HELP. I'm 31 years old, what trainers should I be wearing?

CharChar91 · 25/01/2023 10:25

Just this really. I want some new trainers for the school run etc and I'm suddenly feeling quite old. I'm drawn to the more fashionable ones but I don't really dress to suit them. If I was 10 years younger than maybe, but I don't want to drop £120 on a pair I like but look like I'm trying too hard to cling on to my youth 😅
Am I overthinking this?
What age appropriate trainers/brands should I be looking for that are a happy medium between young and carefree and boomer??

Wear whatever you like, as long as you can afford them

This.

I'm 33. Asked my trendy 28 year old sister what she'd recommend and whether Veja were still in fashion. She said Gola. So bought some Gola Grandslam Tridents. Lots of colours are half price atm.

Me and my friends find 30s dressing a nightmare. Doesn't seem to any good shops anymore unless you want to spend a bomb.

Wear the ones you like best? I am nearly 50 and wear whatever I want

I'm 34 and wear vans and converse. Where what ever you want, who cares what others think.

rebecca100 · 25/01/2023 12:56

35 and live in Nike airforce 1's, vans and adidas ozweegos, I love all of them and don't care if I'm too old 🤣🤣

I cannot believe anyone thinks like this
Who on earth do you think gives a st what trainers you wear

lemons44 · 25/01/2023 13:01

Another vote for converse 😊

I would be wearing Pokémon trainers or something bright, but as they don't make them in my size, I have really boring mens trainers.

Converse did a Pokémon range for adults.
there’s loads of adult themed ones like that.

Here's a tip @18e6281o62: stop worrying about how old you are and just buy/wear what you like and can afford

I didn't mean we find it difficult to know what we should wear. We find it difficult to find clothes we want to wear as was clear from my last sentence. Doesn't seem to be much in between our student staples of New Look, Primark and the expensive likes of Boden, COS, etc.

BIWI · 25/01/2023 13:53

Why keep mentioning your and your friends' ages then?

megletthesecond · 25/01/2023 13:57

I'm 48 and always wear Nike Internationalists. I can get a sprint on when I'm late in them. I've been meaning to get some hi-tops for winter too.

Oh god PLEASE don’t feel old at 31. Wait another 40 years and even then don’t bother. I know I’ve gone off the point but I mean it kindly and not as a criticism.

🤣

Brilliant advice!

TeachesOfPeaches · 25/01/2023 14:03

Heelys?

I saw someone wearing those before and i thought they were a joke
Gross and grotesquely expensive too

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/01/2023 15:40

I wear Adidas Superstars and love them
I'm 58
Wear whatever you like

PictureConsequences · 25/01/2023 19:32

They are horrors aren't they stopbeeping?!

SchoolQuestionnaire · 25/01/2023 19:58

I like Air Force 1’s as well as loads of varieties of Russell and Bromley flatforms that I can also get away with for work.

Of course you are, it's a ridiculous question. Wear what you like and is comfortable.

I used to wear Converse all the time. Now I wear Converse-a-likes from Deichmann for about a fifth of the price. I have no idea if at 43 this would he considered out of my age range because anyone who thinks age has a bearing on what trainers to wear is a fool

Carlycat · 25/01/2023 23:18

Where what you want. I'm pretty sure no one actually gives a fuck 🙄

I'm 31 and wear fitflop trainers in black and white.

MyCreation · 25/01/2023 23:34

I’m 62 and I wear what feels most comfortable for my arthritic ankles. I have some Reebok classic white ones and Saucony mesh black ones (which I tend to wear if I have a lot of walking ). I used to worry about the whole ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ thing when I was younger but thankfully that ridiculous limiting nonsense seems to be waning and it’s ok to wear whatever you feel good and feel comfortable in.
