DH got me Harry Potter’s Hogsmede as I’m starting a little Christmas village (I had the Gingerbread House last year, the Elf House and Santa’s Sleigh for my birthday). We went to Legoland in the summer and I bought the Christmas wreath which looked great hung on the wall.

I bought DH a Tallneck from Forbidden Horizon and DS (4) had a Spider-Man theme park set.

The Botanicals sets are my favourites, I have the Bouquet, individual roses and the Orchid but am considering the Succulents for my birthday this year!

For fans of Christmas Lego there is a Facebook group ‘Fans of Lego Winter Village’ with lots of great pics, inspiration and advice.

If anyone is looking for presentation cases for some of the mid size sets, I’d seen that some people bought clear plastic shoe boxes from Costco. They have them in the UK stores at 4 boxes for £30ish. You can pay that for one case on Amazon/a specialist supplier.

Dh got Optimus Prime which he’s already built and I got the bouquet. I’m not the best with Lego and need to find a vase they can fit in so I’ve not attempted to build them yet but they look fiddly.

I got the Goat Boat from the latest Thor movie, husband got the Darth Vader mask and Boba Fett's ship.
We have quite a few still in the box while we try to jiggle things around to make space to display them.

bluechameleon · 05/01/2023 19:39

I only got a tiny set myself (the polar bears, which are very cute) but really enjoyed helping DS1 build The Burrow.

Newlifefortyplus · 05/01/2023 19:40

Harry Potter Thestrals Carriage, and still deciding which set to get in the Argos sales with a voucher I was gifted.

PuttingDownRoots · 05/01/2023 19:47

I got the Christmas street, the Orchid, and the Beijing postcard. And the polar bears!

DDs got the Friends Theatre, bowling alley, Ministry of Magic and the Floral Art, which I'm looking forward to helping with.

Have you seen the latest releases? I want the birdhouse!!

always2ndbest · 05/01/2023 19:47

@iklboo it was a great build. Some very fiddly bits and getting the lights in was tricky, but so worth it. The little details are amazing, all the iconic scenes from the film are in there, it's incredible how they've recreated it so well in Lego

I didn't buy myself any for Christmas but did get the Lighthouse for my birthday, and had the Van Gogh painting so did that at Christmas.

I did go and buy the Jazz Club and the new painting (the wave) on new years day. Looking forward to the two new botanicals coming out on the 1st Feb.

Am running out of room though and have quite a few sets waiting to be made. And yes, I keep all the boxes. My Lego is an investment, that's what I tell myself anyway!!

CoodleMoodle · 05/01/2023 19:55

I didn't get any this year. Last year I got one of the flowers (roses). I've also got Benny's Spaceship from The Lego Movie, which I bought myself last year but still haven't started! Goal for this year.

DH got a Star Wars ship (I can't remember which). He hasn't started it yet.

DD8 got two of the HP classroom books (Divination and DADA), and then she bought Transfiguration with her Christmas money. She wants to use the rest to buy the Potions one but it's elusive! There's also a Charms one, apparently. Oh, and she got the big tiger!

DS4 got a quite a bit of 4+ Lego, including most of the Spidey sets. He used his Christmas money to get the lion rescue set.

feellikezerobucks · 05/01/2023 20:02

Lego Titanic in this house...built by DS13 by midday Boxing Day...last year it was the Colosseum which took slightly longer for him to build....

PuttingDownRoots · 05/01/2023 20:02

@CoodleMoodle there have been 6 classrooms but two were discontinued last year. Theres House ones being released soon

PuttingDownRoots · 05/01/2023 20:03

@feellikezerobucks pictures needed for ogling purposes!

I did wonder if they'd been discontinued! We need Charms, Potions and Herbology. DD likes to have the full set... It's her birthday soon so I'll have to start trawling eBay etc. We've got a lot of sets that way.

AdditionalCharacter · 05/01/2023 20:09

Didn't get any Lego myself, but DS2 got Bowser and I helped him build it. It was fun to build, I recommend it for Mario fans.

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 05/01/2023 20:54

I got the treehouse and the wreath. I'm half way through the treehouse, I think it will take about 10 hours in total. For my birthday I got the succulents which I'm yet to make. I have the other botanicals all displayed on a bookcase.
My DD got the Saturn V rocket. She was so pleased. She took 6 hours to make it and barely moved away during that time.

Breakfastinbedonhols · 05/01/2023 21:38

So glad there are others who keep the boxes. We were going to get rid of the Christmas set boxes this year, but I still have them stacked up because I can’t let go of them! I am 100% not getting rid of the Home Alone box though.
Our winter display is down now, but now I know there are a few more LEGO fans on here I might start a thread next year for us to post our pics on like the Playmobil lady Xmas Grin

Allthegoodnamesaregoneffs · 06/01/2023 20:00

I got myself 2 technic sets, the mclaren f1 car and the Porsche racing car.

Finished the porsche and half way through the mclaren.

Lots more technic I want but it's so expensive.

LadyTwinkle · 06/01/2023 20:05

I actually made a the Lego technic dump truck this afternoon, which was pretty cool. I can't really afford any of the big sets sadly. though I do really, really want the Ghostbusters firehouse. My brother has got the home alone house and hogwarts, which I admire with much envy.

iusedtohavechickens · 06/01/2023 20:08

I got the Harry Potter train, yet to start it as have been working!! 😞

PerpetuallyIndecisive · 06/01/2023 20:10

I’ve been working on the typewriter, which I’ve been saving for ages until I had time for it. It’s such a great build - it even sounds like a proper typewriter when you press the keys!

MrsTaytodarling · 06/01/2023 20:16

Delighted with my van gogh...

DH treated the family to the Home Alone house (it’s brilliant). DD had Grimmauld Place which is incredible - the houses either side move to reveal number 12! DS got some Minecraft sets.

TinaYouFatLard · 06/01/2023 23:02

I got the Van Gogh for Christmas and then a New Year surprise arrived in the form of Titanic!

MrsPatrickDempsey · 06/01/2023 23:09

I got DS the Back to the Future Delorean and last year I got the large Disney Castle. Built it then added the light set which was tear inducing as I had to practically rebuild to hide the wires. Totally worth it though.
