4yo and 3yo here, both still very asleep by the looks of it. I'm sitting in bed enjoying the peace before the chaos.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Woke up at 4:30 here! I'm hungover and had 4 hours sleep and now putting together an electric marble run that has more pieces than the Death Star with an excited 6 year old sat next to me criticising. Merry fucking Christmas! 🤣🤣🤣

JenniferWooley · 25/12/2022 07:34

I'm awake but DD21 isn't after telling me she'd be up early!

The best one ever was the year DD1 was about 6 & I had to go wake her. The conversation went along the lines of -

Me (all excited): DD1 come on get up let's go see if Santa has been
DD1 (still half asleep): just you go, & come back & tell me
Me(slightly less excited): no, come on up you get, your sister is waiting
DD1 (grudgingly gets out of bed, walks as far downstairs as needed to see into living room & looks through the bannister): aye, he's been (turned about & went back to bed)

I hope everyone has a lovely day, Merry Christmas.

Yep, I had to stay up late to put the presents out, past midnight. Dd still sleeping after kicking me awake in her sleep!

Vallmo47 · 25/12/2022 07:56

Still waiting too!! My kids never wake me either, I have the strangest kids!!!

oddwellingtonboots · 25/12/2022 07:56

DS came in just before 7am and said 'merry Christmas mummy' as he snuggled into me.

DP still snoozing tho...

ch4tterb0x · 25/12/2022 07:58

It's currently 7.58 and I am not so patiently waiting on my 6 and 8 year olds waking up 🤯

RoyKent · 25/12/2022 08:00

4 year old still asleep- she was up at 5am yesterday!

Alfiemoon1 · 25/12/2022 08:04

Yes but mine are 21 and 17. Elderly cat has had me up and down since 4 am and I can’t get back to sleep so sat mumsnetting listening to next doors young children all excited that Santa has been

CeriB82 · 25/12/2022 08:05

Ive been up since 6:30. Had 2 coffees, sorted the presents out, lit the fire, its been thundering and lightning and no one up.

mind they are 20/18/14 so ill probably see them at 12 noon

ill have a shower, make up and my friend will pop up later for a prosecco with her grandson who is 10 months old. Then well eat

CeriB82 · 25/12/2022 08:06

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 25/12/2022 08:06

Still waiting for my 12 year old 😂

Have a great Christmas all 🎄🥳

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 25/12/2022 08:07

I just WhatsApp'd them to say they could come in whenever they wanted but to bring us a cup of tea when they come. I've just heard footsteps going downstairs so I may get my drink soon 😁

JubileeTrifle · 25/12/2022 08:08

Teenager still asleep. Cat was up early. Hes excited but has to wait (loves the paper).

Violet1988 · 25/12/2022 08:09

3 and 6 and still asleep. The baby is awake now but I managed a shower before he woke up so I'm winning so far 😂

Season0fTheWitch · 25/12/2022 08:11

All 3 DDs are miraculously fast asleep. 3mo DD woke up for a feed an hour ago so i think we're good for an hour. DH and I having a coffee and opening our gifts for each other while we have time.
Merry Christmas! 🎄 ✨

OutDamnedSpot · 25/12/2022 08:11

I’m on my second coffee…

DC2 woke me up not long after 6, but went back to bed with a screen to wait for DC1 to wake up. DC1 has not woken up, despite mine and the DCat’s best efforts.

I’m wishing I’d just rolled over and gone back to sleep

Chickydoo · 25/12/2022 08:12

Mine are 27, 25, 23 and 18 and they are all asleep still & they all have stockings. I am having a coffee & waiting for them all to wake up. Mind you with the amount of alcohol consumed last night....it might be a while.

DominoRules · 25/12/2022 08:14

Just sent the dog into teenagers room, that’ll wake him up! DH and I awake at 5 excited 😂 reminiscing about the year the DC tag teamed and we were up ALL night then had 22 people for Christmas Day…… Lovely memories

Exhausteddog · 25/12/2022 08:15

Ds(13) got up at 8. But it will be a while before DD (16) surfaces and he likes wait for her so they open their stockings together.

Nicewarmfeet · 25/12/2022 08:15

My dd 5 is still snoozing!! Come on!

PortiasBiscuit · 25/12/2022 08:16

Mine are 17yo and 19yo now. I always had to wake them up when they were little.
Just sat here with the cat, eating toast now.

gerbo · 25/12/2022 08:17

Yes! I'm making tea and checking mumsnet as for the first time ever mine are still asleep, almost 13 and 15.

It's very strange....the house is so quiet! My nieces were up at 530....part of me misses that, part of me doesn't.

Things move on, I guess. Right, upstairs for tea in bed to await my children.....

poorbuthappy · 25/12/2022 08:19

18 and 14 year old twins. Still asleep. We're led in bed drinking coffee listening to the dog snuffling outside their doors trying to wake them up .

Same here! I've just done my food prep and jumped back into bed. Last year my teens (13 and 15) didn't appear until 12.30pm. I saw their stuffed stockings sitting outside their bedrooms and thought: surely this has never happened in the history of mankind!!
