F***ING RYANAIR. A Warning

Please don't make the expensive mistake I have. I booked my parking at Stansted at the same time as my flight. Now my flight has been moved to a day earlier. I cannot change my parking as, although booked through Ryanair, it is with a third party. I have now to wave goodbye. £69.99. So please all be careful, book directly with the parking company itself, which allows you to amend your times. Rant over!

The issue you have is with the third party, rather than RyanAir.
It is booked via a third party - this is very obvious as it takes you to a whole new website with a different name.
When you select parking is says clearly non cancellable - in bold.
If you click in the info button it gives further details under a section names cancellations and amendments.
It then directs you to a next page which is headed Ryan air but still mentions the third party.
When you confirm to pay you have to tick a button to read the T&C.
The section is clearly labelled cancellations and amendments again, and point 4.3 makes it really clear.

I always check as it isn't just RyanAir's third party that does this. Others do too.
I only book parking which can be amended and always check if it isn't clear on the first pages.

I tend to book either direct with the official airport parking or via a holiday `extras, selecting the option which allows changes.

That poxy! I hate this type of airline, I had flights for our family of 4, tried online checkin and it wasn't working, tried everything and we were flying the following morning at 6am ... got to the desk and had to go to the flight desk ... sorry we can't help you, it cost us £75 ish per person ... I was LIVID! And they told me 'don't worry you can claim it back ... but they wouldn't return our money even though it was their software issues 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Also don't book car hire through RyanAir. We had a similar thing where we paid for insurance and whatever other extras or the car online through RyanAir, but when we landed the car hire company said the RyanAir insurance didn't cover everything and we had to take out an additional policy. Tbf only lost £15 but the principal of it pissed me off more!

Again, that isn't just RyanAir. Many places try it when booked, some even do it when booked and paid online direct! We almost always just say no as it's usually just the car rental company trying to upswell you, and isn't needed.

Abraxan · 20/02/2023 20:17

Upsell - not upswell!

Upsell - not upswell!

We thought it was just upselling but they wouldn't let us take the car without 'their' policy.

Surely the issue is with the third party company. Not with Ryanair.

This.

It's their ts and C's that prevent you from changing times that's the issue here.

Ryanair aren't responsible for that.

Abraxan · 20/02/2023 20:33

We have never had them tell us we can't take the car away. The basic insurance has always been enough, even when we have had to book via RyanAir. I still think that was the rental company tbh - the basic insurance RA includes is definitely sufficient. Used it only last week too and was fine.

The Dublin airport taxi situation is appalling. I've queued for 45 minutes in the rain, the aircoach does not go near my daughters house . I'm over for a funeral this week , in and out in a day and the worst bit is getting out of Dublin airport .
Ryanair are ok , but never never book your parking thorough them we had a nightmare with them recently. Car hire ok, although with hertz is often comparable and much better service

buckeejit · 20/02/2023 22:05

It's not just Ryanair. Friend booked Heathrow express at £70 then BA changed the flights. No compensation for add ons. 3rd BA flight change in last couple of
Years for them

I might just order a taxi once I'd landed then - free now is great. www.free-now.com/ie/airport-pickup/#c97620

Or if in a real rush and cost not a problem, lots of companies do meet and greet.

Hope funeral visit goes well for you

Carriemac · 21/02/2023 08:20

I have an issues with free now , last time I got a taxi to airport I realised it was adding a 20% tip automatically, and I can't see how to disable it

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/02/2023 08:30

We've flown once and otherwise use the ferry. Advantage of the ferry is having your own car.

Or just be less tight and tip the driver?

It's not tight to not want to pay an additional 20% above cost. Or even 1%.

belleager · 21/02/2023 16:28

See the pay setting there when you're booking @Carriemac ? Don't know if you're on Android but I can click on that and change to zero or other amounts

You can also change during the journey - it's not fixed once you've booked

Free now/Uber types are not allowed to pick up at airport arrival doors. They can drop at departures for sure, but taxis have a special arrangement for the rank, and if you ain't a member you don't get to do Free Now there.

The pick up point for Free Now is a bit of a trek away in zone 18. But if that works for you it might be better than waiting at the rank for the guts of an hour sometimes.

Sazzyjb · 21/02/2023 16:57

When did Ryanair change your flight? Surely unusual to change it to the day before - normally they cancel or delay? Strange. I have always had a good experience with Ryanair, you get what you pay for!

SisterAgatha · 21/02/2023 17:00

Ryanair charged me for water for my 9 month old baby on a 2hr 59min delay from Italy where we had sat on the plane for the majority of that time.

print it daily mail, I’m happy for people to know that.

Yes - they've a pickup point for each terminal, and when you book you get directions to walk there. They're not far from the buses. Dublin airport is compact.
