What has happened to Kit Kat’s???

Bought a packet of 2 finger Kit Kat’s this morning, 9 of them in the pack I think.

So firstly, the packaging has changed. No idea why because you can’t recycle the new packaging at home 🙄

But then I realise it’s because they are smaller… I don’t have an old one to check this but I’m sure of it!

And they taste different. Maybe the chocolate is thinner but the ratio seems wrong and there wasn’t the little chocolate bit at the end before you get to the wafer.

Seriously? Is nothing sacred? Why would they meddle with a perfectly good coffee accompaniment :(

And don’t even get me started on the downward spiral of the Twix.

mamabear715 · 18/01/2023 19:30

@Margarita45 The ever decreasing Twix.. ;-)
If they got any smaller, they'd disappear! Can't speak for the taste, never liked 'em.

Whispers taste of plastic now. I used to love dunking them in hot chocolate and then licking the melting chocolate off them. 🤣 They taste horrible and don't melt properly now.

Do you remember when Snickers were Marathons and had a proper layer of peanuts on the top?

Palm oil.

Nestle does taste weird, I have switched to Aldi now, their version of a Toblerone and their giant chocolate buttons are delicious!

aghostinthethroat · 18/01/2023 21:05

Chocolate is rubbish these days, I tend to buy Milka if I buy any at all.

What I miss the most is a proper Time Out, none of this Wafer nonsense.

PermanentlyinUAT · 18/01/2023 21:11

I literally had this conversation with my husband about 20 minutes.
Maddie from the taste and you’re right it’s different, I miss sticking my nail into the tin foil and snapping it half. What’s next, the twix?

PermanentlyinUAT · 18/01/2023 21:11

Bloody auto correct.
Aside from*

Nestle chocolate is disgustingly bad, nasty cheap chocolate. KitKats though, USED to be good.

Not any more sadly.

Maryland1728 · 11/09/2023 20:29

Also, the stuff in between the wafers is oily. It used to be a drier texture that melted on your tongue. It's more like a light brown white chocolate substance now. They really need to change it back. I don't care about them being greedy with the chocolate but when they mess with the in between stuff then make a commercial about it then it's like a slap in the face. Anyway, so disappointing. Kitkat used to be my favorite

MLBDAR · 26/10/2023 20:02

Agree. Just bought two bags of Halloween candy thinking I would be able to eat lots of yummy KitKat bars. They no longer snap apart. They no longer taste like chocolate. They just taste like high cholesterol palm oil. Ours are going in the garbage. Nestlé ruined a classic.

Had a Walnut Whip for first time in years yesterday after a random craving - the chocolate was vile and the filling thin and tasteless. Sad to hear Kit Kats are also rubbish now.

It’s criminal what they’ve done to walnut whips! They used to be my absolute favourite, can’t eat them now they’ve been ruined 😠
The filling is supposed to be marshmallow, it’s not it’s some kind of runny sickly mess.

I'm aware it's expensive, but if you fancy some decent chocolate, Whittakers (a New Zealand brand) is delicious! Cadbury's is very sweet here - like the American version but Whittakers isn't - I love the creamy milk (I may or may not be eating some now) but the other flavours are great too - but not the oat milk, that was a bit weird. I sometimes order it as a present for my relatives in UK from here https://www.sanza.co.uk/new_zealand_brands.asp?brand=Whittakers

All chocolate is horrible now, very annoying. I buy Waitrose No1 but it's expensive for what it is. It's edible though.

Shortkiwi · 27/10/2023 09:27

OMG @dontevenblink - been to NZ twice in the last year and munched my way through many bars of Whittakers- delicious!! The honey and almond is gorgeous- like Toblerone. I’m going back in January so will be stocking up!

dontevenblink · 27/10/2023 11:39

@Shortkiwi if you haven't already tried it, the Lewis Creamery chocolate milk made with whittakers choc is delicious - they even do a lactose free version (just ignore the calories lol) Well worth a try next time you're here!

Shortkiwi · 27/10/2023 12:05

@dontevenblink Right, thanks, I’ll look out for it! 👍
