I just had it for the 4th time too. And vaccinated! I think some people are just more susceptible!
this time has been the worst
😫

Smartiepants79 · 19/01/2023 22:04

Is he very Ill?
I wouldn’t know if it was covid or not I don’t think unless it was particularly bad.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 19/01/2023 22:07

My friend has also tested positive today for the 4th time! Vaxxed.

watchfulwishes · 19/01/2023 22:08

We can expect it 2, 3 or even 4 times a year now

watchfulwishes · 19/01/2023 22:09

Hope he gets well soon btw

Ihatethenewlook · 19/01/2023 22:09

How many times has he been vaxxed 😬

Hbh17 · 19/01/2023 22:13

How do you know? Surely nobody is still testing? Just treat it like a cold, and carry on as normal - it's really not a big deal.

pigsinoodies · 19/01/2023 22:17

I've not had COVID at all yet. I've not even had a cold or flu since I had a bad cough in December 2019.

I'm expecting to be killed off by a slight sniffle any day now.

I'm sent free test kits from the NHS for no sensible reason.

Leemoe · 19/01/2023 22:20

Oh no, has he had a booster recently?

I hope its mild and passes quickly.

mcterfald · 19/01/2023 22:21

He did an LFT because he's had the same constant hacking cough for over a week now, it's definitely more than a bit of a cold this time.

Very annoying. He's had all 3 jabs he was offered!

gogohmm · 19/01/2023 22:24

It's endemic, we can expect to catch it just like colds and flu. Because we now have partial immunity from vaccination and previous infection it isn't as serious as back in 2020. Life goes on - we don't test here

Big deal to us. It just killed DH's cousin.

Ove had it twice (and all my vaccinations) and there way no way I was carrying on as normal. 2 weeks of being more ill than I've ever felt with anything else, let alone a cold.

It's true I'm not testing generally, so I wouldn't know if I only had mild symptoms, but it's certainly not always the case that it's "just a cold".

paintitallover · 20/01/2023 07:45

Yes, "just a cold" is nonsense as far as I was concerned, and many people I knew who have had it.

It's just killed my dad , so pretty much a big deal for me

BooCrew · 20/01/2023 07:56

I've had it twice and neither was 'just a cold'. It's true some people have very mild symptoms, but it's also very common for people to have a fever, body aches, sore throat and hacking cough.

Whiskers4 · 20/01/2023 08:00

I for one had a bad time with covid, hence the reason I test, I want to try and prevent others feeling so bad. Also, we had our holiday totally messed up by it, couldn't even think about going, neither of us up to journey and wouldn't have been able to focus on driving.

Hope he feels better soon, OP.

AnuSTart · 20/01/2023 08:00

I truly wish these 'it's just a cold people' would F off!

For me, sure, I was asymptomatic but I don't go around telling people it's nothing when for sure people die. Flu kills also. The people who talk shit about Covid are also the people that say they've had flu when what it was was a common cold.

LlynTegid · 20/01/2023 08:31

Does his job mean he is in close contact with others?

Hope he is well soon. A reminder that it has not gone completely away.

ScreamALullabye · 20/01/2023 08:45

I also wish the "it's only a cold" people would piss off. I've had it for the second time and have never been so poorly in my life. And I work for the NHS, frontline with CEV patients. And yes, I know, they cannot make me test but I do it anyway as I would hate to think I had passed it on to those people who would probably be seriously ill or die.

I'm so sorry. It killed mine too. Hearing people minimise it makes it more painful Flowers

Um, plenty of people still test and for plenty of people it IS a big deal. But sure, if you're happy to be out there passing it on to the old and vulnerable you crack right on with your 'no big deal'.

I test with symptoms out of respect for those who are more vulnerable. I wouldn't mix with a bad cold or flu either to be fair.

OfcourseSpringRoll · 20/01/2023 09:52

My friend in her thirties died from covid in the first wave, it also took me months to fully recover. I was at that point mid fifties and am really quite fit for my age, I had that age 50 health MOT and did extremely well. It affected me really badly.
