I didn't get the best night's sleep due to DH tossing and turning. Woke up this morning feeling a bit tired and sniffly.

This weekend was always going to be a big test for me. Yesterday wasn't much fun but I'm glad I managed to hold on to DJ by the skin of my teeth. Roll on Monday!

Greatly · 15/01/2023 07:58

Hi all. I feel quite unwell - I'm low carbing as well so hoping it's just a cleansing of toxins or something. Feeling far less positive than the first week. Not tempted to drink at all but feeling grumpy and flat,as well as achey and tired.

Veryfishy · 15/01/2023 08:22

Day 15 👍
@Greatly im on Bootcamp too , I did it last year and had Carb Flu so badly that I gave up and started eating toast , so if you have that , yep , it’s awful
I’m drinking loads of water and adding sea salt crystals to all my meals , went a bit too far on the scrambled eggs one morning and 🤢I’m a bit more careful now
I hope you start feeling better soon

Sunday is always my most difficult day , DH is traditional and likes a roast on Sunday and I have a habit of having a glass of wine whilst I make the gravy
I’m going to town later and will top up on posh tonic ! I’m on the fever tree rose and rhubarb at the moment ( like the Queen Mum , I like a pink drink 💖

Happy Sunday

KatieBenz · 15/01/2023 08:31

Morning all. Day 13 for me. Finally had a half decent sleep. Had family around for a meal last night and both me and DH stayed sober. Would usually have downed 2/3 bottles between us on that sort of occasion 😉. What is working for me is seeing all the money I am saving. If neither of us drink, I transfer £15 per day into a separate savings account. It’s now at £195! Im going to spend the savings on a city break later in the year. I did this last year and looking back at the records, I note that after a successful DJ, me and DH were back to our normal (bad) pattern by June. This year, we are determined to do better!

pollyannaperspective · 15/01/2023 08:35

Another one waking feeling very below par. In my case I think I am dehydrated. I need to up my water drinking during the day. Recalling what I drank yesterday, it definitely wasn't sufficient.
Otherwise, DJ going OK here.
Well done to all who managed to to stay on track this weekend. If not, just note what you need to as to why and start again with DJ today.
Belated birthday wishes to Hedjwitch.

Els1e · 15/01/2023 08:45

Morning. Day 15 for me. Found this weekend tougher but didn’t crack. I don’t know if it’s the January blues but generally felt a bit down. Still, going to plough on. This thread is definitely helping my resolve to continue. Thank you!

MeinKraft · 15/01/2023 09:23

Sorry everyone's feeling a bit rubbish this morning, I still feel like something is working on me but hasn't turned into a full blown illness yet. Could be my gallstones just making me feel tired I suppose.

DH did drink last night and despite me feeling understanding yesterday, I do feel disappointed and annoyed at him today. I don't want to go back to the days of drinking too much, and he says he doesn't want that either. I suppose I was hoping he would prove to me that he wanted to change his drinking habits. And the reason I started DJ was to support him and now he's gone and drank while I was sitting at home sober! But if anything it's made me even more determined that I'm going to do it. Honestly if I could click my fingers and banish alcohol from earth right now I would do it, it causes so many problems.

Hedjwitch · 15/01/2023 09:41

Feeling glum here too. My birthday yesterday was nice ....but not much fun if that makes sense. Didnt sleep well. Gone back to bed with coffee.

Greatly · 15/01/2023 10:23

Another one feeling really blue! I'm hoping this is the "darkness before dawn" and that I'll feel amazing by Wednesday 😂

Fingers crossed.

Greatly · 15/01/2023 10:24

Oh and Happy Birthday @Hedjwitch !

DanielleandBobby · 15/01/2023 10:33

I feel so bad. I cracked after 13 AF days and had a glass of white wine last night. I was weak and am so cross with myself this morning. Don’t know why I did it really - a combination possibly of the awful weather and a bit of stress at work made me think ‘sod it’ and I opened a bottle (that incidentally was a present given to me this week by a friend). If the wine hadn’t been there I would have just had an AF Guinness!

I’m determined not to do this again for the rest of the month and the wine will be poured down the sink later. Anyone else feeling hopeless? I’m just so disappointed in myself.

DanielleandBobby · 15/01/2023 10:34

Oh and I woke up feeling groggy and a little bit ‘poisoned’ tbh.

FlightDeckBuckarooo · 15/01/2023 10:39

Sorry to hear that so many of you are feeling low. It’s probably no coincidence that tomorrow is Blue Monday - apparently the most gloomy day of the year - but you are all doing so well sticking to DJ as we enter the second half of Jan so please remember that. I read that 50% of people have already given up totally on DJ any this point which just proves how well we are doing.

Don't get this out of proportion. You cracked, you regret it, no harm done. It's a lifestyle shift not a punishment or test.

JonSnowsCupbearer · 15/01/2023 11:15

I drank yesterday too. We have come away with friends and I was given a glass as soon as we arrived. I was very measured in the amount, so I don't feel too bad as usually with these friends we drink a lot. My DH didn't, we had taken AF beers and he stuck to those, but the friendship stems from me and the male of the couple so it is us two that have the drinking history if that makes sense.
No hangover today and I don't feel in danger of drinking tonight, so all in I am going to take the positives from it...I used restraint in a social situation, hopefully I'll take this forward in February.
Still a bit gutted though.

JonSnowsCupbearer · 15/01/2023 11:16

@Hedjwitch happy birthday for yesterday 😊

DanielleandBobby · 15/01/2023 11:29

@OneFrenchEgg you are so right - thank you. I feel much better now, drinking coffee and feeling grateful for other pleasures in life 😊

Teaformetoo · 15/01/2023 11:29

I’m also doing DJ and very pleased to find this thread. I had two glasses of Nonsecco last night and have woken up with a right headache this morning which seems a bit unfair!
Well done to everyone having a go - one day at a time.

pointythings · 15/01/2023 12:24

I slept really badly, but that isn't unusual for me when there are high winds - I have the side gate right under my window and when the wind is in the wrong direction it rattles, but irregularly. Guaranteed to mess with my sleep.

I just really hope I get a decision about the job tomorrow. Interviewer admitted their HR are snowed under, so it might be a while. And I don't want to start another application while waiting for this one, got burned by that tactic not so long ago.

Spirini · 15/01/2023 12:45

Another one feeling very depressed, in fact last night I was so down I actually cried 😢. Marginally better today, I generally find Sundays awful for some reason. DH has brought our reluctant DS to football which doesn't help. I think we're going to have to accept he doesn't like it and give it up.

I also nearly caved last night but I didn't, so I need to focus on that as a big positive. Can't believe we've two more weekends of this! Ugh.

Spirini · 15/01/2023 12:45

Happy belated birthday @Hedjwitch 🎂

WaxingGibbon · 15/01/2023 13:06

Hi all and sending a big power boost to anyone who's feeling a bit gloomy and / or had a little slip up. There's definitely a bit of a mid month dip going on for many of us.

I'm actually doing ok because I had my blood pressure checked on friday - worrying about elevated BP was one of my motivators for dry January (I've been trying to exercise a bit more and eat a bit more healthily too) and it's actually back in the normal range, so feeling v relieved.

Hang in there everyone and go easy on yourselves today.

Fuwari · 15/01/2023 13:52

@pointythings
Hope you get good news about the job.
@freshstart2023
Well done for resisting temptation! It can't have been easy I'm sure but hope you feel rightly proud of yourself today.

Sorry to hear how many are feeling down and or unwell. As someone said, it is meant to be the most depressing day of the year tomorrow so maybe that isn't helping. You'll very soon be over halfway though which is brilliant. Still pottering along here. First proper AF days coming up for me this week. I'm weirdly looking forward to getting some days in the bag, so to speak. Might feel differently on the day!

OneFrenchEgg · 15/01/2023 14:13

You're welcome @DanielleandBobby it's just another day.

Stickywhitelovepiss · 15/01/2023 16:09

Stressy event. Dropped phone (with bank card - just the one) in, and within minutes it had been had. But without bank app on phone couldn't disable card without having to go through to bank, etc., then cross-board password reset, etc... So stress on more stress.

I'm not going to let it derail me. A glass of wine won't bring my phone back after all.
