I got the Great Pyramid of Giza! About half way through it. Mixes my loves of ancient history and Lego, it's a beauty!

Breakfastinbedonhols · 03/01/2023 19:58

I didn’t have any for Christmas this year, but I bought quite a bit throughout the year Blush
I have been collecting the Chinese New Year sets, so will get that soon.

ShaunaTheSheep · 03/01/2023 19:58

This year's Christmas village set, to add to my gingerbread and elf houses. Won't build it until December though.

Son got Groot and Venom. He's beyond excited and Venom is currently sat in my living room watching TV

Raindancer411 · 03/01/2023 19:59

I got Santa's visit last year for myself and still haven't built it. This year my DH got me the orchid. Once the youngest started nursery, I may have time to do them lol

Breakfastinbedonhols · 03/01/2023 20:01

Do you keep the boxes?
I have quite a few sets that I haven’t opened and don’t intend to! The biggest I have stored is Barracuda Bay.

MrsTaytodarling · 03/01/2023 22:09

That pyramid one looks stunning

The DC are very happy as they got a lot of Marvel Lego.

hattie43 · 05/01/2023 18:04

I got the elf house and a goofy key ring .

What is the point? Not trying to be rude but I can't think why anyone would do this.

I do keep the boxes but only because I often take things apart and put them away for a year or 2 then go back to them.

iklboo · 05/01/2023 18:11

I got DH the Razor Crest with lighting kit. That's pretty cool.

lazarusb · 05/01/2023 18:12

I was given the orchid for Christmas and my son built it last night - I didn't think I'd have patience with the fragility of it!

I gave DH the Sesame Street set but we don't have anywhere to put it so it's still in its box for the time being.

Lego increases in value if not opened. Obviously if you want to build it that's great but it's also a decent investment if you have space to store unopened sets for ten or twenty years. Google how much some of the retired sets change hands for.

DanteThunderstone · 05/01/2023 18:16

E.g. the 2007 Millennium Falcon retailed for 300 and is now worth 2000 boxfresh.

DanteThunderstone · 05/01/2023 18:19

And the 2016 Death Star has already doubled in value.

Afolnerd · 05/01/2023 18:21

I got the succulents and the new Xmas village.
ds18 got bd1? The Star Wars droid
dd16 got groot
ds7 got the ender dragon and some other little sets
and dd8 got the massive Disney castle from her very generous older brother!
Dh is (pretend) sulking as everyone else got Lego and he didn’t. He did get Springsteen tickets though!
there is a lot of Lego in our house.
and yes to resale value. New or used, Definitely keep the boxes.

caravanbuckie · 05/01/2023 18:21

Oh haha I just buy it to play with!

Senseofsomething · 05/01/2023 18:25

I have the Jazz Quartet. Really looking forward to building it. I’m kind of saving it till January gets depressing!

Whatthetrolley · 05/01/2023 18:27

We've got Baby Yoda to be made, DS has decided he's spending 10 hours next Saturday building it. 🤷‍♀️ It's also his birthday soon, if he gets on well with a bigger set am contemplating getting him the Bowser figure from Mario.

terrywynne · 05/01/2023 18:51

I got the 70th anniversary medieval castle. It is fab. Has got a secret passage and functioning portcullis. Seige warfare is now being waged.

PollyEsther · 05/01/2023 19:10

I got the Ministry of Magic! It's awesome, but definitely on the pricey side for the size of the set. I paid not much more for the Chamber of Secrets earlier last year.

DH got the trash compactor Star Wars diorama, DCs got (between them) a couple of small Friends sets, the Thor goat boat, Minecraft fox lodge and Minecraft bee farm.

I'm currently coveting all the new HP release stuff, even though I don't have all the old release. yet We have several dedicated lego Billy bookcases across the house. Dread to think how much we've spent!

Needmorelego · 05/01/2023 19:18

I am a huge fan of Lego Friends and am really excited about the reboot (they've retired the original 5 characters and got new ones).
I managed to get 2 of the new sets on New Year's Eve even though they technically weren't released until January 1st.
Looking forward to getting the Friends Cat Motel - they didn't have that in stock 😕
There some brilliant Creator 3 in 1s coming this year. Lots of colourful birds.

always2ndbest · 05/01/2023 19:18

I got the Home Alone house.....it's amazing.
