I’m really tired of that sex toy advert ^^^

I suffered sex abuse and I don’t like how it’s put up there for me to accidentally click on it when I look at the lists of posts. Please get rid of it. I don’t want sex invading my safe chat spaces especially where I am thinking about my parenting decisions. If I want sex toys, I will look for them.

Two things:

  1. Install adblocker (it's free)
  2. hide the sex topic

I know that Mumsnet is a broad church but the primary appeal surely is " by parents for parents" It has always been nice to chat to other mums but it seems to be rather a free for all these days. I suspect there are loads of threads started/continued by people you wouldn't let near a child. I would love a female only site with no creepy posts and no sex toys, thanks! Maybe I'm just an old prude.

It appears as a post, not an ad, so ad blockers don’t address the issue.

I've added the Adguard extension and now no longer see the "Whisperer" posts in "Active". There are just blank lines there now.

I clicked on a thread about rimming by mistake last week: it seemed fairly evenly divided between posters saying mmm my lady loves it can't get enough of it can you describe what you'd like as a woman, and other posters saying, Not with my piles, thanks, mate.

Wasn't there a time when the Sex topic couldn't be listed in Active?

I agree. It feels a bit like sex is being shoved down our throats (no pun actually intended) everywhere you go these days, and I'm finding it all a bit desperate and attention seeking. Even sex toys are this mainstream thing now being advertised in front of my kids on the tv - I mean just what??? Then you come on MN and there's even more of it. I'm bored of seeing it. I'm bored of people who think sex is the only thing of relevance in life, it's all very superficial. Where is the elegance and dignity in anything anymore. Boundaries blurred, standards dropping - everything is trashy now. If you want to go off and have a wank then crack on, I don't need to see 20 adverts a day about it ffs. So grim.

Im on an iPad and don't ever see any ads. It's just topics and threads, that's it.

Is it on a phone you see the ads?

If it's a promoted thread, then the adblocker will get rid of them.

If it's a thread in the sex topic, hide the sex topic.

Otherwise, yes, I'm in total agreement that these threads are inappropriate on the rest of the boards @MNHQ.

I agree, I really hate seeing the ad and I think it's sneaky to make it look like a thread. For me they load out of synch with real threads so it's easy to click by accident. Ugh.

Well I have adblock and don't see the add. I'm not on the app though if that makes any difference.
