Help me find DP's lost wallet! Is it my fault?

DP's wallet has disappeared and I'm pretty sure I was the last one to see it. He never takes it out anywhere as tends to use apple pay on his phone for purchases unless he's sure he'll use cash.

I'm fairly certain I saw it yesterday morning as I needed cash to get my eyebrows threaded and didn't have enough. So I took a fiver and told him I was doing that (he was on the loo at the time if that's helpful!).

I thought I left it either on the shoe cupboard in the hallway or on the side in the kitchen. But it's nowhere to be seen! We went into town but he's adamant he didn't take it and didn't go anywhere after that.

I'm facing accusations of having thrown it away now. I'm suffering long term sleep deprivation from our toddler but I can't think I'd have thrown it in the bin! We've looked everywhere we can think of!

Toddler in the house?

Toy boxes, their bed, washing machine, random pocket....

Thank you. We've looked but will search all those places again! He's not known for moving things about yet as isn't long mobile plus I'm sure it was up high somewhere but it's a possibility.

In you handbag or coat, jeans or whatever you had on at the time?
Toddlers changing bag?

larchforest · 19/01/2023 14:27

Has he checked his pockets? He may have absentmindedly picked it up and stuffed it into a coat pocket.

Allschoolsareartschools · 19/01/2023 14:27

Worth checking the bin even if you don't think it's there as I bet you're doing loads of things at once & it's just so easily done.

ICanHideButICantRun · 19/01/2023 14:28

Did you perhaps think, "I'll take the wallet with me, in case the price has gone up"?

FanSpamTastic · 19/01/2023 14:29

When I was searching everywhere for my keys earlier ....... they were in my pocket! Just the opposite one from the one I checked like 20 times!!!

PurplePetalPip · 19/01/2023 14:30

Checked everything we were wearing and all bags (unless I've sent it off to DS's nursery today!). Checked the bin. Unfortunately the recycling went out today and has been taken so if it was in there it's lost forever!

My OH just found his hat after looking round the whole house for it, it was in the hood of his coat.

Where did you have your eyebrows threaded [no idea what that is but it sounds painful]

Sahara123 · 19/01/2023 14:31

My husband found my purse in the fridge once…..

Smartiepants79 · 19/01/2023 14:31

ALL pockets
Drawers.
car?
Try and retrace what you. It’s did yesterday to see if it triggers a memory.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/01/2023 14:33

Has it fallen into a shoe or boot?

Glitterandcard · 19/01/2023 14:33

Behind the shoe cupboard? In the shoe cupboard/a shoe?

What else is or has been on your kitchen side, anything it could have got mixed up in?

We've been checking the fridge, freezer, washing machine etc! No joy!

This is what I'm wondering. But I can't think where it could have ended up. I did get a new air fryer delivered yesterday so was unpacking that and testing it out but I've checked the packaging. Can't think of anything else.

The wallet? Mumsnet can be of bugger all help. You know that. So wasting time starting a thread for that issue

but I suspect the real reason you started the thread was about the accusations and unfair load on you and deprivation of sleep.

correct?

Username6194 · 19/01/2023 14:35

I would just stop worrying and looking for the rest of the day. Put it out your head. I often do this and it pops in my head where I last had something

Haha perhaps subconsciously.

I was hoping a psychic might pop up and be able to visualise it for me Wink

That's a good idea, I'm trying to do that (whilst WFH) but DP keeps popping up saying "Where do you think my wallet is?"!

Is it underneath something? Down the side of something? In the bathroom?

MolesOnPoles · 19/01/2023 14:39

Don’t just look in bags, empty everything out and turn them inside out. Really ready for stuff to get wedged in pockets/ corners / lining

Glitterandcard · 19/01/2023 14:39

Is your shoe cupboard near/next to your front door/letterbox? It’s not unheard of for easily accessible small items to get stolen…

Your DH says he didn’t take wallet to town - did he need to pay eg a window cleaner? Check a business card in it? then put it back down somewhere else?

Sleepinggreyhounds · 19/01/2023 14:40

Dressing gown pocket! Every time in our house!

zurala · 19/01/2023 14:42

Check the places you think it can't possibly be.

But also, sometimes in my house things genuinely do disappear, they just go poof and are gone when it's impossible for them to have gone. I've no idea how, I assume something supernatural even though I am not in any way woo normally.
