I like this one,it’s big but a bit pricey. The bright red one is cheaper.

I keep mine in the microwave so the cat can’t get it Grin he has a habit of taking a bite out of every slice if he gets hold of it Envy

😂 That's funny.

My friends cat used to love getting hold of a loaf bread but he just liked to sit on it or lie across it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She also uses the cat proof microwave as bread storage now.

Have this one
https://www.bodum.com/gb/en/11555-451s-bistro?gclid=CjwKCAiA9NGfBhBvEiwAq5vSy7vzieHGlqzfbBNfMMqnjFEm1hIoFqUW2K2AEfG2SoBlRBk2PL4-hoCbSEQAvDD_BwE

It nicely fits a loaf and then some bagel thins or crumpets as well ... lid flips over to be hard as bread board which is nice too

desperatehousewife2 · 21/02/2023 19:22

This is ours, the brand is Swan

My bread products live in a wall cupboard (empty shelf!) above the toaster & fridge.
Usually have a loaf, wraps, sugar waffles or choc chip brioche or similar.

Love the Swan and Bodum ones. Amazing colours on the Bodum website!

Ooh that’s nice @BestIsWest looks a decent size too?

We have it too, in cream. It was expensive but it’s lasted years. I’ve been married for 33 years and it’s only the second bread bin we’ve ever owned

DaisyDando · 21/02/2023 20:32

I also have the Joseph Joseph one and I like it. It’s white and the lid is nice and heavy. It’s not perfect though. It’s about 9 years old or thereabouts.

NotMeNoNo · 21/02/2023 20:45

A drop front one like this, needed space on top. peppercorn.net/bakeware-silverwood-tins-accessories/beech-bread-bin

But is darker wood and was from Homesense

AlwaysLatte · 21/02/2023 21:05

My husband bought one with a bread board lid, which is great (by Nigella)

I finally conceded ours was way too small and just bought this from Wayfair

Brilliant idea! I'm not a fan of bread bins so the microwave would do nicely.

Lastminutebride · 21/02/2023 21:13

Don’t have a bread in, just store it in a cupboard. This thread has made me realise that we eat a lot of bread products - at any one time we have loaf of white bread, wholemeal loaf, wraps, oatcakes, bagels, tiger rolls, normal rolls, panini’s and either part baked rolls or crumpets.

when we used to have a bread bin it all just ended up being store into and around it rather than in it

Ilovechoc12 · 21/02/2023 21:22

4 kids and I keep all bread / bagels / crumpets in the fridge - keeps fresh for longer

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/02/2023 21:23

I use a kitchen cupboard. We bloody love bread 🍞 😋

maryofthevirginkind · 21/02/2023 21:25

We don't have one. We have a basket in a cupboard that contains, bread, crumpets, fruit tea cakes etc. a bread bin isn't big enough for us!

Cincinnatus · 21/02/2023 21:26

I thought it went in the fridge 😬

Galadriel90 · 21/02/2023 21:27

A Wesco breadboy. Love it. It was pricey but I've had it for over 10 years.

I’ve ordered the Brabantia fall front bread bin.

Not the prettiest but lots of space.

I don't have a bread bin. I keep all the bread, wraps, bagels etc. in a cupboard. Do I need a bread bin. Slightly worried that I'm lowering the tone of Mumsnet as I do have a toilet brush. Wink

As long as we’re not talking either or 😂

this is my bread bin

BogRollBOGOF · 22/02/2023 10:26

Mine has a clear front so it doesn't turn into a breeding and mutation centre. Probably the same one as mentioned on p1.

I can get a couple of loaves and some baked goods in, and they do seem to stay fresher for longer in there.

DM had a an old metal one with lifting front. I hated opening it to find green, furry life-forms in there so I've always stayed away from solid ones.
