Don't know what to do about this poo

I came home from work (nhs) where I work 6 days a week due to staff shortages to find Bout 3 bucketloads of animal poo emptied outside my house.
I have no enemies and good relations with all my neighbours. My front garden is a bit of a mess because I have been working such long hours but I'd planned to sort it out next week when I'm on annual leave.
Surely no one would be petty enough to dump poo because my garden is untidy?
Iive in a sma culture de sac with neighbours who are my age or older. 60's.
I feel disgusted and threatened as I live on my own. I dont know if I should call the local police.

What sort of animal?

derelicte · 02/02/2023 07:04

If it's horse poo, could it be a misdelivery for someone who wanted manure for their garden?

Igmum · 02/02/2023 07:04

So sorry Sunrise. No suggestions but that's awful. Could it be a mistake? Has a neighbour ordered lion poo and they got the house number wrong?

whataboutsecondbreakfast · 02/02/2023 07:05

I would ring the police to report it and consider setting up a ring doorbell or similar to try and catch them in case they come back.

It could be teenage kids mucking about or an unpleasant adult with an attitude problem, but I'm with you - it would really freak me out!

juliettesmother · 02/02/2023 07:06

I would not call the police.

But is it horse manure?

derelicte · 02/02/2023 07:07

Or are you a dog owner who doesn't pick up dog poo? (I dream of exacting that sort of revenge on dog-poo-perpetrators).

ThisIsWednesday · 02/02/2023 07:09

My first thought is do you own a dog?

ThisIsWednesday · 02/02/2023 07:09

And second thought is you need to call the police. It's a crime.

ladydimitrescu · 02/02/2023 07:12

Absolutely report to the police. Take photos, and I would install a ring doorbell for your peace of mind.

Timeforachangeisitnot · 02/02/2023 07:26

Like pp have said, if it’s horse manure, it’s a mistake, but if it’s anything else it’s a crime. Report and take pictures.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 02/02/2023 07:39

I'd report it.

Hellocatshome · 02/02/2023 07:41

I bet its horse poo in which case it is a mis delivery.

tulips27 · 02/02/2023 07:42

Oh God, how awful and upsetting for you! 😦 I agree that you should contact the police, if only to have a record. Also I'd avoid showing emotion in front of the house because if it's one of the neighbours, they're obviously not sound mentally and might be looking for/enjoy seeing a reaction.

Sunriseinwonderland · 02/02/2023 07:48

Its dog poo, I don't have a dog. I have two cats I have kept indoors all winter with litter trays as I'm waiting for cat proof fencing to be put up as there is a busy road nearby so I know they aren't pooing in anyones garden.
There was an incident a few weeks ago which I just assumed was the wind - my recycling was emptied all over the road and it took ages to run around picking it all up. I'm beginning to think it wasn't the wind and someone did it.
I haven't heard of a ring doorbell, thanks I'll get that sorted.

derelicte · 02/02/2023 07:49

That's really upsetting! Hopefully the ring doorbell will help you get it sorted.

Catnary · 02/02/2023 07:54

is it on your path or doorstep?

How disgusting. But I’m struggling to imagine how so someone amasses “three bucketloads” of dog faeces. That is going to take a long time. What size of bucket?

MrsAmaretto · 02/02/2023 07:55

Contact the police and get a ring doorbell.

Shitfather · 02/02/2023 07:55

vile and worrying. I agree you need to get cameras installed ASAP. Do you have an angry ex?

Suzi888 · 02/02/2023 07:56

Report it to the police and let them go and ask neighbours.

That’s disgusting.

Triflenot · 02/02/2023 07:57

That’s terrible OP. Absolutely report to police.

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 02/02/2023 07:58

Definitely needs reported OP call 101 police non emergency (asked a Cop and they agreed)

Dymaxion · 02/02/2023 08:04

When you say outside your house do you mean on your doorstep or on the footpath ? Wonder if someone has dumped it in the wrong place ? Still revolting !
If it's on the footpath I would be sorely tempted to leave it exactly where it is, once you have photographed it, bound to be a bit of a talking point with the other neighbours, be interesting to see what people say, someone must have noticed a person dumping that quantity in one go ?

chocolateorangeinhaler · 02/02/2023 08:11

Who has dogs round you ? Might be some petty neighbor that doesn't like the fact that your cat poo's in their garden so is 'teaching you a lesson' by leaving poo in your garden to see how you like it.
Some people are weird, I've had cats and had complaints about them going in other peoples garden. Nothing you can do about it, I've also had neighbors cats poo in my garden. I just clear it up because I'm sane and know that's what cats do.
But some folks do get awfully angry over what they can't control. As PPhave said get a camera, cheap one looking out of an upstairs window should cover the front of your garden. Good luck.

KangarooKenny · 02/02/2023 08:15

If the neighbours know you have cats, and they find cat poo in their garden, they might assume it’s your cats.
Do you park on the road, perhaps in front of someone’s house where they might take offence, or on your drive ?
Im trying to think of the petty things neighbours fall out about.

KangarooKenny · 02/02/2023 08:16

We bought a cheap camera off Amazon and I can see the picture when I’m out and about, and rewind it. Worth having.
