Um, plenty of people still test and for plenty of people it IS a big deal. But sure, if you're happy to be out there passing it on to the old and vulnerable you crack right on with your 'no big deal'.

👏👏👏👏
Well said.

Not vaxed. Never had it. Go figure

It's more common than you think and researchers are already investigating.
Why some people don't catch CoVid

That you know of.
I would never have known I'd had it in 2020 if a routine blood test hadn't shown I had antibodies. Plenty of people will have had it but been completely asymptomatic. I've never had it again since 2020.
Or have I but just don't know?

Hbh17 · 19/01/2023 22:13

How do you know? Surely nobody is still testing? Just treat it like a cold, and carry on as normal - it's really not a big deal.

I work in a school I became so unwell yesterday I came home and tested and I have it.
My kidneys felt like they were ripping open, the shivers won't go away no matter what and yesterday I was dizzy, spaced out and loads of other things. I've had it before and thought that was bad but this has been something else bloody horrible. Dizziness and kidney pain fading away now

dingit · 20/01/2023 19:10

What utter bollocks. You had to show vaccine passports to enter venues/ go on holiday to show you were vaccinated against transmitting the virus.
Why do you think most countries have pulled all their covid rules? You can still get covid wherever and transmit it.

Piscesmumma1978 · 20/01/2023 19:18

I've still not had it. I'm dreading the day I get it.

It's strange how I've avoided it. It's been in the house twice.

Lcb123 · 20/01/2023 19:21

Sorry but it’s winter and illness is inevitable…

I was the same until last week. Lots of people I know who'd never had it before are being caught in this latest wave.

For me it was a very mild and shortlived cold, I wouldn't have even thought to test if I hadn't just been in a high risk setting.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 20/01/2023 19:35

DOESNT work in a school does he? I have had it 5 times and it is NOT just a cold. Had alll my jabs and the last 3 times only felt marginally better than the first 2 times when i wasn’t jabbed. Had to be off work all 5 times. My colleague has it currently and been in bed since last Saturday. And to the idiots telling people not to test, some of us who regularly have close contact with others, in my case my pupils and their parents, feel a moral obligation to take steps not to pass on illness to others

Iamsodonewith2020 · 20/01/2023 19:37

A potentially fatal illness i should add.

Report away! The facts speak for themselves!!!!!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 20/01/2023 20:49

Oh no poor him and poor you!

Iamsodonewith2020 · 20/01/2023 21:56

Seriously I worry about the children of such parents. Nothing at all wrong with looking after others. Not suggesting we shut down the country, just think of someone other than ourselves. OP I hope your husband is feeling better soon and you don’t catch it. Take care xx

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 20/01/2023 22:08

I have had 5 jabs and not had it. Husband has had it once and daughter twice and still not caught it. I do think some people are more susceptible to it maybe. I can't believe I have never caught it as husband shared a bed with me the time he was ill and daughter slobbered all over me wanting fuss.

GettingStuffed · 20/01/2023 22:33

I've had it three times, the last was in April, I've only just started getting my sense of smell back. Over Christmas I had the flu which ended up as a chest infection and I was far iller than I was with Covid

Thank you, thought I was the only one 🤭

GrapeHyacinth · 21/01/2023 00:42

It wasn't just a cold for me and I wouldn't have been selfish enough to carry on as normal spreading it around, knowing it kills some people

Because vaccines were effective against transmission. But many epidemiologists were warning that the virus was likely to evolve. They were called Covid doomers. We did have a chance in early 2021 to control the virus but most governments were too enthusiastic to get back to normal. And no I don’t think we needed to do more lockdowns then just vaccine plus policy.

Sunbird24 · 21/01/2023 01:21

I’ve just had it for the first time (unless I’ve previously had it with no symptoms). I’ve tested every time I’ve had symptoms which could be it, because my work want us to. This ‘flu’ was different from any other I’ve previously had as I did lose my sense of smell/taste, but I feel lucky it hasn’t been worse. I have lost 3kg and still have a cough, but I’ll be back in work as soon as I test negative again. Self-isolating until that happens.

Huge sympathies to those who’ve lost loved ones, it’s so cruel Flowers

Justsaynonow · 21/01/2023 03:44

For those who want to read a little more about Covid, this article Let Them Eat Plague is interesting. As one who does keep up with current scientific articles, its points are based on accepted, well designed studies. Especially important is the fact that poor public health messaging combined with social media spread misinformation has led to "misinformed “personal risk assessments” among the population". Long term systemic impacts, including immune disruption (which is why people are now getting sicker from other things, like Strep A) and increased personal risk with increased infections have been and still are being underplayed. Every person who gets infected is at risk, but also provides the opportunity for the virus to mutate yet again.

Some people don’t catch things.

I’m one of 4 siblings. I have 6 children.

I wasn’t vaccinated as a child (my siblings were as my parents drug addictions weren’t as bad).

Ive never had measles, mumps or Rubella. I’ve also never had chicken pox.

Doesn’t mean I’m a one person study proving the pointlessness of vaccinations…

It's a big deal when it kills people in your family, maybe be a bit more sensitive?

Piscesmumma1978 · 21/01/2023 07:56

@mcterfald Has it been different each time he had it? I wonder if it's like a cold now where you get it the same or if your do build up any immunity and it changes how it affects you.
