What has happened to Kit Kat’s???

Bought a packet of 2 finger Kit Kat’s this morning, 9 of them in the pack I think.

So firstly, the packaging has changed. No idea why because you can’t recycle the new packaging at home 🙄

But then I realise it’s because they are smaller… I don’t have an old one to check this but I’m sure of it!

And they taste different. Maybe the chocolate is thinner but the ratio seems wrong and there wasn’t the little chocolate bit at the end before you get to the wafer.

Seriously? Is nothing sacred? Why would they meddle with a perfectly good coffee accompaniment :(

Tunnocks Caramel Wafers - that's what you need. They haven't changed in my lifetime, and they're fab. (I'm sorry to hear about Kit Kats, though. That's a shame.)

That is true @Time40 Tunnocks caramel wafers haven't changed and they're fab, but the chocolate has ALWAYS been super thin on them.

Disappointed to read about KitKat's, used to love those.

hattie43 · 18/01/2023 09:02

Kits Kats are definitely poor quality now . I still like cadburys but I've discovered Tony's which is nice , pricey but eat less of it

The chocolate but at the end was the most important. It is indeed sacred. I’m boycotting them now.

Anyone here tried James Cadbury's chocolate, is it worth the high price? It's the love cocoa brand.

dudsville · 18/01/2023 09:25

I just feel like everything is always getting worse. If it's an established brand then they will be trying to increase income by saving costs on ingredients and packaging, manufacturing and staff. The only hope for good quality is a new brand of thing, whatever it is.

Can't find a current kit kat label but look at difference between one from 2012 and now. All those random oils!

I'm getting like my Granny now, she used to say things tasted better in 'her day'. Now I'm saying the same thing!
Chocolate
Bacon
Cheese
Petrol (that new E10 stuff tastes horrible, I've stopped syphoning it.)
Fish Fingers
Baked Beans
Tinned Soup

saraclara · 18/01/2023 09:46

Yep. I used to get through loads of Kit Kats. Both the multi packs of small ones for home, and the full sized ones when on the run. Then they just stopped being nice.

I haven't had one in a long time. Wouldn't even consider buying them now.

MissyB1 · 18/01/2023 09:49

I find it hard to eat any chocolate now, it all tastes horrible 🙁 I have 3 unopened boxes of chocolates left from Christmas.

MissyB1 · 18/01/2023 09:49

Oh and I know people on here love Lindt but I really can’t stand it! It tastes stale to me 🤔

Saintasaurus · 18/01/2023 09:54

It tastes like American chocolate, vile!

If you can get Marabou chocolate it’s divine! Like real chocolate.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 18/01/2023 09:56

A few years ago Nestle were boasting about KitKats now having more cocoa in them. Someone on their Facebook page pointed out that they also now had less sugar in them, which the extra cocoa was obviously meant to disguise.

Stressybetty · 18/01/2023 10:03

I'm actually addicted to Cadburys caramilk at the moment. Tastes like caramac but much creamier, yummy

WildFlowerBees · 18/01/2023 10:06

Sainsbury’s own chocolate is surprisingly good no palm oil.

Monkeyrules · 18/01/2023 10:23

Most chocolate nowadays is disgusting. Are the people that run these companies so thick that they can't see they are losing so many customers by ruining their products.

I think they live in an echo chamber with supermarkets that are just focused on price rather than quality.

That said, my health is so much better now I didn't eat their yucky palm oil greasy rubbish.

Ponderingtosk · 18/01/2023 10:32

Kit Kat have definitely seen better days. I now buy Asda caramel, they are a fake Twix, lots of lovely chocolate too.

Milany · 18/01/2023 10:36

I thought it was me! I had my first KitKat in years last week. It tasted horrible.

I've taken to buying these. Taste nice, British and palm pil free. Not cheap at all and you have to plan ahead/ration them though.

Milany · 18/01/2023 10:37

Although, I've decided to reduce my dairy consumption so I may have to accept awful vegan chocolate.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 18/01/2023 10:37

I think it may be the same as why Cadbury tastes like it's dipped in chip oil now, they no longer use palm oil.

And they are smaller.

mumda · 18/01/2023 10:38

They were allegedly the best selling chocolate bar in the UK when they were wrapped in foil. Because they were wrapped in foil and that has a use for a sector of the population.

The dark chocolates ones are nice.

xogossipgirlxo · 18/01/2023 10:55

Has anyone else noticed big kit kats taste better than the thin ones? 🤐

QueefQueen80s · 18/01/2023 11:02

I used to be a chocoholic but all these changes in the taste have stopped that, which is a good thing in a way but I just eat different junk now so.. I'd rather have the quality stuff back.
It's not worth the calories, you can taste the nothingness/sludge.
I remember the SMELL of a creme egg through the foil, the creaminess of galaxy, cadburys, the smell of maltesers when you opened the box..
Now they smell of nothing 😢

Shufflebumnessie · 18/01/2023 12:04

It seems as though Nestle can't even be bothered helping you distinguish between the different flavours when they're all in the biscuit tin together anymore. Then most recent pack of dark chocolate ones were just marked as 'flavour variant' on the front, you then have to check the tiny print on the flap to see what flavour it actually is!

Squirrelsnut · 18/01/2023 12:16

I like the newish Darkmilk by Cadbury's but yes, otherwise most normal chocolate bars are nothing like the delicious treat they used to be.
