F***ING RYANAIR. A Warning

Wavingnotdowning · 20/02/2023 12:48

Please don't make the expensive mistake I have. I booked my parking at Stansted at the same time as my flight. Now my flight has been moved to a day earlier. I cannot change my parking as, although booked through Ryanair, it is with a third party. I have now to wave goodbye. £69.99. So please all be careful, book directly with the parking company itself, which allows you to amend your times. Rant over!

Oh that’s appalling. Didn’t seem right or fair does it? Thanks for the heads up though!

I find holiday extras to be really good and responsive with queries. I hope you can get sorted.

Wavingnotdowning · 20/02/2023 12:57

No - really not fair. I just thought posting might make others aware. I will have a look at holiday extras.

Oh god Ryanair really are the pits. Can you contact them via Twitter or somewhere considering they're the ones changing the flight!

Surely the issue is with the third party company. Not with Ryanair.

KattyKattyKatz · 20/02/2023 13:02

I would love to go to Ireland but Ryanair is the only way I would get there so no

husbandcallsmepickle · 20/02/2023 13:03

We had something similar. Booked parking via Ryanair and DH has since changed his car. Ended up writing it off and paying for new parking due to the new registration.

thisplaceisweird · 20/02/2023 13:03

It's not Ryanair's fault. Have you spoken to the parking company? Is there a policy to change dates? You also don't need to accept the flight change, you can get a full refund and then rebook with another company.

pottshrigley · 20/02/2023 13:04

This happened to me at Manchester, I called the parking place and they changed the times of the booking. It must be different at different airports.

Did you miss the bit in the OP where it says the parking was booked through Ryanair?!

You should not be so defeatist! I travel back and forth with Ryanair several times a year and to and from other European destinations regularly with absolutely no issues EVER!

Can you tell us more about your reasons for not using them? BTW I use Aer Lingus occasionally also, but I find their scheduling and pricing is not competitive with Ryanair for the same destinations. I have absolutely no connections with Ryanair for the record.

Rosa · 20/02/2023 13:10

Once booked flight and car hire with Easy Jet- Flight got cancelled I chose to go to heathrow and take Easy Jet refund. Could I move the car hire ?- Not a hope. Tried contacting the C/h company directly as was arriving very late. Tried calling E jet / E Jet holidays- Gave up and booked with someone else then had a battle and a half to get my money back ... Always very wary now with Airline extras that re farmed out !

Wavingnotdowning · 20/02/2023 13:18

BitOutOfPractice, you are brilliant. I have rebooked with Holiday Extras, and downloaded the app where I can amend my booking with no problem should Ryanair mess me about again.

PillBoxes Honestly, I know what you mean, but I really am not defeatist. I Have spent all morning on the phone and I think I have to be pragmatic. Please, everyone, learn from my mistake and never book parking through Ryanair. They moved the flight, but I cannot amend a third party booking, come hell or high water.

EasyJet to Belfast then get the train to Dublin, couple of hours and you're there!

I can honestly say I have never had any
problems with Ryanair. They provide what they say cheap flights with no frills.
I have however been on Ryanair flights with some extremely rude and difficult customers abusing the cabin staff for issues completely out of their control

Yup, EasyJet to Belfast, then travel via train etc to where you want to go. Or stay in Belfast, it’s fab!

Mumsgirls · 20/02/2023 13:30

Have family in Ireland but nearest airport is Ryanair?. I go to the next one to avoid them or take the ferry. Based on experience refuse to ever fly with them no matter how cheap.
is the an ombudsman, this is basic unfair practice . Typical of them though. Customer always wrong

Yes completely agree. It’s a past time here to bash Ryanair but I have never had a problem with them at all. Maybe you should have read the terms and conditions before booking the parking @Wavingnotdowning

What happened in the past that was so bad you’d now rather get the ferry? Hell would freeze over before I got the ferry over any flight.

bilbodog · 20/02/2023 13:44

I agree with you OP as i got caught out with this.

wheelywheelynice · 20/02/2023 13:45

@Wavingnotdowning could you contact your card issuer about a chargeback?
It's not right that they should get away with effectively stealing money from you.

Ceryneianhind · 20/02/2023 13:53

How far in advance did they change the day of flight?

They have to give you 14 days under eu directive 261 (if European)

The ferry, use any of the other airlines that fly here, hell fly into Belfast if you have to and travel. There are many ways to get into Ireland without using ryanair - not that I have ever had a problem with them.

What part of Ireland is ryanair airport? 😛

Hollyhobbi · 20/02/2023 13:58

Fly with both Ryanair and Aer Lingus. Have to say Ryanair refunded most of my and my daughter's flight money after I developed a DVT two days before we were due to fly out. Aer Lingus who we due to fly back with refunded about €7 per flight!
