets, pool area etc in detail.

It's definitely not a place I know of in real life.

I love the dream, and I always wake up disappointed that I don't actually have family who owns a place like that.

moveoverye · 20/03/2023 21:27

Yep, I’ve got a beach, a house-come-office-come-school with stone pillars, a large university-like building full of lifts, and an airport.

Choice4567 · 20/03/2023 21:27

Yes at least 4 places that I go to fairly regularly

moveoverye · 20/03/2023 21:28

Recently I was at the airport and recognised it as a dream place, and that realisation woke me up.

AmyDudley · 20/03/2023 21:29

yes frequently - I have a recurring dream which takes place in a room in a boarding house, which I am sharing with friends/my xH/ friend plus a couple of randoms, sometimes there is a dog or a child or two. The dream is essentially about having to pack up all my worldy goods including large furniture and get out in a very small space of time, whilst having only a couple of suitcases and a very small car. I have it several time a month, always take place in the same manky old boarding house, that as far as I know does not exist

Daleksatemyshed · 20/03/2023 21:31

Yes, sort of a fairground site with shops but I always have to search for the way out. My dreams are quite lucid and when I think, I'm here again, I wake up

shivermetimbers77 · 20/03/2023 21:33

Yes! A whole city, with a rollercoaster just like you described op, plus a hotel with very fast lifts which I am always running into in order to escape someone who is chasing me, an airport where I frequently board the plane and then realise I have forgotten my passport..
Basically, it’s an entire city themed around my anxiety 😂

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 20/03/2023 21:34

I'm never sure if dream me is really remembering previous dreams, or if I'm just dreaming that I've dreamt it before. If that makes any sense at all...

I used to have a recurring nightmare in a weird castle that was only a dream place, and another with a maze like public loos with no doors, but that's not quite the same!

I think sometimes I do, yes. Other times I believe it's real while I'm dreaming.
@Furrybutts I sometimes wake up disappointed too! And sometimes I'm annoyed because I haven't finished what I'm doing in the dream and I was really absorbed in it.
Occasionally I can go back to sleep and continue.

Phonemonkey2023 · 20/03/2023 21:35

Yes a few places. I saw this picture on FB a while ago and it’s one of the places! No idea where it is now 😂

bellalou1234 · 20/03/2023 21:37

I'm always on a plane, airport or trying to get on a plan

Phonemonkey2023 · 20/03/2023 21:37

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut the public loos with no doors! I get that one too! 😀

ellenpartridge · 20/03/2023 21:38

Yes I have a place like this, though haven't had the dream for ages. Would love to have it again. It's a woodland with a tree to climb and at the top of the tree there's a sort of stately home type place with gardens and statues. Whenever I have the dream it's weird how familiar the place feels.

Whatalovelypair · 20/03/2023 21:39

yes

Justforlaffs · 20/03/2023 21:43

Yes, I have regular places I visit in dreams in fact I visited one of my regulars last night! It is a kind of man made land (like a movie set) accessed through a boarded up building, the front of which has been painted in bright colours, carnival-like. There is always a dusty, busy road outside the building with cars going past and we're always trying to get inside unnoticed and out of the warmth of the day into the coolness Inside. There is a painting of a sun on this building and you enter by pushing on the sun which is in fact a round door. We enter a kind of mysterious land with broken rollercoasters and large effigies/statues, Buddhas and things. Everything is painted in bright colours but it's dark in there so nothing seems bright. There are always bodies of water and sand and we have to get into/out of different sections of this place using different strategies to reach some kind of end goal but I never know what this is as I wake up before I get there! It's all very vague though and I can only ever remember bits. I'm never alone though - there's always a small group of others with me but I dont see their faces but I feel I'm in a gang and that we are young, possibly children. It always feels exciting but creepy.

Another recurring dream I have is visiting a graveyard in which some of the tombstones come to life and move - this dream again features a sun with a face which rocks back and forth. There is also an industrial element to this dream with metal structures and cranes and things working away in the background. Again I am always trying to find my way to something, taking different paths but never quite reaching what I'm looking for or even knowing what the aim is. Sometimes in this one I feel afraid that I'm being watched and followed.

Dreams are strange!

shouldhavetakenmorenotice · 20/03/2023 21:43

I do, but I can't describe any of them. I just know them when I'm 'there'

Justforlaffs · 20/03/2023 21:45

One of my most common dreams is that we discover secret rooms leading off one another in our house - apparently this is a very common dream and means you have untapped potential or feel you haven't fulfilled your dreams in life - or something!

4EyesandBigThighs · 20/03/2023 21:46

Your brain doesn’t have the capacity to make up images.

it will be somewhere your brain has registered, even subconsciously.

the same with dreaming about ‘random’ people, they’re people you will have walked past on the street, seen in a passing car, in a shop ect. You don’t give it a second thought, but the people you see in your dreams are people you’ve seen in real life.

Marsyas · 20/03/2023 21:46

Mine is a fair/theme park too, how weird.
It's not always exactly the same, but has similar layout and there is always a water park to the left as you go in.
Also there's a beach resort on an island, and a coastal city on a big bay.
I think sometimes though within the dream we dream that we have had the dream before but we haven't and it overwrites our memory, if you see what I mean. You can only tell if you really had the dream before if you wrote it down or told someone!

PSG · 20/03/2023 21:46

Yes, I have a few.
For some, I know the country/ city they are in and for one I have no idea. The common thing is that they are all on water.

Phonemonkey2023 · 20/03/2023 21:37

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut the public loos with no doors! I get that one too! 😀

Same here! Public loos with no doors, several times a year.
What does it symbolize - feeling vulnerable, I suppose?

WildGeece · 20/03/2023 21:55

My dreams are often set in my childhood home, which we lived in from early 80s to late 90s, moved when I was 18 and I'm early 40s now. The people in the dreams are sometimes from that era but often not. I think it must say something about me being stuck in the past!
