DD4 burps and farts smell like egg

Dd4 has been burping and farting like a trooper this evening and then started complaining of a tummy ache. Any ideas what this could be? She had diarrhoea on sunday but didn't mention anything mon or tues. She said today her poos were hard, one big one small. Obviously will get a gp appointment tomorrow if still a problem.

i had burps like that turned out to be an ulcer
if they are sick and it looks like coffee grounds that is dry blood from the ulcer

You’re getting a GP appointment because your child’s farts smell?! No wonder I can’t get an appointment…She had diarrhoea. Most likely she had some sort of stomach bug (hence also the farts etc) from which she is now recovering. Unless she is getting much worse with pains and unusual stools I would sit this one out. Not pleasant but not worth a GP appointment (at the moment), I would think.

Yeah I agree with @DivorceConfusion here. Majorly jumping the gun to see the GP for smelly farts. Even burps are smelly in the norm.

I don't think stinky gas is at all alarming after a tummy bug. It's definitely not worth seeing a doctor for. Stick to plain foods and plenty of water for a bit, things will settle down.

Should have said I think it's giardiasis which would need a prescription.

Worth a test for giardiasis and H Pylori, both quite common. They just send off a stool sample, no drama.

It's not just smelly farts. They specifically smell of egg, burps too. Very strongly like an egg sandwich. The doc appointment is obviously not for smelly farts. It's the combination of eggy smelling burps and farts along with tummy cramps.

Rotten egg burps mean that her intestinal bacteria are producing hydrogen sulphide. Her micro biome is out of whack, probably from the tummy bug. Get her to eat probiotics, like plain yoghurt, but it should settle by itself.

Well a quick Google is why I think it's giardiasis, man. And Google also said it would need a prescription.

I don't take my children to the gp for any old thing. I was curious if anyone had any idea why they smelt of egg so strongly.

This is why nobody can get doctors appointments!
Get her some probiotic yoghurt drinks and it will sort itself out .

Only if it doesn't resolve on its own, which it likely would given more time. I'd probably only see the GP if her symptoms are severe or if it goes on for a couple of weeks and is a problem.

It's part of her tummy bug and will clear. Nothing to worry about unless it goes on for over a week

The DC only had diarrhoea the one day! Giardia would persist much longer and only require treatment if you have diarrhoea for more than a week.

Sulphur burps are part and parcel of tummy bugs. Often the first warning signs one is on its way. It takes kids a little longer to fully clear a bug. I wouldn’t be going to the GP at this stage.

If it is giardiasis then she needs a prescription. It's the worse stomach upset I've ever had.

No food, just water in the meantime.

I totally agree @AnOldCynic, but one bout of the shits does not equal giardiasis. I had it years ago and was shitting through the eye of a needle for about 10 weeks before it was finally diagnosed.
