Do you like your breadbin and can you recommend one for family of 4 (we have loaf, bagels and crumpets on the go)

I use a shelf basket that attaches to the bottom of a cupboard

I have this one. It's pretty but entirely too small. Which means 90% if the time either the bagels or the bread are perched on top instead of inside because it can only really hold a loaf and crumpets (at a push) and so it looks messy regardless of sleek design.

I have exactly this one too. Totally agree!! It fits a load of bread in, and maybe one bagel or two crumpets squashed in vertically at the end. I end up having random bread products in the cupboard, defeating the purpose of having a bread bin.
Plus, if it's empty, the lid always slips into the bin itself when I'm trying to take it off to put my (one) loaf in it.

We use the bottom shelf in the cupboard above the toaster. Loads of room.

Our bread is kept on top of the microwave. Previous bread bin(s) became clutter magnets, ended up holding bits and pieces of kids toys and things left in pockets from the washing basket. So I just decided we weren't going to have one any more.

We had a bread bin but found so much was getting forgotten and going mouldy so we now just have a designated section where the bready bits live in a tidy stack.

We keep our bread in the freezer and defrost as we go to avoid waste: we have a freezer drawer entirely devoted to bready products: a white loaf, a brown loaf, crumpets, excess bread rolls etc. If we're toasting, it can cook from frozen (including crumpets), with the relevant setting on the toaster.
If we need untoasted bread, either 10 minutes at room temperature or 10-20 seconds in the microwave.
Packed lunches are usually made with bread rolls or bagels, for which we have a small shelf in a cupboard. I recently had a good sort out of my cupboards to accommodate the bagels & rolls because I was sick of them taking up worktop space, so wouldn't consider a bread bin because of the space it takes up!

When I win the lottery and can justify £70(!) on a bread bin I will buy this one

We have this, I thought DP was crazy and it was only £50 then but tbh its really good!

I have had bread bins in the past. Never found them big enough inside, but take up loads of work surface.
we use a shelf in a cupboard!

We also have the Joseph Joseph one but in black. I like it but we often have something sat on top, especially when the shopping has been delivered and we still have some bits left from the previous week.

SparkyBlue · 25/02/2023 09:49

I badly need a bread bin. I just use a cupboard shelf but we use so much bread products between school packed lunches and working from home lunches we need a better solution
