I went out tonight. OMG

First time in a pub with a band for around a year, at least.

I got knocked so many times and my drink spilt. I got my foot trodden on. I was squashed. Very crowded. Too busy. Trying to hold drink and handbag & dance at same time was near on impossible.

Never ever again. Trouble is, my friends love it

Anyone else relate?

That life is not for me anymore 😂
Loads of people I know even older than me still love the drinking till all hours, crowded sweaty pubs. Just don't see the appeal anymore, maybe I'm boring but the hangovers are absolutely not worth it. I also go really generous when I'm drunk and wake up with no money so it's a pass from me 🤣

Parsnipsandginger · 12/02/2023 01:16

Totally with you ! I binned my drinks off when frienDs weren't looking tonight. So I'm not drunk at least.
I'm 50 and done with nights like these

Nothing's changed then!

Except us 😂Sounds like hell... to me in my forties. To be fair, I was done with nights like that by my late twenties.

Kate8990 · 12/02/2023 01:21

@Vintagecreamandcottagepie Same here, I',m 32 now and it's been a few years.

whatwhhat · 12/02/2023 01:25

15 years ago that would have been a great night (probably multiple times a week).

Now the thought of it makes me want to cry 😅

Bagpuss2022 · 12/02/2023 03:19

No my idea of hell I prefer a nice meal home by 10 In pjs or like tonight we went to my mums with my brother and sister and there families a nice takeaway a few drinks and some fun family games.
cheaper too!

Ragwort · 12/02/2023 03:21

I'm so boring I don't think I've ever had a night out like that since my student days ... 40 years ago Grin.

WrendaleCountryDogs · 12/02/2023 03:28

I'm 35 and have only ever been in toby carvery type pubs, and only for a meal. I've never done the whole night out getting drunk thing.. don't think I'm missing out!

NotTooParticular · 12/02/2023 03:51

If you've only been to Toby Carvery I'd say you're missing out! The great British institution that is The Pub is something everyone should experience 🤣

LanternGhost · 12/02/2023 03:52

I just always need a place to sit and heels are for looking decorative while sitting. I'm only 33!

Jusmakingit · 12/02/2023 06:11

Couldn’t think of anything worst. Was done with all that by my mid to late 20’s. The thought of it all and then having a raging hangover the next day , I think I would die now lol 😂 such a waste of a day as well lol 😂

GoodChat · 12/02/2023 06:23

Places that are too busy for you to be able to dance or where your drink keeps getting knocked are never fun!

ABigSpot · 12/02/2023 07:00

I did this for a hen do recently. So so loud as well. Not for me!

Whatthediddlyfeck · 12/02/2023 07:02

My friends and I go out in the afternoon for all these reasons! What you had is also my idea of hell

Krayvon2 · 12/02/2023 07:03

I prefer quiet country pubs these days with a few drinks and nice meal then off home to bed

KangarooKenny · 12/02/2023 07:04

My night goes like this -
8pm shower/bath and PJ’s.
9pm take my magnesium
10pm read a proper book in bed
10.30pm sleep
I’m living the dream !

Mumdiva99 · 12/02/2023 07:08

I have started regularly going to a live music venue. It has space to dance. You don't get bumped into.....unless it gets manic on the dance floor!! Yes u mostly watch tribute acts. But I can drink and dance (and sing along). I'm nearly 50 and I LOVE it. But it's what I used to love doing when I was younger. It's just taken me years to find the right venue again....

CrystalCoco · 12/02/2023 07:10

I prefer a nice restaurant and home by 1030-11pm 😬

3LittleFishes · 12/02/2023 07:18

Sounds good to me, I've got a couple of similar sounding nights out planned at the end of this month!
I don't go out as often as I used to (40 this year) but still enjoy it when I do😊
I also enjoy nights in with a film, some wine and a nice thick blanket.
Do whatever makes you happiest.

Yeah me too. I’m in my forties as well.

The restaurant part sounds perfect but we are early birds so often in bed by 9.45-10.00.
🙄😊

All rock and roll me 😂

TitInATrance · 12/02/2023 07:27

Found a pub that has live bands 5-7 pm on Sundays, seats available and I don’t drink - heaven. I’m in my 60s as are many of the clientele.

Like small-venue seated gigs as well, try jazz or folk.

CeriB82 · 12/02/2023 07:27

I hate going out. I dread each invitation TBH. I always make an excuse not to go.

i dont go and having to pretend that im enjoying myself. My face would say otherwise

There's definitely bonus points to be had if you can be home in bed by 9.45! 👌

Ah I like the sound of that!
