Is it spider season again?

We had absolutely loads of those giant spiders in my house in autumn. Then one day they just buggered off and I haven't seen one since. Until today...I have spotted no less than 5 spiders in my house! Not the giant ones but fair sized! Where have they come from? What do they want? Does anyone else have them? How can I get them to go away?

They are after your biscuit crumbs...

1ittlegreen · 17/03/2023 23:02

Me too. Huge! What's that about?

CandyCaneLane0 · 17/03/2023 23:12

Had a huge one in my living room yesterday

crispinglovershighkick · 17/03/2023 23:15

I was going to do an identical post! A black one in the bath the size of a mouse and a few days later the biggest spider I've ever seen, like a tarantula, on the arm of my jacket.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 17/03/2023 23:16

Oh no, fuck

Where do you all live? Sad

They'll have to fight the mouse for them Blush

Oh don't say that. Please no.

msmatcha · 17/03/2023 23:18

Yep, I've just had to push one out of the front door. First in a very long time.

WitheringTights000 · 17/03/2023 23:19

Please tell me this is some sort of a joke!

I thought I had about 5 months before they appear!

Surely it is too cold for many to be about this time of year?

elm26 · 17/03/2023 23:26

Nooooo 😭 thought I was safe for a few months!

BubziOwl · 17/03/2023 23:39

Had three big ones in my house over the last two days after months of spider-free bliss! I think they're back, I'm afraid.

NBLarsen · 17/03/2023 23:42

I wish I hadn't opened and read this thread 👀

Spectre8 · 17/03/2023 23:42

They were already in your house u less you've been keeping windows and doors open its mating season for the male ones so u will see them come looking

mrsfollowill · 17/03/2023 23:42

Yep- had 3 in our house - one biggun and 2 smaller ones. It's been mild here for a couple of days - 10c ish can only think they have been hiding from the cold and are now feeling brave!

WitheringTights000 · 17/03/2023 23:51

I've never seen them this time of year before 😢 why would that have changed

Makingamess4212 · 17/03/2023 23:58

We had a huge one crawling on my nieces baby bouncer while she was IN IT! 😫 The horror!

I buy white vinegar and clean with it regularly, I also go outside in spider season and spray all the edges of windows and doors, spray vents, literally just spray the sh*t out of anywhere they could possibly get in. Use the white vinegar when cleaning your floors too. They hate it apparently and it's always helped me keep them at bay.

Greenshake · 18/03/2023 01:22

We have conkers on all the windows sills and it has made a colossal difference

UWhatNow · 18/03/2023 01:33

It is the cold wet weather I reckon… hopefully they’ll all fuck off soon.

Mating season for females, too! But you're right, it's getting warmer and arachnid love is in the air!

Is that a little cruel? How do they get free from it when you put them outside?

This made me laugh, mating season for the males Grin my house is like Hampstead Heath for spiders

You all need to grow up!

Whywouldyoudothat123 · 18/03/2023 06:59

i second the conkers! I used to have collossal ones where I lived and it was a nightmare, since I’ve been putting them in the corner of windowsills I haven’t seen any big ones , I only see big ones where there aren’t any conkers! Must be the smell

Hampstead Heath does have a certain reputation, even known up in Newcastle!
