I have succumbed and bought an Oodie

I am just so sick of being cold! I can’t afford to have the heating above 15 degrees, my car heater doesn’t work, and it’s cold at work too. The only time I feel really warm when s in the shower!
so I have succumbed and bought an Oodie, and I feel like I am going to live in it, as attractive as that will be for dp. 😂
have you got one? Would love people’s opinions, good or bad…

It’s amazing! Best purchase I ever made 👍..inWFH and live in it

FatSealSmugSoup · 10/02/2023 08:09

Yes. It’s ok, the pouch is handy. It’s not as warm as I thought it’d be - people sweating in them must have good CH or live in the south, not the far north of Scotland!

for the love of god don’t tumble dry or you’ll end up with a Crispee - expensive mistake.

Lifesyoungdream · 10/02/2023 08:09

I love my mine.

angelopal · 10/02/2023 08:09

Have one but it is not a real oodie. Just a copy cat that was cheaper. It is so cosy and wear it all the time when wfh.

Tirednest · 10/02/2023 08:09

Sending thoughts and prayers 🙏

Pinkypurplecloud · 10/02/2023 08:10

Love it, live in it, went back and bought myself a second one. I don’t wear one out the house because it looks ridiculous, but I am often sorely tempted!

LadyHarmby · 10/02/2023 08:10

I want one but I know I will never take it off so I am resisting.

Sohappyrun · 10/02/2023 08:11

@Pinkypurplecloud im considering a second…in a different design, cos I like the designs and also it starts to smell when you wear it every day so it’s nice to have a spare when it’s in the wash

Fedupofdiets · 10/02/2023 08:12

I have one and it has been a game changer. I really feel the cold and find it so uncomfortable but now I sometimes feel too warm! My OH hates it with a passion but hey ho thats tough shite! Enjoy 😂

ThreeRingCircus · 10/02/2023 08:13

I have two! A thick, proper Oodie then a thinner one from Dunelm. I also have a towelling one for when I get out of the shower as it's better than a dressing gown always coming undone!

Love them and when you're freezing cold they really help. Wouldn't wear it out of the house though although I'm tempted to take one when I go camping!

familyissues12345 · 10/02/2023 08:14

Love mine...

Shitfather · 10/02/2023 08:17

Love mine. It’s saved me from switching on the heating all winter.

ExplodingCarrots · 10/02/2023 08:19

We love ours . Absolutely a game changer.

TeamadIshbel · 10/02/2023 08:19

One was bought for me as a gift. I'm menopausal and after 15 minutes I'm roasting. It's the cosiest thing I've ever had, very soft and warm, sometimes turn it the other way round and put feet in! It goes upto waist. If I wfh in it, it is really comforting and lying on couch with hood up, I'm asleep in 5 minutes. Like being immersed in a cloud!

PuttingDownRoots · 10/02/2023 08:21

I have an amazon one and a dunelm one. The amazon one is a lot shorter so fits under my coat when watching rugby practise... it was heavenly.

The dunelm one us Ravenclaw and very snuggly. I wouldnt want thicker but I. Doing housework etc in it... probably different sitting at a desk.

SantaBakula · 10/02/2023 08:31

I have been really tempted to buy one but the real ones are so expensive, are the knock offs worth the money = warmth

LilLilLi · 10/02/2023 08:32

I got a Kuddly for Christmas which is basically the same as an Oodie and it’s a game changer.

Ive had my heating on much less, it’s so warm and cosy the only downside is it’s a struggle to take it off!

Tirednest · 10/02/2023 08:34

I have never succumbed to an Oodie, but if anyone is looking for a very warm throw the Heatholders ones are absolutely brilliant. We have a draughty house and this blanket is the only one that keeps me toasty on the sofa in the evening. You can get them on amazon I think they are about 25

I don't think anyone can answer that as we all have a different idea of warm! Plus there's what you are doing in it... sofa or desk or housework or outdoors...

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 10/02/2023 08:39

I bought Oodies for my 2 adult DDs and for DSs girlfriend. All three of them are working from home. All three say they never take them off!

I've bought a lookie-likey for younger DD too; she also loves it. Thought about one for myself, but DH is a demon with the central heating and I have the menopause to keep me warm, too.

SantaBakula · 10/02/2023 08:44

@PuttingDownRoots you are right, but I was hoping there would be a general consensus.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 10/02/2023 08:45

DS and I have one each. DH was "too cool" for one and now regrets it when we're roastie toastie and he's shivering.

BusySittingDown · 10/02/2023 08:50

I'm always cold so I treated myself to one at Christmas and funnily enough MIL bought me a cheapie one as a Christmas present (sorry, I don't mean that it's cheap but it's not a real one, it's from Dunelm).

I wear the cheap one round the house as it's thinner and I can do jobs in it and I'm warm. The real one I use for snuggling up on the sofa, it's so warm it sends me to sleep 😂.

I got Oodies for the rest of the family too (DH and 2 DDs). The DDs never have theirs off! As soon as they get home from school they get their pyjamas and Oodies on. They also have a Tesco version each and they alternate but the Tesco ones are a lot thinner. More like a dressing gown whereas the Oodies are more like a huge blanket.

Ballofstrings · 10/02/2023 08:53

I bought one on Amazon a couple of months ago and I love it. It’s a full length one. I’m 5’5” and it reaches my ankles. It was £22.99. It washes well and dries fairly quickly hung on a coat hanger on a door frame. Lovely and warm.
Negatives…
I’m so cosy I fall asleep watching tv.
It’s a shock to the system when I remove it and realise how low the temperature has dropped in the house.
I couldn’t bear to remove it one night going to bed but it was far too warm to sleep while wearing it.

fruitpastille · 10/02/2023 08:53

I wouldn't spend the money on a genuine oodie but I absolutely love my Aldi one. It's thick but not as padded as an oodie and reaches my knees. I usually only wear it over pjs in the evening (or if I'm ill) as it makes me lazy!
