Is it a first passport? You often don't need a countersignatory with a renewal.

CalloohCallayFrabjousDay · 20/12/2022 18:01

The list of acceptable professions is quite big. Is there not a teacher or dentist or anyone like that you could ask?

TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 20/12/2022 18:01

So many people I know face this problem

singleisbetter · 20/12/2022 18:02

I know a hairdresser who has countersigned a few. Could you ask your doctor? They used to do them (pre covid)

Clymene · 20/12/2022 18:06

Pub owner? Corner shop owner? A neighbour?

dementedpixie · 20/12/2022 18:07

Maybe a neighbour has a suitable profession. A small business owner? E.g. owns a corner shop, owns a pub, etc. If you have children does one of their friends have a parent that would be able to sign?

dementedpixie · 20/12/2022 18:08

A GP won't do it unless they know you personally as a friend

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 20/12/2022 18:13

Do you work? Anyone there? Or at your previous place if you've not been there that long?

TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 20/12/2022 18:14

A hairdresser? Are hairdressers on the list?

singleisbetter · 20/12/2022 18:17

every one i seem to ask dont have a passport of there own

OP posts:
singleisbetter · 20/12/2022 18:20

clarrylove · 20/12/2022 18:21

If you have a job, what about someone there? HR dept?

dementedpixie · 20/12/2022 18:22

They don't need to be your friend as such. They just need to confirm they've known you for 2 years. What about your boss?

2bazookas · 20/12/2022 18:23

You have no neighbours, no employer, no work colleagues; no GP, dentist, vet,
local pharmacist???????

mondaytosunday · 20/12/2022 18:26

Im sure I got mine countersigned at the post office using my drivers license as ID. Lawyers would do it too for a fee.

TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 20/12/2022 18:28

They need to have known you for 2 years don't they? A 'fee' bypasses that?

TerraNostra · 20/12/2022 18:28

Not true. You have to have known the person for 2 years. Lawyers will not lie about that for a few.

TerraNostra · 20/12/2022 18:28

*fee

America12 · 20/12/2022 18:30

Boss ?

toomuchlaundry · 20/12/2022 18:31

Do you work by yourself?

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 20/12/2022 18:32

One of my friends countersigned someone's passport giving her occupation as 'housewife'. There were no problems.

Claudia84 · 20/12/2022 18:33

If you work what about your manager?
