It's old news, so why're they posting it now?

As this all happened in 2019 and he is a far more (financially) successful journalist than she is, I doubt it.

I'm sure it said in that or a similar article that MN made over 8 million in profit last year... I find it hard to believe any journalist makes that much!

And still not edit button...

mids2019 · 10/01/2023 11:11

Can it be standard advice to people that it's not so bad to break up as the kids get two Christmases? Is this not tone deaf to a lot of peoples' experiences. How many women's husbands experience a tornado of love as a result of a midlife crisis and is this perfectly acceptable?

Infidelity isn't mentioned but the author wasn't looking to leave a marriage but was love struck. Was it really the case that one physical relationship ended before another began?

Yip I think the husband needs to on the relationship board for advice.

It is old news though.
The only reason is to punish Justin. There is no newsworthy reason at all.

When I read "Justin" I always think of Justin Fletcher.
Really hoping Justine didn't go off with Mr Tumble.

@Inkpotlover On MN we are all entitled to post comments and disagree with others.

I'm sorry if you feel this is something that upsets you and you need to keep coming back to take pot shots at me for daring to make a comment you didn't like.

Honestly, lighten up a bit. Accept that if you make a judgment on something, (which you did- saying the gender of JR's partner was no one's business) that others may see that as you policing what they ask/ post.

Enjoy your day.

FGS! Justine and her husband split up four years ago. We have no idea if infidelity was involved on either side. Nor should we.

Now she's found love again. Good for her.

Revenue a few years ago was over 8m. Revenue!=Profit. Profit!=CEO's personal income.

Her husband has run channel 4's content group in one of his roles as a journalist. Others including editing broadsheets and Newsnight.
Journalist as a title covers a myriad of roles across media and business.

Nicola Roberts has gone off with Justin Fletcher?!! Wow, there is a scope the DM has missed

Probably because she rightfully called out the craziness regarding some of the H&M threads/posts which then makes her DM public enemy number 2 😆

Ooh is "snigger" the new "LOL" or "LMAO"?

I know there's an emoji but have now seen it typed out instead many times within the last couple of days.

Just wondering what's in and what's out, so we can keep up.

astarsheis · 10/01/2023 15:04

I had to google 'Justine Roberts'...shows how invested I am on mumsnet and also don't read the Daily Fail 😂

'Snigger' is arsey as fuck isn't it!

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/01/2023 18:22

Justine is a very well known public figure (well not to one pp it seems Grin ) and she loves a bit of the Fail. Remember when she wanted to put the "Today On Mumsnet" column started by a MN user who was also a freelance journalist on a more formal MN endorsed basis? We had so many threads on that in about 2009!

Having said all that I am a big fat hypocrite because of course everyone is entitled to end their marriage so this thread seems a bit off to me.

Fandabadobie · 10/01/2023 07:42

Snigger! She's the founder of Mumsnet who has experienced a Tornado of Love from another woman and believes her children are fine with it because they have 2 Christmases.
She clearly hasn't sought advice from the AIBU section 🤣

How do you know she's been caught up in a tornado of lesbian love? I wonder if she's been beguiled by one of the long term posters on here? Wink

I misheard. I thought Nicola Sturgeon had run away with Justin Bieber.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds them.

Oh, right. Well, I am aware that revenue does not equal profit. So I misremembered that sentence, obviously! But I am also aware that a journalist even at the high end, does not earn that much. As a broadcasting executive, that is another matter... And I see on rereading, that it was a figure from 2018, and of course that has likely reduced due to matters I won't mention. I still very much doubt JR needs to raid the coin jar to get through the week.

And I still would suggest that at whatever level of profit per annum, MN can afford to get an edit button for their forums.

"at that level of revenue" I think you mean.

Neither profit nor revenue equate to CEO salary.

Journalists with sufficient profile will certainly make big money. Books, speaking, company directorships, lobbying jobs and yes broadcasting too amongst the many ways the top end of journalism can drive income well above the CEO salary of a medium sized enterprise.

We can agree on one thing - I doubt either of them need to raid the cookie jar, or ever have had to in the past.

thewinterwitch · 10/01/2023 21:32

I don't think I mean anything. I misremembered something I read while skim-reading a couple of articles online, was corrected, thank you very much.
