Starbucks for drinks. Only go to Costa for food sometimes.

Sprig1 · 28/01/2023 17:55

These days neither, they are always dirty, disappointing and over priced. If pushed then Starbucks.

dudsville · 28/01/2023 17:57

Starbucks is my favourite chain coffee. I try to avoid food from any of them though.

Ohh yes, Nero is better all round. Betwixt the others I’d say Starbucks as Costa can be hit and miss. Neither Starbucks or Costa can make a decent macchiato: they taste just like lattes!

iCouldSleepForAYear · 28/01/2023 18:00

Starbucks. When I go to a Costa or a Starbucks, I'm usually treating myself to a flavoured coffee. As long as I give Pumpkin Spice a swerve, Starbucks has more interesting drinks.

When I want an Americano or a flat white, my local indie cafe is the best. They work with a really good local coffee roaster.

MaverickGooseGoose · 28/01/2023 18:15

If I had to, Costa, but Black Sheep is my fav I think they are still just in London though.

McDonald's coffee is surprisingly good.

GlamGiraffe · 28/01/2023 18:23

Caffè Nero if you actually like coffee.
Starbucks is brown water which only sells because of gallons of flavours sugary syrups and cream added to it. I haven't been to a single one that can make a decent coffee.
Costa is slightly better out of the two.

heidihigh · 28/01/2023 18:25

Ooh. Costa for hot drinks, Starbucks for cold. (Except iced lattes as Costa do the best one!)

ivykaty44 · 28/01/2023 18:29

I don't like costa coffee, so choose Starbucks. TBH the staff in my local our very lovely, always greet me by name and are very cheerful.

I do try and use some independent coffee shops but so many the cups size is so small 2 sips and the coffee is gone, when you pay £3+ for a coffee I feel a bit robbed so end up using Starbucks where a coffee for £3+ lasts me much more than 2/3 sips

LavenderHillMob · 28/01/2023 18:37

Cafe Nero or BP wild bean - too many calories but live a cheese and bacon pastry.

FizzyStream · 28/01/2023 18:49

Starbucks. We've got a great drive through that's very temptingly on my way to work after dropping the kids off at school. Really like their honey hazelnut oat lattes at the moment. Need to try and replicate them at home as it costs a fortune on a regular basis Blush

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/01/2023 18:50

Starbucks coffee
Costa cakes

ChicagoBears · 28/01/2023 18:50

Not a lover of either really but at a push Starbucks.

bellinisurge · 28/01/2023 18:51

Costa is minging all around. Starbucks is alright

Lucimaya · 28/01/2023 18:52

Starbucks. Costa don't accept a Blue light card!!!!

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 28/01/2023 18:53

Neither. I go to independent coffee shops who pay their taxes!

Lovemusic33 · 28/01/2023 18:54

Neither 😬, I would prefer to go to a local privately owned coffee shop, farm shop or garden centre. Sadly Costa have taken over a local garden centre. Starbucks makes me feel I’ll and the cakes in Costa or awful and over priced.

DomesticShortHair · 28/01/2023 18:54

Costa over Starbucks, but I prefer old Costa before they sold out to Coca-Cola, over new Costa.

Cornelious2011 · 28/01/2023 18:54

Costa because I hate the tea in Starbucks- tastes like dishwater.

TeddyTed · 28/01/2023 18:58

toastofthetown · 28/01/2023 14:37

I prefer Starbucks as I like their flavoured coffees more. I'm not a huge fan of either for black coffee. And I haven't forgiven Costa for removing their Emmental and mushroom toastie which was by far the best lunchtime offering of any of the high street coffee chains.

Totally agree with this, I loved the mushroom and emmental toastie too. I still generally prefer Costa though, I don’t like giving my name at Starbucks so I’ve had to invent a “Starbucks name”.

GeordieRacer · 28/01/2023 19:07

Costa. Stopped going to Starbucks when they didn't pay their taxes

BevMarsh · 28/01/2023 19:08

Live near both.
Costa has a better atmosphere, is welcoming and clean whilst Starbucks is full of dirty tables and staff are unfriendly. It is also freezing cold in Starbucks.
Prefer Costa drinks and cakes. Never tried anything savoury from either.

NewNovember · 28/01/2023 19:11

Neither, Nero followed by maccies.

LibbyL92 · 28/01/2023 19:13

I’m heading to a Starbucks tomorrow, meeting a friend I’ve not seen for 3 years.

I always go for iced coffee (vanilla)

can someone recommend something different? Sweet, hot or cold. :)

I don’t really know my coffees ect but I’d like to try something different!

(sorry for jumping on)

I am costa however that is because the nearest stautbucks to me is an hours drive. however I haven't forgiven them for changing their marshmallows for their hot chocolate to vegan ones. they are rank. they don't melt in the hot chocolate and have a cheap bubble gum taste of them. why why why did you do it ?

Thank you! I searched on Google what the hell has happened to Costa marshmallows! What the hell are they? And why can't they keep the black forest hot chocolate all year round?
I prefer costa (marshmallows aside) because their hot chocolates are much nicer, they do a lovely lemon muffin and I can't forgive Starbucks for their tax evasion tactics. Also, costa are everywhere by me.
I do go to an independent coffee shop each day for my lunch though. They do lovely coffee but awful hot chocolate.
