I have a favourite coat hanger..

I realised as I was putting the clothes up to dry I have a favourite coat hanger. I have had it since I lived at home, and used to play with it as I could hold the metal hook and spin the brown plastic body at a perfect speed so it kept going and going. I remember specifically keeping that hanger just so I could play with it.

Years on, I brought it with me as an adult and, at 36, realise how absolutely bizarre it is that I like that coat hanger so much 😂😂

does anyone else favour or enjoy a particularly odd thing or household item? Please say I am
not the only crazy one…!

Also favourite wooden spoon here, favourite by a country mile! 😂 All the others are too big and rough.

Favourite mug too, tea tastes much better from it.

I have a favourite spoon that doesn't match the other cutlery, think it came home from work in my lunchbox sometime.

My husband brought home a random fork this way. I despise this fork, I really can't explain why but I hate it. Youngest DD and DH will not hear of it being thrown out because they love it.

They fished it out the bin when they saw it. I should have buried the thing.

I love my garlic crusher. Got it abroad on my first holiday with DH. I feel all nostalgic whenever I use it and can't believe what a life we have built. (I am autistic and never thought anyone would love me when I was younger)

We have a random fork from a little chef and it’s my DD favourite but I despise it and would throw away but she would know 😂

Not a household item but I have a favourite tip. Depending on where else i’m going, I have choice of 4. They have a pecking order 😊

😂😂
I think this is perfectly normal!
I have a favourite hanger too... and a favourite mug, bowl, teaspoon, pair of boxers, baking tray etc etc!

Tilllly · 12/10/2023 12:31

Favourite mug definitely
And a favourite spatula

Motherofatruck · 15/10/2023 08:38

I have a favourite knife. His name is Mack. He’s not too big, not too small and chops everything so perfectly 😀

MrsGrumpyKnickers · 15/10/2023 08:54

I had a favourite melamine spoon. It was part of a set of 3 - I have only 1 left now. My favourite of the 3 (which in turn were the favourites in my kitchen) had a large scoop with a short handle. I was upset for a whole evening when I dropped it on the floor and it broke in 2😭

Saisong · 15/10/2023 09:15

I do think it is perfectly normal to have a hierarchy of things, especially things like cups.

On the hob thing though, the one I use most is back left - back because it keeps it out of the way of little fingers (not that there are any left in the house), and it is the smaller of the back rings this fits the usual pans better.

I will however admit to the fact that I'm uncomfortable discussing our plans for a house move when we are actually in our current house - in case it gets jealous 😅

redtreesummer · 15/10/2023 09:20

I can relate to all these, next level is the guilt I feel to the unflavoured utensils, catching the eye of the other mug (the perfectly fine one that never leaves the cupboard) as I make my tea makes me feel really quite guilty

FrillyGoatFluff · 15/10/2023 09:30

I had a favourite mug (grey, with a white star, from the pound shop). I broke it and actually cried. It was perfect.

Started a new job and saw the exact mug in the cupboard... my heart skipped a beat! Then i saw it had a sticker on the side saying 'X's mug'.

When I was introduced to X, I actually said 'I'm really sorry, but I might have to use your mug every now and again if I have a bad day'. He was understandably quite confused and said I was welcome to it whenever I liked, and it had only been given to him as a joke 🤣

Looking back, I realise how mental this conversation must have been to poor X!

Particular spoon for coffee- brought it from UK to Australia when I moved, along with a particular coffee cup that also made the move over.

I have a favorite cereal bowl it holds just the right amount it has come with me from my parents house on honeymoon and every holiday (it’s a hard plastic ) always in my carry on … my family laugh at me but I don’t care it’s my bowl and I love it they are just jealous 😂….ps it’s called Marcia because it’s perfect ..all other bowls are Jans 😂😂😂

Annemaria · 15/10/2023 11:20

I too have a favourite wooden spoon I bought on my honeymoon in Tarragona in 1964. It has an unusual pointed bowl and handle. I discovered on the day I bought it that my new husband was a Scrooge. I had no money at all & wanted to buy a nice souvenir. He said, “I’m not giving you money to fritter away.” The spoon was all I could afford. I shan’t whine about the way I had to burst into tears to get him to buy school shoes for the children…

Purplecatshopaholic · 15/10/2023 11:43

Front left hob is my favourite - I’m left handed. I have a favourite lamp - I am ridiculously attached to it! (Cut glass shade with a dragon fly on it - they symbolise transformation and I got it during my divorce).

SallyWD · 15/10/2023 11:45

I had the perfect knife. Very long and thing with a serated edge. Absolutely brilliant and chopping veg etc. Now it's broken and I can't fine anything like it!

Northbright · 15/10/2023 17:51

My son has a favourite lampshade. It's mine and was my parents' and is very boring cream with a fringe. He loves it and has asked to inherit it when I've died.

frenchfries111 · 15/10/2023 18:05

Not in the house obviously but I have a favourite petrol pump!
