Hair appointments, always get paranoid I've suddenly caught nits or something.

Argh - me too, especially when I was teaching primary!

I used to stand in the living room and do a hard hair brush on the wood floor to listen for nits 🤣🤣

When my cat sits on top of the fridge looking down ( like he is waiting for something 🫣😬🥺.

Going through security at the airport.

I know I'm not carrying bricks of heroin.
I know I don't have a bomb up my arse.

But what if...?

This too! Dh looks like Bez from the Happy Mondays and has a "I might have drugs up my arse vibe but it's ALWAYS me that gets stopped and drug swabbed. I'm a fat, middle aged teacher and look like one! 🤣

anyone walking behind me up the stairs.

Yes I’m like that as well but only when it’s dark .😶

Making a phone call 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have to talk myself into it which is silly i know,I always do it but get so nervous before hand & when my ex partner messages or is due to collect our boys,my tummy starts to go,he's always picking at something (For no reason) example we walk to school it's a 25 minute walk he told me I should be getting a taxi instead at a cost of €50 a week, we love the walk we talk the whole way & exercise 🚶🏻‍♀️he pays no maintenance mind (working on a court date for that) but it's always a non issue he tries to make an issue & says ok back to court to try intimidate me,he doesn't but it stresses me out as I try send the kids off with me being happy, smily so they feel good going as they are v v attached to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

EileenAdler · 12/01/2023 10:29

The dentist. Lifts in skyscrapers. Crowded tube train.

LoraPiano · 12/01/2023 10:31

when someone holds the door open for me

when I am going through a series of doors behind someone and they keep holding the door for me

LoraPiano · 12/01/2023 10:31

also when I see someone I know on the tube

Builtforcomfortbutnotspeed · 12/01/2023 10:35

Going to work
ive worked there for 6 years,I’m good at my job,I get on great with 99% of my colleagues and customers and I work damn hard
and I still shake with nerves as I turn the corner and the building comes into view

MooseBreath · 12/01/2023 10:38

Health visitors and doctors checking up on my obviously loved and cared-for children. I panic that there will be some sort of perceived abuse and I will wind up on Social Services' radar, or worse, my children will be taken away from me.

MaverickGooseGoose · 12/01/2023 10:39

I'm the same op, I would be like that too ditto any form of workman / plumber etc in the house. Hate it.

Also
Hairdresers
Phonecalls
Bumping into friends on the train
Bumping into acquaintances and having to do cringeworthy small talk eg school mums that I don't actually know.

Whylurkwhenicanjoinin · 12/01/2023 10:52

Driving down really steep roads, not only does it make my stomach flip I'm always concerned the brakes will fail. I take mum to Wales every Summer where a lot of tentative brake checking goes on!

(mine actually did fail once but luckily I was on a flat country lane and on my own!)

2catsandhappy · 12/01/2023 11:59

Zoom calls! Reminds me of when I used to have to leave voice messages on the old style tape machines. Tongue tied and stammering but now I get seen too. Daft I know.

LearnerCook · 12/01/2023 12:21

Talking on the phone. Both inbound and outbound calls. I get so worked up.

CapitanSandy · 12/01/2023 13:07

Any medical appointments and meetings where there’s an ice breaker question or a get to know you question.

I’d just like to get on with the meeting rather than tell people who I work with all the time a fact about myself!!

ILoveYouMoreTheEnd · 12/01/2023 13:41

Seeing only one magpie! Irrational I know but if I see two I'm happy 😊

junebirthdaygirl · 12/01/2023 13:50

Meeting a police car on the road or seeing one behind me in my rear window. Thinking l will do something wrong even though they are not even looking at me. And l have never been in trouble with them.

I have the phone call anxiety too. Found out last year its a symptom of ADHD which I suspect I have. That knowledge made it slightly easier for me to make the really unavoidable calls. Dh is used to doing all the rest for me.

squashyhat · 12/01/2023 13:55

Having to get a taxi. I hate both chatty drivers and quiet drivers. I never know whether to give them directions or wait until they ask. If I'm in an unfamiliar place I worry that they are deliberately going the long way. I spend most of the journey trying to work out the tip and inevitably over or under do it.

SouthCountryGirl · 12/01/2023 13:55

Workmen or in general, strange people in my flat

the80sweregreat · 12/01/2023 13:56

Driving
Workmen , not sure why as it's always ok
Oddly , trying on new shoes or clothes , hate it !
