It's been bloody miserable. Thank goodness for a short spell of respite.

Yes!! Thank god.

WorriedMillie · 19/12/2022 19:49

Yea, it’s lovely :)

TakingControl2023 · 19/12/2022 19:49

Me! I took my DM out for a few last minute bits and was so nice not to have to worry about her on the ice Smile

cantbeforeal · 19/12/2022 19:49

Yes I opened the doors and windows to let some heat in 🤣

Haveahappyholiday · 19/12/2022 19:49

Yes it was normal cold today.

Fufumcgoo · 19/12/2022 19:52

It honestly been horrid, coupled with not being able to properly heat the house due to being careful with costs.

Reminded me of my childhood when I was cold all the time because my dad refused to heat the house and kept the windows open.

Makes the thread slightly less light hearted but I found the last couple of weeks quite emotionally challenging. Always swore I and my children would have a warm house.

Yes, my heating has hardly clicked on. Been torrential rain so been in but still been much warmer

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 19/12/2022 19:57

Yes.

Pinkbananas01 · 19/12/2022 19:58

Yes! Cold coupled with central heating triggers huge skin problems for me. So much better today with wet weather, o heating& even some windows open :))))

Amoreena · 19/12/2022 20:03

Yes the sub zero temperatures were a bit much. The central heating was straining away for hours and like the other poster I end up with skin problems (plus it makes my eyes dry) Nice to wake up to it toasty and only clicking on occasionally. Nice not to have ice outside too. Bit windy today though. My mini Christmas tree got blown off the front window ledge

Meredusoleil · 19/12/2022 20:05

I'm the first one to say how much I hate the rain, but even I was glad to see the back of those sub zero temperatures in favour if some wind and rain!

Pterrydactyl · 19/12/2022 20:06

Oh yes.

I accidentally left my gloves at home this morning, and I was very happy that it was warm enough for me to not actually need the gloves outside 🙂

Always4Brenner · 19/12/2022 20:07

Yes w0nt need the hour heating in the bedroom tonight much better today.

TonTonMacoute · 19/12/2022 20:08

Yes, but it's been absolutely pouring with rain all day and all the roads round us are flooded, so swings and roundabouts ...

SlashBeef · 19/12/2022 20:09

I hear you. I struggled with the sub zero temps and felt thoroughly depressed. I have lost 6 stone this year and my god its the first time I've missed the extra insulation!

QueenofLouisiana · 19/12/2022 20:09

Yes! I was out at 6.20 this morning to take DS to work- it smelled “warm” almost like when you get off an aeroplane abroad. But it was almost 18 degrees warmer than it had been 24 hours earlier.

Anjelika · 19/12/2022 20:11

I am ecstatic. Came out of a supermarket earlier and could not believe how warm it was! Came home and actually turned the heating off as it felt too warm in the house!!

5IsTheMagicNumber · 19/12/2022 20:11

Today is the 1st time in over a week our house temperature has been over 11° we have been so grateful for the rise in temperature.

Hiphopopotamus · 19/12/2022 20:14

Sorry nope - I’ve loved the super cold sub zero snowy icy weather. It’s made me feel healthy and full of life breathing in that cold air. This mild windy rain shite is just miserable. I’d be happy if our winters were full of the weather of the past week.

Laiste · 19/12/2022 20:14

I had to nip out (in jim jams) to the car to get something out of it early this morning.

I opened the front door and braced myself. Shot out, all hunched up, and half way down the drive straightened up and thought ''hang on. it's not cold!'' 😂

FourChimneys · 19/12/2022 20:16

Yes, the lack of cold has been a treat. While we're not struggling with the bills we are trying to be careful. Today we have had hardly any heating on at all and I opened all the upstairs windows to let some fresh air blow through.

tillyandmilly · 19/12/2022 20:18

No ! Hate the rain so miserable! At least with the cold you can wrap up and enjoy the crisp weather with the ☀️

Bluevelvetsofa · 19/12/2022 20:22

For the first time ever, I didn’t mind the rain, because I wasn’t shivering, wearing layers and layers and unable to get warm. I found it emotionally challenging too.

You can keep your crisp days. I don’t want to be wrapped up like the Michelin man, still cold and struggling to move around.

Winter is just an abomination with nothing to recommend it.

I’m with you I absolutely loved the cold snap, I wish it was like it all winter, I’m fortunate that I can afford to heat my home without worrying about the cost though and I work from home as well, I loved looking out of my office onto the snowy landscape and when I did venture out I could wear my proper winter clothes which don’t see the light of day much, I agree the cold air feels healthier than the damp and mild.

cushioncovers · 19/12/2022 20:26

Yes it's been raining and windy but not cold thank goodness
