When was the last time you properly belly laughed?

I genuinely can't remember the last time I laughed so hard until I couldn't breathe. Life has become so dull and serious 😞

Yesterday with my 17 watching a comedy shop. It was properly funny (Atlanta) and had a skit in which a teenage African American was identifying as a white 35 year man who spent his weekend at the farmers market trying types of IPA. 🤣

Last week at a thread on here where someone thought that Barry was a short version of Barold.

I have no idea why I found this so funny, but it made me weep (yes, really)

Helpmesortit · 08/02/2023 19:27

Everyday at work, my colleagues and I have the best fun and the best sense of humour. We belly laugh daily!!

MrsJBaptiste · 08/02/2023 19:31

My 16 year old got his foot stuck in his sheet/duvet the other day. The more he tried to get out, the more he fell over and dragged the bedding with him. God, we laughed and he DOES NOT laugh at himself 🤣

Aw that’s a bummer OP! For me, couple of days ago with DH. It’s always with DH tbh. Not for the past couple of days as we’ve all been blue! But hopefully again tonight. We call it ‘riffing’ and we just end up joking around and being generally hilarious.

I only just discovered the scrolling videos on Instagram at the weekend...my teenagers had to come upstairs and find out why I was laughing so hard....they said they'd seen all the videos aaagggeeess ago (I also just worked out how to 'send' the videos to them all!

Lots of hilarious IMHO videos of cats, dogs and people falling over skiing

I made myself laugh hysterically at one of my own jokes yesterday but now I’ve actually just cracked up at Barold - thanks for sharing!

Probably a couple of weeks ago at bookclub. There's nothing better to lift your spirits than an evening with clever, funny women.

Demonto · 08/02/2023 19:46

I laughed at Barold, too Grin
My youngest made several people belly laugh the other day when we were out for dinner. I said I loved going out with my girls and she said "and daddy is out with the boys", I corrected her that he was out with a girl friend (woman would have been more accurate!) and she shouted loudly for the whole restaurant, incredulously "daddy has a GIRLFRIEND?!" Blush

This is my work place most days, the reason I’m still there.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 08/02/2023 19:52

Last week in Tesco with my DSS aged 10. He proper made me laugh and the more I laughed the more he did and I couldn't stop myself 😂

CycleshoeLOL · 08/02/2023 19:58

Name changed as this is outing. Last time I really laughed was when my DH got his cycle shoe stuck on the pedal of his road bike. He had to come into the house with one shoe on.

As he was telling me (in a serious tone), I could not keep it together thinking of the shoe hanging off his bike in the garage. I laughed for ages. I'd just about recovered and went into kitchen and saw a lone shoe tucked under the breakfast bar and it set me off again.

No one else in the family can understand why I found it so funny. Even now if I start to explain it, I just start laughing.

New Year’s Eve.

I had been depressed and struggling for quite some time. Me and my DH decided not get away last minute and found a country pub in Yorkshire which had a room free. When we got there we were greeted by quite a peculiar short man with a very high pitched voice who couldn’t open the room. He clearly had the wrong key, but persisted for about 40 minutes trying to open the door with this key and had what I can only describe as a tantrum over it like something from a prank show. Then once that drama was over we managed to get a last minute table at a Thai restaurant which seemed like it was just upstairs in someone’s flat. It was bring your own drinks (no questions asked we we’re so hungry!) and walked in with a 2L bottle of Pepsi and two beers we had bought from the petrol station. We got served in foil trays. The whole thing was bizarre.

We then went back to the pub where they had a 5 course meal at 80£ per head and live music (some county dude playing the harmonica), so we asked as guests if we could join in and have a drink whilst everyone dined. Me and my DP are in our early 30’s and the majority of the party was 50s, 60s onwards. Most of them were drunk. We joined in with a drunken country version of auld Lang syne dancing and holding hands with them and I just looked around me and realised I was so out of place but it was the first time of experienced any form of joy in 6 months. I just burst out laughing and couldn’t stop I was doubled over with tears streaming I was laughing that hard, which set my DP off too and it was glorious! It had hit me at how the previous day and for months before that I had been on the couch in pit of anxiety and depression, not eating or wanting to see anyone and it was such a contrast in the moment. Best new year ever!

Igotthegoose · 08/02/2023 20:02

@CycleshoeLOL thats hilarious I laughed out loud myself then imagining that lone shoe 🤣

OrangeToothbrush · 08/02/2023 20:07

I was reading DS one of the How to Train Your Dragon books and there was a passage in there that just set me off and I laughed until I cried. It was just a silly fart joke. I don't know why it made me laugh so much.

YukoandHiro · 08/02/2023 20:09

When my 2 year said "Ho HO HOO!" out of nowhere at Xmas. But I think that's the first time in a year.

Oh I want to see this. I'm laughing just at the idea of it!

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 08/02/2023 20:11

Every day at work, multiple times. But it doesn’t take much for me to be in hysterics. I hope you find some joy soon, OP 🥹

justadress · 08/02/2023 20:12

Today at work. I work in a nursery and we laugh a lot.

ironhelp · 08/02/2023 20:12

Watching you people on Netflix and the dad was singing John legend to the girl

bloodywhitecat · 08/02/2023 20:14

I can't remember sadly. I do laugh but I can't remember the last time I was truly happy or something made me really laugh.

Utterly priceless. I hope you're doing ok now.

Mummysgonetobed · 08/02/2023 20:16

Most days at work my boss & I belly laugh.

But more memorably with DP watching videos on TikTok of blindfold people avoiding swinging water bottles - they make me proper belly laugh.

EasilyDirected · 08/02/2023 20:17

Yesterday at work, someone said something with an unfortunate but very funny double entendre. We have a good laugh there most days, I love it and it's one of the reasons I don't have any desire to WFH.
