Do you ever go to the same place in your dreams (but it's a dream place only? Not real)

Not like you often go back to your childhood home or somewhere that originated in the real world but you dream of it alot.

But somewhere that's only in your dreams, but recurrently.

I was dreaming last night of a rollercoaster, I was looking up at it and thought 'Nope, not getting on this. I don' t like this one' and then I vividly remember 'remembering other dreams in my dream of when I've been on this rollercoaster and the feeling it gives me as I go down the big drop'

I wasn't aware I was dreaming but I remembered the roller coaster in my other dreams.

I just thought it was weird as I've never remembered something from a dream whilst in one before.

I also know just what you mean about remembering a dream inside a dream. It's like a plane that's only properly available in subconscious form, and once you're in it you can clearly remember your former visits.

(This is probably just a brain trick, but that's how it feels.)

There's a house I frequently dream about that doesn't exist in real life. When I was younger, I always dreamt about my childhood home. Then after my mum died I stopped dreaming about it, even though my dad still lives there and I visit regularly. I've never dreamt about my current house, and instead I only ever dream about this make believe house. Its not even a house that I like or would want to live in, so I don't know what that's all about.

PeachPiePrincess · 20/03/2023 23:13

I dream (apart from toilets) about a house with lots of semi -hidden rooms.
About my primary school though not as it actually was. About a restaurant that I seem to work in in my dream life though I think it's different restaurants. And about a town/car park/ motorway that I seem to return to.

Dream update - classic work anxiety dream, went into the office forgot to take my laptop. Dreamt about my grandparents in 2 separate dreams, they are on my mind a lot as one has recently gone into a home and the other is had also gone down hill a lot recently. But none happened in a one of ‘my’ places.

SpringIntoChaos · 21/03/2023 07:00

Gosh I wonder if this rollercoaster thing is really common? My recurring place also includes a rollercoaster 😲

SpringIntoChaos · 21/03/2023 07:02

Also the public toilets with no doors...and I'm searching for a loo but the only ones I can find aren't private, so I keep searching. I hate that dream 😩

benten54 · 21/03/2023 07:23

Yep
Airport
Tube station that is linked to railways station that only has steam trains
Shopping Malls with water slides to get from one floor to another
A city with a combo of features from other cities I've lived in
A bridge in a desert that has terrifying climbs and drops to traverse it
A school/office complex with huge very fast lifts.

I frequently dream about these places and also think in my dream 'oh I'm here again'

Dreams about houses and buildings are you and different aspects of your life

Drains, bathrooms toilets: unwanted difficult feelings that you need to express .
Loft: lofty ideas, high up thoughts

Kitchens: domestic life, relationship with food etc

Basements: hidden feelings, emotions you may have buried

Travel dreams: your path in life, crossroads are which path to take. Train too fast: life is going too fast?
keep missing your stop: you feel like your missing out on something.
Too slow or not arriving: life is not going how you'd like, or your bored.

You get the gist! It's usually your brain trying to sort out things we don't get to process in the day as we're so busy.

Me too. Filthy loos. Communal loos with no doors so pooping next another person. Loos with tiny doors. The worst is when I've just decided to use a loo and it suddenly turns into a loo in the middle of the office at work. Someone comes and talks to me and despite sitting on a loo with my pants round my ankles I try and pretend I'm not actually pooping BECAUSE WHO POOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OFFICE?! So that's a nice one.

So many of us with dire dunny dreams!

MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco · 21/03/2023 07:30

Yes, I've had the same dream intermittently since I was very young. It seems to be part replaying something but my mum never knew what as it wasn't somewhere I'd been before. But the dream still comes and goes, less than it used to, used to have it all the time.

MrsDrDear · 21/03/2023 07:40

I have the toilet dreams where I just can't pee because no toilet paper, or flush broken, no door etc. It's usually because I need the loo in my sleep, as soon as I wake up I have to run to the toilet.

My other one is the secret rooms in a house that I always dream of, extra kitchen, long landing with lots of rooms off it. Quirky extra staircase to hidden bedrooms.

WhiteFire · 21/03/2023 07:48

I have frequent loo dreams and like some others places that are often in my dreams but I can't describe.

I also occasionally shout out or scream (generally then waking myself up) I know this isn't normal but I can't seem to find out why, I did read one thing about it being related to anti-depressants, but I can't find any information on the patient information leaflet.

tobi21 · 21/03/2023 07:53

Yes I definitely have dreams of places that only appear in my dreams and haven't been there in real life. Fascinating, especially when you have different dreams in the same "location"

IHeartGeneHunt · 21/03/2023 07:57

My dreams are all in another world, that has places similar to real places but they're not them. So there's a London but it's not London. I've got jobs there, friends, memories of things I've done there.

@notsayingmuch
so not so much solid evidence, because it’s almost impossible to prove - but these are interesting reads on the subject!

@AmyDudley I have this dream too, packing up to leave a holiday, and rooms filled with stuff, more than I can pack before the flight.

I also have the toilet dream, overflowing dirty toilets, toilet cubicles without doors and sometimes without toilets in, or they are too small for me to fit in.

I have a whole map in my head, which is similar to real but different and has some places that aren't based on real, bthe theme park and the road that goes slightly underwater, like a causeway along a cliff. I always tell my husband not to drive that way in my dreams because we invariably slip off the causeway. But I go back to these same locations frequently.

I also dream about yhe house with a crazy extension or a loft filled with extra secret bedrooms.

Saucery · 21/03/2023 18:00

Yes, my Big House dream. It’s always the same house, with annexes and attics that have a cold feeling of dread about them.

DaveyJonesLocker · 21/03/2023 18:06

Yeah there's a few places! There are two theme parks, ones relatively new and I've never actually been on the rides, I just pass through.
There's a hotel, a ship, and a few others some nice, some not.

There's also people who I don't know in real life at all but that I'm rather fond of in my dreams, good friends, we've been through alot together 😂
