DP is working today. Ds and I are in our snoodies watching Cbeebies. Having a lazy morning after a busy week. Most housework done yesterday just need to put a wash on and do a wee bit ironing.

Mum and MIl coming for lunch then a roast dinner later 😋

Another poster relieved that @lucysmam is here, I hope you’re feeling better soon.

We’ve all been swimming this morning, we celebrated Holi yesterday, we were still stained but the chlorine sorted that out for us.

We’re having some people over later for food, so I’m making a few dishes for that, puran poli is our favourite. I’m already on kurta number two as I can’t keep my food hands off my clothes.

Waves to @Simonjt . Can you tell us more about your celebrations with your family (if you are comfortable) I love hearing about other cultures. I have a friend who is Muslim from Pakistan and I love being invited to their house to eat the food is amazing!

We’ve just walked the dog around a massive lake after dropping DSD at hockey. Off to pick her up now and head for a pub lunch before DSS goes to cricket.

We had a lazy morning and a cooked breakfast before dropping DS1 and DS2 at football - they’re with their dad now and the step kids are going to their mum after lunch/cricket so just DP and i tonight. I think the plan is to watch Luther and I’ll probably suggest a cheese board or baked Camembert for tea.

Loafbeginsat60 · 12/03/2023 14:37

Dh and ds are plasterboarding

I have been washing and ironing and cleaning. Baked a banana cake and watched a bit of TV.

Better than yesterday when I was painting all day!

Vicliz24 · 12/03/2023 14:56

Was out for a 5k run at 8.30 . Home shower and then drove to the coast (65 miles) a big dog walk down the beach now just having coffee before driving back to a Chinese and a bath . Probably a G&T involved somewhere this evening. A lovely Sunday.

Whichwhatnow · 12/03/2023 14:58

Watching Cocaine Bear at the cinema. I do not have high hopes 😆

pinkstripeycat · 12/03/2023 14:59

Went to work for a bit, walked dog, made lunch, planning on framing a pic, paperwork, ironing, catch up TV 😊

mamaduckbone · 12/03/2023 15:02

A rare Sunday off from transporting to rugby matches today so Dh and I had a bit of a lie in and popped into the city for a few hours for some shopping and lunch, leaving the teens festering at home. It was bliss!
Now we're home, watching Scotland Ireland in the 6 nations, hoping it's less of a disaster than yesterday's England match.
Ds1's girlfriend is over for dinner later. They're both studying A-level history and learning about the Vietnam war, so Dh is getting excited at the prospect of dusting off Apocalypse Now and inflicting it on them both.

TheMousePipes · 12/03/2023 15:08

Cooking a slow roast shoulder of lamb for dinner, which is starting to smell quite epic. Dd is doing her scuba homework in preparation for her dive course at Easter, Dh is watching Lord of the Rings and I am procrastinating.
Need to t go and make bread and butter pudding but can’t be arsed.

Junegirl15 · 12/03/2023 15:18

Quiet day. Was up at 7.30 ready for our food shop delivery at 8.00. Took the dog for a woodland walk and have been doing washing and cleaning. About to take middle child to swim training. Other two are at a swim meet so have just started dinner ready for when they get back - roast chicken with all the trimmings and apple pie and ice cream for pudding. Mmmmm

Mogloveseggs · 12/03/2023 15:21

Lazy day. I didn't get up until 2.30! In my defence it's my first Sunday off since January. Watching Dd in her dance show tonight.
Ds has played on the Xbox and gone off to meet pals now for a couple of hours. Dh has been watching cricket and now football.
It was cottage pot for tea but the mince has gone off so I think takeaway.

Writeandroll · 12/03/2023 15:25

I’ve noticed that most people feel the need to justify having a more chilled (“lazy”) Sunday - a lot of you have referenced your busy day beforehand. You don’t have to earn a calm day.

Ive taken kids out to the shops this morning, now DS2 is having a danger nap while DS1 and DH play in the garden.

Tisfortired · 12/03/2023 15:26

MIL and DPs gran came round this morning with some new clothes bits they’d bought the kids. After they left we went on our favourite country walk with flasks of hot chocolate as it’s such a lovely day here.

We called into Morrisons on the way home for pies for lunch and now DP and DS9 are playing fortnite together, I have a sleeping baby on me and a cup of tea in reach 😏

We are currently debating going out for tea or chucking pizzas in the oven. Later this evening will be our Sunday evening ritual of laundry put away/clean bedding/bathed children and then me and DP are going to start watching The Gold. My favourite kind of Sunday.

I dug another secret flower bed while DH was working in his study. I do it by stealth then he doesn't notice I've bought more plants

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 12/03/2023 15:38

Swimming lessons this morning, then Tesco, very small amount of gardening now I'm sat in the front garden browsing MN while DD scooters round the block.

cassiastatham · 12/03/2023 15:39

Going to Church, already had a nice 9 km walk, played with some dogs, and I will catch up with my friends there

Echobelly · 12/03/2023 15:53

Have taken DS (11) with us to Natural History Museum at his request. 14YO is out at music rehearsal but DS asked for a trip to NHM - I had mentioned to DH that since 14YO had got pretty much self-organising at weekends, I felt we'd stopped going out as a family as much so DS ends up with a lot of weekends at home or only doing practical stuff like going to shops etc and isn't quite at organising seeing his mates on his own stage yet, though we're working on that.

It was nice, if quite tiring. DH ended up taking one or both kids there a couple of times when they were little but never me somehow - I don't think I'd actually been there for nearly 20 years, since an early impromptu trip there early in my relationship with DH. And even weirder I think if I go there again it'll only be with a grandchild, if that happens. 😮

Up at 6 with dc, after listening to dd’s friend throwing up in the bathroom until almost 2am. She is lactose intolerant but after a couple of drinks last night decided pizza wouldn’t hurt 🤦🏻‍♀️Still, it meant they were home nice and early last night instead of staying at the party!

Three loads of washing done and hung up. Got the first two mostly dry on the line before it started raining so they’re finishing in the dryer and the last load is on the airer.

Two loads from yesterday folded and put away.

Two beds stripped and remade, bit of tidying in dc bedrooms

Fridge cleaned out, washing up done.

Bins gathered ready to be put out

Game of MarioKart with dc3
Playdoh with dc4

Went to shop for bread, then had to wash buggy wheels as went through poo (so much on the pavements round here ☹️)

Made lunch and put dishwasher on

Cleaned out pets

Prepped veg for dinner.

Not much really yet seem to have been doing all day as have only just sat down HmmMust be moving slowly!

NeedWineNow · 12/03/2023 16:05

Quiet day as we were out a bit last week and have a busy week coming. Sorted out some things to take to the dump this week, did a bit of holiday planning for hols next month, have cooked a gammon for dinner later and me and DH have just watched Jojo Rabbit which we’ve had on the planner for a while. Very late to the party but what an outstanding film. Funny and poignant in equal measure. Incredible.

Well Holi is Hindu, Sikh and Jain, but it has Hindu origins, its a celebration of love, colour, spring and Radha Krishna (the feminine and masculine figures of god). Holi really varies depending on both religion and the region you’re from, I’m Pakistani so I played khido with some friends yesterday (a bit like hockey), the celebration of colour (everyone covering each other with powder paint and getting very drunk) feature in all I think.

As I’m a Sikh our celebration very much focuses around food and alcohol, mainly the alcohol, there are specific breaks so people can go home and sober up.

Decafflatteplease · 12/03/2023 16:21

Sounds fabulous @Simonjt hope you had a wonderful time!

Snugglemonkey · 12/03/2023 16:37

We had a lazy morning and just had toast and fruit for breakfast. We went out for lunch, to a local farm shop and cafe, just soup and toasties. We picked up some veg and pork for dinner. Had a wee walk around to spot lambs. Went for a swim and are chilling watching Netflix while smelling porchetta. This evening we will just have baths and prepare everything for school tomorrow.

I did a tabata workout this morning and then dh and I took dses to their respective sports. Then met a friend and had a walk along the beach and got chips. Came home and had a pork dinner. Have read a bit of my book and now watching David Attenborough. It's been a lovely day actually.

Silkierabbit · 12/03/2023 19:55

DS was here which was lovely he had hot chocolate then took him back.

Collected some new chemo hats, and really like them. I finished chemo a while back but hair is coming back all over the place. DH even noticed one matched my cardigan.

Booked a short break in the Azores for my forthcoming 50th. Lovely spa hotel. We fly direct but back its via Porto so been looking for places to stay there.

Had Sunday lunch and now having milky coffee with marshmallows.

lucysmam · 12/03/2023 20:13

@WinterMusings surprisingly, the girls didn't bring back anything particularly odd! They managed to remember the things I originally wanted to go for, and bought a sensible amount of treat things 🤯

I think I read your @ on the other thread, I've had the attention span of a gnat though so just been scrolling every now and again but not taking anything in really.
