Obviously money. It's so sad seeing them suffer. We did it for Ukraine. Why can't we help Turkey/Syria? A lot of people around me don't really care and it's heartbreaking.

Yes

trampoline123 · 08/02/2023 20:02

I did today - we are skint but I couldn't not donate 💔

Thatsnotmybee · 08/02/2023 20:04

Yes. I donated to Oxfam the day after it happened. Not a lot but I couldn't give nothing! It's heartbreaking.

Roseshavethorns · 08/02/2023 20:06

DEC have an appeal.

Rshard · 08/02/2023 20:07

Yes, my dd’s friend is half Turkish and very sadly has lost her uncle in the earthquake.

Whitney168 · 08/02/2023 20:07

Yes, and my company matches donations too, so I always wait for them to put that in place before I donate to disasters of this ilk

slowquickstep · 08/02/2023 20:08

Yes, i have. It is so awful what has happened.

underneaththeash · 08/02/2023 20:09

And us - through action aid.

amillionrosepetals · 08/02/2023 20:27

Yes. I donated to a small local Islamic charity that were featured on the local news.

Timide · 08/02/2023 20:31

Yes. This is heartbreaking

ThreeLocusts · 08/02/2023 20:40

Yes, gave to Doctors without Borders. I live in an area with many people from the affected region, I think I'll ask at the Turkish supermarket or the community centre to find out if there is a more local charity.

It's been cold here, but not as cold as there, and I've found it uncomfortable enough - the thought of all these people without shelter in that weather is horrible.

JamToasties · 08/02/2023 20:43

Devastating is an understatement, I saw one man who lost twelve members of his family and then another lady died giving birth in the rubble but the baby survived. You can’t not get teary eyed, it’s so heartbreaking

Littleoakhorn · 08/02/2023 20:46

Yes, I donated. A colleague has lost several family members and it’s just heartbreaking. The people of that region have suffered so much already.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/02/2023 20:50

Yes, I have donated to the Red Cross and my DS is going to donate his birthday money this weekend.

catlovingdoctor · 08/02/2023 20:51

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/02/2023 20:50

Yes, I have donated to the Red Cross and my DS is going to donate his birthday money this weekend.

That is wondetful of him, he sounds very kind and selfless.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/02/2023 20:54

Well, he needs a bit more convincing but he will do it 😬 I can’t stop thinking about some of the stories I’ve read this week 😢

edwinbear · 08/02/2023 20:54

I will be on Friday. DC’s school are having an ad hoc, last minute, dress down day to raise funds. I’ll be donating more than the usual £1, I’m sure I won’t be the only one. I hope they raise a decent amount.

Greenshake · 08/02/2023 20:56

Yes, if people are able to they absolutely should.

faffadoodledo · 08/02/2023 20:56

Yes to three organisations who are on the ground - MSF, DEC and White Helmets. The latter have been doing brilliant work since the start of the conflict in Syria and blimmin deserve it earthquake or no earthquake.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 08/02/2023 21:00

Yes to DEC. Seeing all the images on tv and hearing the stories is absolutely heartbreaking.

Mombie · 08/02/2023 21:02

Yes, we have. It truly is heartbreaking and my older DC wanted to help. We have a large Turkish community where we live and they are organising a collection of things like nappies, baby milk, sanitary products and clothing to be sent over, so we are contributing to this.

notprincehamlet · 08/02/2023 21:02

Yes

Longlivethebling · 08/02/2023 21:05

Yes, to the white helmets.

MissyB1 · 08/02/2023 21:07

Yes to Red Cross, there was an advert on TV.
