Ha. Thanks ladies. I was seeing him for a short time (5 months) and to be fair he was lovely to me and we are still casual friends but I absolutely hated the way he was with money. He wasn't right for me anyway for other reasons but thinking back, I cringe at how he was on various occasions. There are other examples but I won't bore unless anyone asks.

Another example. He was due to spend his birthday weekend at mine, I can't exactly remember how the conversation came up but it concerned credit cards. He made a joke about how "it's my fucking birthday" so I basically replied and said yes it's your birthday. That means you get a cooked meal and a few gifts. It does not mean you get to turn up without your wallet and freeload off my dollar all weekend so if you rock up here with no intention of funding your own two feet you can turn around and fuck off home.

Hate this kind of thing - even from a friend I'd be put out.

He laughed it off and said fair enough. To be honest he was a fucking prat anyway for other reasons but my ex before him was very wealthy and whilst I offered to pay for drinks etc (on a couple of occasions I would quickly get the waiter to charge me while he was in the toilet) and would never in a million years ever lean on a man to pay my mortgage, bills and my expensive wardrobe etc I do find it very attractive being with a man who will treat me to dinner and not hold it against me when he's shoved his card towards petrol, food etc. I admit I am no feminist. Each to their own and I do like to treat a man too and I do so. But the whole 50/50 bollocks is not for me. So fucking what? Sue me.
