I have a favourite coat hanger..

I realised as I was putting the clothes up to dry I have a favourite coat hanger. I have had it since I lived at home, and used to play with it as I could hold the metal hook and spin the brown plastic body at a perfect speed so it kept going and going. I remember specifically keeping that hanger just so I could play with it.

Years on, I brought it with me as an adult and, at 36, realise how absolutely bizarre it is that I like that coat hanger so much 😂😂

does anyone else favour or enjoy a particularly odd thing or household item? Please say I am
not the only crazy one…!

I really enjoy a particular pillowcase. Got a set cheap at tk max and find it diificult to sleep with any other!

Xrays · 26/01/2023 19:57

Oh I have loads of things like this 😆

I love my metal hangers from b and m - I use them to hang towels up in doorways.

I really like a particular spoon we have to eat my porridge with. It’s just the right shape and weight.

I have a special coffee mug I just use for my mid morning coffee.

I have a favourite wooden spoon, it's perfect in every way. I've had it for so long that it's worn down on one side.
I'll be heartbroken if anything happens to it. I know that is a bit melodramatic but it's an amazing spoon.

I’m part of the favourite spoon gang too although mine is a metal one…. I feel sad just writing that

My vintage Royal Dalton bone china dinner service. I use it every day. I treat it with utmost care because if I need more, I have run the gauntlet of EBay.
Brings me pleasure every day. Just love it.

Me too.

When Mam wants to discuss who gets what, that is my thing. One wee wooden spoon in particular but I’d have all of them.

I understand completely.

When I close one of my kitchen drawers sounds like Jimmy Carr laughing.

I have a favourite cereal spoon, as does dh. I have certain mugs for my bedtime drink, rated as first, second and third favourite and I get unreasonably cross if dh uses them. To be fair he isn't aware of their importance so when I empty the dishwasher I hide them at the back of the cupboard.

whomoon · 26/01/2023 21:07

Favourite mugs and spoons seem like a popular choice! Love it!

I have a 'big spoon' (can't remember it's actual name 🤣) that I don't mind using over and over again and putting in the dishwasher over again it's like my favourite spoon I used to have a different one too it's nothing at all special but I like it.

LaFemmeDamnee · 26/01/2023 21:35

At work I have a favourite mug for tea and also a favourite cup for my one coffee a day, and if someone on my team offers me a drink they know by which receptacle I pass them what I would like to drink.

I had a favourite bowl for years. The perfect size and shape, yellow with tactile raised navy dots all over the outside. I always favoured that bowl over the others, and would have my morning cereal in it while sitting on my little roof terrace, looking at my pot plants and watching the birds down in the neighbouring gardens.

When I bought a house with Dh, I sold my little flat to DDad, and left behind my kitchen things for him to use. Fifteen years later, DDad sold the flat, and I helped empty it. I was reunited with my old yellow spotty bowl - simple pleasures! It has a new life as a snack bowl now, and reminds me of happy times as a young single girl, sitting up on my roof terrace in the morning sun.

Pearlsister · 26/01/2023 22:03

I have "appropriate " and "inappropriate " spoons. Inappropriate spoons are relegated to making tea and coffee. Appropriate spoons can be used for eating. I get unreasonably cross if they get mixed up.

seventynine · 26/01/2023 22:09

Aw I love these! I am usually quite ruthless with getting rid of stuff but there are certain things I would be very sad to lose. A certain serving spoon, it's just the right size for dishing up, not too big or small. My wooden clothes pegs, they're so soft from years of use! My cornishware cereal bowls, I only have 3 left now, they're a perfect size, can't get hold of them any more sadly.

My favourite duvet cover / pillowcases is an old fashioned brushed cotton one out of Asda ! It was under £ 20 for the set and is so warm and cosy compared to normal cotton ones.

It washes up lovely too

I have a favourite knife, it's a proper little good butter spreader.
