I have succumbed and bought an Oodie

I am just so sick of being cold! I can’t afford to have the heating above 15 degrees, my car heater doesn’t work, and it’s cold at work too. The only time I feel really warm when s in the shower!
so I have succumbed and bought an Oodie, and I feel like I am going to live in it, as attractive as that will be for dp. 😂
have you got one? Would love people’s opinions, good or bad…

Yes me and DP have one each. He actually says his is too warm Grin not an official 'oodie' branded one tho, we bought from primark

Love it, live in it, went back and bought myself a second one. I don’t wear one out the house because it looks ridiculous, but I am often sorely tempted!

I saw someone wearing one at a supermarket self service checkout, she looked like she was in her nightwear. It wasn’t a good look. It’s put me right off getting one as it looked really 😬

I want one but I know I will never take it off so I am resisting.

This is why I have reassured so far!

I succumbed and bought one in the sale. I love it! It's so cosy and warm and I now understand the appeal. The only downside is that it's so bulky. If I walk pass the side table it swipes stuff off it - I'm forever knocking stuff over in it.
Upside, I'm now so cosy when lazing around on the sofa watching TV.

I have two! A thick, proper Oodie then a thinner one from Dunelm. I also have a towelling one for when I get out of the shower as it's better than a dressing gown always coming undone!

Love them and when you're freezing cold they really help. Wouldn't wear it out of the house though although I'm tempted to take one when I go camping!

I took mine camping last year - wore it when walking back from the shower block so all my bits got air dried Grin It was quite a liberating experience at 53!

OneGoodThing · 10/02/2023 08:58

DH and I both WFH so I bought two before Christmas. They're so warm but bigger than I expected, like those massive It's a Knockout costumes - I feel as if I should be carrying my cup of tea across a greasy pole above a swimming pool while Stuart Hall cackles wildly in the background, not just walking back to my desk.

TallulahBetty · 10/02/2023 09:00

I have a fake one from Avon and I was sceptical that it would make a difference (always nesh, me). But I am amazed! I've not had to put the heating on in the day at all since.

WithIcePlease · 10/02/2023 09:00

I noticed in Primark before Christmas that they had 2 different types. Some were single layer of fleece but others were 2 layers with a plain (?sherpa) fluffy layer inside and a fleecy patterned layer on the outside.
It may be worth looking irl for a thicker one rather than forking out for a branded one

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 10/02/2023 09:01

Absolutely love our Oodies and they were well worth the money. I bought them for us all a couple of Christmases ago and then bought another lot this year for DDs to take back to Uni and for their boyfriends. Buying a bundle means they were cheaper than buying individually. Also, due to a shipping delay, Oodie (who have excellent customer service) gave me money off meaning I got four for approximately £30 each, considering how much less we’ve had to put the heating on this year, that’s a total bargain.

SantaBakula · 10/02/2023 08:31

I have been really tempted to buy one but the real ones are so expensive, are the knock offs worth the money = warmth

I have a kuddly , and loads of reviews say it's better than an oodie . I think they're a little longer . I tried a friends one from Amazon and its not the same . It's worth paying that little bit extra . You can get good deals . I had an email from kuddly this morning and they're doing buy one get one free with code Loveislove . Works out £45 each which is what I paid for ours .

Ah, this made me whimper with nostalgia! I loved It's a Knockout as a child. The international version was the best!

PuttingDownRoots · 10/02/2023 08:37

I don't think anyone can answer that as we all have a different idea of warm! Plus there's what you are doing in it... sofa or desk or housework or outdoors...

I bought mine from Amazon - comes down to my knees. Lovely and warm when working from home.

HotDogsJumpingFrogsILoveTurkey · 10/02/2023 09:13

They are ridiculous, awful looking things... but boy! do I love mine!

I'm sure I'll get withdrawal symptoms and feel bereft when it becomes too warm to wear it. All. The. Time.

I got ill last week. The day after I had to put my oodie in the wash and couldn't wear it for a few days while it dried. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Mine is covered with scags because the cat loves it also as much as me. I regularly threaten my child that I'll pick her up from school in it if she doesn't stop doing x. I wouldn't but the threat works! 😂

AlrightJulia · 10/02/2023 09:18

We've all got genuine ones and they have been worth the initial outlay as we just don't need the heating on so high or for so long anymore. Although mine is currently in the wash and I'm feeling the chill! Might need an emergency back up oodie to be worn by whoever's actual oodie is in the wash that week!

HotDogsJumpingFrogsILoveTurkey · 10/02/2023 09:19

But yes, they can start to smell like a hamster if you wear them all the time.

ManyNameChanges · 10/02/2023 09:39

Yep.
I really wondered if all the hype was true. But it was and it’s amazing.

Im now considering buying a second one so I can wash the first more easily. I’m struggling when I have to wait fir it to dry and I’m cold lol

TiaraBoo · 10/02/2023 09:40

I’ve got 2 fake oodies- 1 from Amazon which is thick and 1 from Dunelm which is thinner. So I can wear the appropriate one depending on how cold it is.
Best things ever for working from home.
Kids live in theirs too.

Real, fake… just buy one and you’ll be happy (except you can’t leave the house, but that’s overrated)

Fuwari · 10/02/2023 09:45

I can confirm that cats love them! If I want to guarantee a cat on my lap I stick my oodie on. I got one each for me and DD in the sale and we’ve worn them loads and it’s definitely saved me more in heating than they cost. Only downside is they’re so cuddly it makes me want to go to sleep. Like wearing a hug.

VoluptuaSneezelips · 10/02/2023 09:45

My daughter bought me a dupe with Percy Pig on. Im only 5'2 so it comes down to my ankles. I look bloody ridiculous in it but I don't care as comfort & warmth is more important. Only downside is one of my cats loves it a little too much. Keeps making biscuits on my chest causing snags in the floof whilst simultaneously trying to insert his head up my nostrils.

Hibye23289 · 10/02/2023 09:48

Yes they are the best! Keeps me so warm, I sometimes go bed in it

CoffeeWithCheese · 10/02/2023 09:50

I need to remember to take mine off before answering teams calls - just had half the office jump in to see my beautiful one!

CornedBeefandCarnage · 10/02/2023 10:23

The six of us were generously given Oodies for Christmas.
Apart from DC1 who wears theirs in their University house we found them way too hot and bulky.
DH shuns anything to do with lounging wouldn't even try his on. I sold them a couple of weeks ago.

Blablablablaba · 10/02/2023 10:26

It does keep me warm. However I get annoyed at how massive it is. It's sometimes difficult to work with it on as sleeves are so huge. Also embarrassed answering the door in it! So I'm usually flinging it off to get the door 😂

mommatoone · 10/02/2023 10:26

Best purchase ever! I look like a complete tool in it, but i dont care - im warm🤣.

LadyPoison · 10/02/2023 10:30

Oodie seem to have real problems at the moment. I ordered mine in January and it has only just been despatched and that is only due to me complaining loudly and publicly.

Looking at Trustpilot I am far from the only one.
