It’s the little things isn’t it?

DP and I have to go and run a few errands today, he was finishing getting dressed and I was making the bed. I said “I’m goi g to have a quick shower before we go” and he nodded, walked into the bathroom and turned the shower on for me so it was running warm when I got in there.

It’s such a little thing but he does a lot of little things and they add up to much, much greater than any big gesture.

Any other examples of ‘little things’?

My partner makes me a coffee every morning. Also randomly brings me flowers as a suprise. Not loads but a few times a year.
Sometimes I'll come home to a spotless kitchen or bathroom as well, if I've popped out for a couple of hours.

QueenMabs · 18/02/2023 11:52

He de iced my car for me.

ÉireannachÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ · 18/02/2023 11:53

Ahh that is lovely. My husband does little things too which make me feel really loved. Like when I get up I find a cup of tea brewing for me....he gets in from night shift just before I wake up to get ready for my day shift.
Other day I asked him to iron the children's uniform and he ironed my uniform as well. Things like this 😊

thistimelastweek · 18/02/2023 12:20

He makes ma a hot water bottle whilst I get ready for bed.

Therunecaster · 18/02/2023 12:28

My partner is the kindest person I know. He makes me a cup of tea every morning and will go out of his way to make me happy.

Love him to bits

WinterMermaid987 · 18/02/2023 12:29

Hot water bottle put in the bed when I’m late home, is my favourite.

YaWeeSkitter · 18/02/2023 15:03

My nightclothes put under the duvet (and in top of the electric blanket) when Ive been out in the evening.
Cup of tea in bed every morning.

OoohWhatchaSay · 18/02/2023 15:13

Love these!
My husband puts my pjs on the radiator so they're warm ready for when I get out of the shower Smile

Chelsea26 · 18/02/2023 15:27

Aww these are sweet! Lots of warming us up isn’t there?

It’s lovely because I imagine we’re all strong independent women who can do everything for ourselves, but not having to because someone cares about you is so nice!

christmascalypso · 18/02/2023 15:35

De-ices my car for me, brings me a cuppa in bed in the morning, will always offer to go to Tescos if I've forgotten something I need to cook dinner with (he works full time and I've just retired!) and makes my G & T's for me at the weekend!!

JMAngel1 · 18/02/2023 15:45

Love this thread - MN is usually far too DH bashing.
My DH always brings me tea in bed on weekends. He de-ices my windscreen too if he leaves before me and makes my nighttime hot drink every night and leaves it next to the bath for me.
He’s even started lighting my special night time candle.
He’ll send me little texts throughout the day with links to something funny or where we’re going on holiday this summer.

ThreeRingCircus · 18/02/2023 15:54

It is definitely the little things OP. It's about treating someone with kindness and showing that you love them in a range of small ways.

I came home from work yesterday and DH had hand-washed all my delicate laundry that I'd been leaving until I had enough to do it and had hung it up on the airer.

He gets up in the night with DDs just as much as I do and always has done, even when I wasn't working and he was working full time.

He does all the washing up and cleans the kitchen down every night as I do all the cooking.

He makes me a G&T just the way I like it.

Similarly I try and do little things for him:

Pick him up something nice from the supermarket just as a treat.

Make him a cup of coffee without asking or being asked.

Fill his hot water bottle.

Have breakfast ready for him when he comes downstairs.

Just little things like that.

Adelaide66 · 18/02/2023 15:57

A treat to hear of so much Kindness

MsMarch · 18/02/2023 16:17

I told DD the other day to find a man like her daddy - one who gets out of bed early on his day off, so that he can de-ice the car before we left for school.

I do totally agree its the little things. I could do with more flowers though! Grin

TokyoSushi · 18/02/2023 16:23

We came back from holiday late last night. He woke up early so went and did a big food shop which was all done and put away just as I got up. You can keep your grand gestures, this is the sort of thing I love!

fearfulexchange · 18/02/2023 16:43

Lovely to read all of these.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/02/2023 16:46

Every night he holds my hand and says he loves me. He always makes sure I have a bottle of water on my bedside table.

MuggleMe · 18/02/2023 16:47

Puts the outside light on when I go out
De-ices the car
Saves shows he starts on Netflix to watch together if he thinks I'd enjoy them

TheSnowyOwl · 18/02/2023 16:49

Mine also de-ices the car and puts the right blanket on the car seat to keep our autistic dd warm. He does lots of little things. As you say, they count.

OfDragonsDeep · 18/02/2023 16:51

Mine gets up early with the kids at the weekends so I can have a lie in

Girasoli · 18/02/2023 16:59

Makes me coffee in the mornings and brings me back minstrels and sometimes daffodils from the supermarket.

Puts out DS1s school uniform/PE kit and packs his snack pot and waterbottle on the mornings he goes to the office before the rest of us wake up - because he knows I find it stressful doing the school then nursery then work run by myself.

AlisonDonut · 18/02/2023 16:59

Goes to the shop when we need snacks

Always sorts the kitchen out no matter what mess I make

Makes coffee and toast every morning and coffee after lunch

Makes sure I always have a tank of hot water for my nightly bath.

Makes sure all the washing is washed, dried and popped back on the beds.

Makes me any snacks or hot drinks as and when needed.

Goes out every morning first thing to check on the feral kittens and make sure they have some food and water.

Greyingmumto3 · 18/02/2023 17:03

Mine leaves me a cup of tea in the morning in my insulated cup . 😀

Buildingthefuture · 18/02/2023 17:14

My DH makes me coffee in bed every morning. I don’t sleep well so he found this magnesium cream that he rubs on my feet every night at bed time (it helps!) He fills the windscreen wash in my car, books me occasional spa treatments for no reason, supports me in my (sometimes expensive and always time consuming) hobby, encourages me at work, cooks dinner most nights and is generally a good man.
