Don't know what to do about this poo

Sunriseinwonderland · 02/02/2023 06:58

I came home from work (nhs) where I work 6 days a week due to staff shortages to find Bout 3 bucketloads of animal poo emptied outside my house.
I have no enemies and good relations with all my neighbours. My front garden is a bit of a mess because I have been working such long hours but I'd planned to sort it out next week when I'm on annual leave.
Surely no one would be petty enough to dump poo because my garden is untidy?
Iive in a sma culture de sac with neighbours who are my age or older. 60's.
I feel disgusted and threatened as I live on my own. I dont know if I should call the local police.

I’d still ring the police without video evidence.

sevenbyseven · 02/02/2023 09:33

Do report it to the police now. What a horrible thing to do.

Laiste · 02/02/2023 09:34

Which video camera have you ordered OP?

Laiste · 02/02/2023 09:35

And yes, i'd inform the police.
Take some pics of it as it was found.

Carouselfish · 02/02/2023 09:41

This is very unhinged behaviour OP, as someone said, it will have taken a long time to get that much dog poop together.
Think back to a few months ago, is there anyone, no matter how minor, who you've interacted with, who knows where you live, who has a dog, who you've maybe felt was a bit off?

WeAreTheHeroes · 02/02/2023 08:47

There is no excuse for this kind of behaviour. It's bullying and intimidation. The OP is wondering what it's about which suggests that whoever has done it doesn't have the balls to speak with her about whatever their issue is. What a cowardly act.

This doesn't read to me like @KangarooKenny is excusing the behaviour at all - just thinking through possible motives.

I more intrigued that you haven't heard of a ring doorbell! That's like not hearing of an iphone! Unless maybe you live somewhere other than the UK where they're not common?

🙄

Flymetothetoon · 02/02/2023 09:51

You've done well to organise an electrician to come out to you in such a short space of time - getting the attention of any tradesmen around my way is a right PITA.

Crumpetdisappointment · 02/02/2023 09:51

this is the kind of thing for your local facebook community page

BMW6 · 02/02/2023 10:14

I'd report to police now - a neighbour may have a video of the person who left it on their ring doorbell.

I'd chat to your neighbours, ask if they've seen anything, and make sure you mention that your cats are not allowed out at present in the conversations.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/02/2023 10:50

Report to 101.

Drop identical notes into all cul-de-sac
homes saying you suspect targeted but want to know if they've had similar issues. Say in the letter that you have indoor cats and hope no one is suspecting any local cats soiling in their garden of being yours.

Avidly watch ring doorbell activity.

Update us.

ladymacbeth · 02/02/2023 11:24

What was the face for @MissMaple82 ?!?

Exactly.

ItsNotReallyChaos · 02/02/2023 11:50

This is horrible. I really feel for you OP.

You shouldn't have to do this but I would chat with your neighbours about what has happened and I would say that you're trying to work out what you've done to deserve it and mention that your cats are indoors only.

Regarding your messy front garden, my NDN is infuriated with me that my front garden isn't prim and properly kept like his, so I know from experience that people do get very pissed off about this, especially if you have weeds encroaching onto anyone else's property. My NDN takes out his frustration by slagging me off to my face and to my visitors. Our other neighbours look out for me over it as they can see he's unduly nasty about it (mine isn't THAT bad, I just don't get around to weeding quite often enough).

Circumferences · 02/02/2023 11:56

How bad is your garden exactly?

If it's overgrown with ivy, Japanese knotweed and rats living in it etc that's one thing but having a bit of a long lawn is no one else's business.

I haven't stated anywhere that she is excusing it. The point is that nothing excuses this kind of behaviour. The person who does this kind of thing because of some "motive" is a cowardly bully. No rational, sensible human being would act in such a way. It's revolting.

So dumping a load of shit outside the OP's house would be appropriate/proportional? If there's an issue or perceived issue communication is the key.

Oh no nothing like that, it's a bit weedy, not encroaching on anyone elses garden, I just haven't been able to do it recently because I had a stroke last year and not quite back to full strength, all my neighbours know this. And then the 6 hour days.
I just need to pull a few weeds up and trim a couple of bushes back. It hasn't got tyres or old prams in it or anything. Its usually immaculate.

I'm getting this one and having it hardwired into the electric system.

Luckily the electricians are not too busy here in my sleepy part of Somerset.

This is so odd. I almost wonder if you can order a bucket of crap to be delivered to someone as revenge and they got the wrong address!

It's such a premeditated thing to do that I'd really have thought you'd know you'd pissed someone off for them to go to these lengths.

ItsNotReallyChaos · 02/02/2023 13:01

Actually there's a bloke on our street who I can imagine doing something like this. He gets incandescent with rage if someone else parks on the road outside his house.

That's the one I've got OP, I've found it to be really good.

Catnary · 02/02/2023 15:04

What are you doing about the police and/or cleaning it up OP? You need to take lots of photos, disgusting though that sounds. Cleaning it up really isn't a job you should be doing yourself, though, and you will need full protective gear. Not sure what option you have though.
