It's old news, so why're they posting it now?

OP posts:

Are there any new settlement figures?

Although, I don't know who she is!

Snigger! She's the founder of Mumsnet who has experienced a Tornado of Love from another woman and believes her children are fine with it because they have 2 Christmases.
She clearly hasn't sought advice from the AIBU section 🤣

MayThe4th · 10/01/2023 07:44

She clearly hasn't sought advice from the AIBU section 🤣 or the relationships board.

Wonder if she’ll have to sell mn to give her ex his half….

I am wondering this too.

Or start charging for the site.

Are you Justine Roberts? If not, was there any need to do that snarkily? Confused

Oh come on! It was funny and if anything your post was the snarky one.

well, they’ve already tried that haven’t they by launching premium during the pandemic, claiming hardship etc which went down like a lead balloon given that there are members here who live on the breadline and Justine’s £250k salary doesn’t exactly fit That mould.

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2023 07:52

Rofling at the gullibility of posters thinking Justine sits on the phone begging the Mail to buy the invented bilge they lift from here. They're the ones who start the threads you all sit weeing on your keyboard and throwing tea on your children about while begging for updates.

I think that’s an accurate picture!

Why are you even interested in the thread and in ‘new settlement figures’ if you don’t even know who she is….?

If I had been her husband I would have signed up to mn and gone on to the relationships board to get support for the fact my wife was shagging someone else and had spun me the “tornado of love” bollocks to justify it.

Seriously, how self absorbed does someone have to be when they own a website, where many women seek support for their husbands’ infidelity and the aftermath thereof to then essentially brag about their own infidelity in the tackiest way possible in the tabloids.

I would certainly think twice about posting about infidelity on a website where the owner practically endorses cheating on your partner.

They separated in 2019...its 2023.

That DM article is a complete rehash of parts of the Daily Telegraph interview - the Telegraph should challenge them for copyright.

MrsJBaptiste · 10/01/2023 07:11

Because a hell of a lot of people read the Daily Mail and so need the content.

And why call it the Daily Fail? 🙄

Yes, the irony of the OP calling the source SHE has looked at and posted about - "the Daily Fail"
😂

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/01/2023 07:01

No, I'm not Justine. If you found that snarky, good luck with AIBU. I found it odd you would comment on a gossip story without any idea who the celebrity was.

You know as well as I do that that's exactly what 'HTH' is so let's not pretend otherwise.

I was simply giving a suggestion as to why somebody who's divorce has already been reported on may be making front page news but ok.

MayThe4th · 10/01/2023 08:10

Does it matter when it was?

She had an affair and is proud of the fact.

How many threads do we see here from posters who were e.g. the OW and have been with their partner for years, they get little sympathy here so why is she any different?

Giving an interview o your infidelity is crass regardless of when it happened.

/and if it was 2019 maybe that explains why there was the push for premium membership in 2020.

LetsDoThis2023 · 10/01/2023 08:11

I agree. Don't call it the Daily Fail.

Instead call it the more accurate Daily spew of right wing propoganda, written to rile up those susceptible to bigotry in order to keep propping up the rich and powerful.

Not as snappy though, is it?

Inkpotlover · 10/01/2023 08:19

Like it or not, there's huge public interest in her divorce. She's founder of a website where millions of women seek advice on what to do when their partner leaves them for someone else. If she's done the same, of course it's going to be reported on.

OhMonDieux · 10/01/2023 08:19

I wonder if this thread will be taken down? Discussing the CEO? But then, she has put it in the public domain.

I was surprised that she appears to minimise the impact on her children. Having friends whose parents divorced when they (the kids) were adults doesn't minimise the impact usually.

Do they really think this?

Asked how their children have taken it, she insists: ‘Great. In many ways they’re seeing the benefits of having two Christmases, things like that.

So adult kids are happy to have two Christmases?

Matt Handcock comes to mind. 'Blown away' and just had to leave her husband.

Don't people say on MN, that you should leave because it's not working, not because of lust for someone else?

Tamarindtree · 10/01/2023 08:20

Is the new partner a woman?

OhMonDieux · 10/01/2023 08:22

Tamarindtree · 10/01/2023 08:20

Unnamed in the Mail but the longer version was in the Telegraph.

lljkk · 10/01/2023 08:26

Why do people say Daily Fail not Daily Wail? Daily Wail makes sense to me.

One thing you can't say about DM is that it 'fails' to be media success.
However, It sure does encourage Wailing (hate-filled sometimes)

As for JR, I'm quietly pleased that her life hasn't conformed to MN groupthink.

Inkpotlover · 10/01/2023 08:27

OhMonDieux · 10/01/2023 08:22

Not named or clarified in the Telegraph either, and it should stay that way. It's her business, and her partner's.

ssd · 10/01/2023 08:30

I think Justine always seems to talk sense. And its ridiculous saying she was proud to have an affair FFS. Nowhere does it say she was proud. But she isnt ashamed either and why should she be? Both parties including the kids seem to have moved on and are doing fine. Or would some posters prefer her to be bitter like them?

Orangefir · 10/01/2023 08:30

Why?

Because she’s practicality the Mails editor…..have you seen how many mumsnet threads end up on the DM online?! at least 5 a week. I love reading the DMs readers complain about it!

Also, it seems the DM keeps an eye on the Womens rights section for stories.

Grin

ah yes, "selling" stories from a site that's free to access. I'm sure the DM are desperate to pay big bucks when everyone reads it for free!

OhMonDieux · 10/01/2023 08:31

@Inkpotlover Do you also think as it's 'her business' she ought not to have agreed to be interviewed at all and had it in the public domain?

You seem to be slapping posters' wrists for asking, yet she's launched her story, willingly.

And you are joining in the discussion.
