Would your 17 year old do this?

I'm trying to gauge how stupid this is. He was at home and there was some bedding hanging in the garden. He noticed it was raining so he brought it in and...... dropped it on the floor and left it there. Now I appreciate the fact he brought it in, but am I being unreasonable to be a bit annoyed that he just dumped it on the floor? Am I expecting too much??

No you’re not unreasonable.

EconomyClassRockstar · 06/03/2023 19:13

HAHA! Mine wouldn't have even noticed it was raining and would have just been confused as to why I was cranky with them, so at least he got that far!

saveforthat · 06/03/2023 19:13

That's quite stupid.

TomatoSandwiches · 06/03/2023 19:14

No, my 15yr old would put it in a washing basket in the utility or on my bed, not necessarily folded though.

HowdoIgetbacktothe80s · 06/03/2023 19:14

Well, at least he got it in. My 17 year old would have left it on the line, drenched.

Chewbecca · 06/03/2023 19:14

Mine wouldn’t have noticed.

carriedout · 06/03/2023 19:14

Mine would all have put it somewhere sensible at that age.

Findyourneutralspace · 06/03/2023 19:14

YANBU but mine would have left it out in the rain if I didn’t specifically ask

MajesticWhine · 06/03/2023 19:15

Amazing that they brought it in at all.

Chasingsquirrels · 06/03/2023 19:15

My 17yo - likely wouldn't have brought it in (but then I don't line dry) but if he did I think he'd have done more than dump it.

My 20yo - definitely wouldn't have brought it in. And on the very small possibility that he did, definitely would have just dumped it.

FictionalCharacter · 06/03/2023 19:18

At 17 mine would have put it in a laundry basket and probably left it in the kitchen.
Did you ask him why he dropped it on the floor and made it dirty again?

TradedAngelsForMyDemons · 06/03/2023 19:19

If they had washed it and hung it out, they would have brought it in and put it in the tumble dryer at that age.

If they hadn’t been involved in washing or hanging of it, I doubt they would have noticed.

Bunnyishotandcross · 06/03/2023 19:19

Ime there is no logic like that of a teen...
Ds ( prob about 17) told me he left puddles on the bathroom floor as he didn't want to get the bath mats wet by standing on them.. He genuinely had no idea that is actually their purpose..

How dirty are your floors? 😬😂

Fair point! 😁

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 06/03/2023 19:21

One wouldn't have noticed, the other would have taken it in, folded it loosely and put it in the airing cupboard.

hiredandsqueak · 06/03/2023 19:22

Mine probably wouldn't have noticed it was raining or seen the washing on the line. If I text them to get it in they would dump it on the table for me to sort later.

Murraydeservedit · 06/03/2023 19:24

Mine wouldn’t have even noticed it was raining or that there was washing hanging out.

Even if he looked out the window and saw washing being rained on, it wouldn’t occur to
him to do a bloody thing about it.

I tried. I really bloody tried and I don’t know where I went wrong.

Okunevo · 06/03/2023 19:24

He might not register that the washing was out and it was raining unless I explicitly told him to get the washing in if it rains. If he brought it in he would put it over the banister or drying rack to dry. He wouldn't leave it in the washing basket if it had been rained on!

Murraydeservedit · 06/03/2023 19:25

Although when I was 17, it wouldn’t have registered with me either. I’d have just left it too.

Aw he will grow up eventually

Goneback2school · 06/03/2023 19:30

Mine is starting to be proactive about things like that so I'd say if he left his room for long enough to notice the rain and/ or the stuff on the line there is a fair chance he would bring it in.

Goneback2school · 06/03/2023 19:31

He would probably put it on the counter or table.

Possibly.
