Does anyone actually get through 2 hours of Scott Mills in the afternoon?

I find I have to switch him off! I can't believe he's got this job Confused.

Last week I heard him forcing Sam Ryder to agree to sing at his wedding. CRINGE.

Today he's just phoned a boring woman who seemed utterly underwhelmed to hear from him and it was supposed to be a big surprise call and it all fell flat. CRINGE AGAIN.

To me he has the persona of the pub bore.

Come on Radio 2!!

He’s awful! He’s even worse than Steve wright and I never thought I’d say that.

I never enjoyed Steve Wright, but Scott Mills is so boring. He has such a monotone voice, that I don't understand how he ever got this far in radio. I used to hate when he just filled in for people, but now every day is awful.

No, he is professional but terribly bland. Not just boring but he SOUNDS bored too.

I usually have to turn it off, he sounds bored and is boring. Dd said he was good on radio one, did he have much more freedom there? This is so scripted and dull. I didn’t love Steve Wright and that show was stale but I’d quite like him to be reinstated. He must be losing listeners.

I used to find him funny on Radio 1 but I think he's been told to tone it down on Radio 2 and he isn't his usual self.

He is dreadful and I don't like sara Cox either so R2 goes off at 12 now as Jeremy vine is annoying too.

I used to love him on Radio 1 but agree he’s coming across as very boring on Radio 2. I wonder if he works better with someone else to bounce off, like he did with Chris Stark?

How funny I was driving and heard that. It was disappointment heaped upon let down heaped upon underwhelmed people.

Yes he’s really boring - I miss Steve Wright! I also get the feeling he doesn’t actually want to be there and misses radio one.

I just miss Paul O'Grady so badly it hurts. Well not really but y'know..
They seem to keep pushing the following people onto everything:
Sally traffic
Sam Ryder
rylan
The other fella from strictly (I think) but can't remember his name but on Zoe's show.

I'm bored with it now and if one more fucking DJ refers to a mediocre song as a 'banger' I'll hurl the radio out of the window. I even caught Tony Blackburn saying it yesterday and he's old enough to know better.

Glad it's not just me. I usually turn him off after about 10 minutes. Agree with everything you've said. His boring voice, repeating things over and over. Yes, they should have kept OJ Borg if they wanted rid of Steve Wright.

Agree, SM certainly has nothing about him that makes me want to listen. I turn off when Vine is on and listen to either CD's or Classic FM over lunchtime, I now extend that until SM is over.

I like Nicki Chapman, Ken Bruce and adore the loons that are Sara Cox and Liza Tarbuck. Gary Davies is a good stand-in and it is a shame that the duo of Alan & Mel don't seem to be on anymore.

Oh for the heady days of Wogan with Janet & John! 🤣

Yes I agree, found myself turning off but didn't register why.. just bored. Even Rylan on Saturdays who I did love, has turned a bit....umm too 'in jokes' and cackling with all his side kicks. At least Sara Cox is funny!

I turn R2 off at midday too Greensleevs. Although I've warmed up to Sara Cox and I'll put her on but I think 3 hours is overkill.

I also miss Paul O'Grady Sad.

It's definitely a balancing act radio wise for me - Radio 6 first thing, then turn over when Mary Ann Hobbs comes on (too much techno & dance), to radio 2, then back over at 1pm to 6music for Craig Charles! It's an actual tightrope 😆

I don't mind him, liked him on Radio 1 and like him on 2, but I do think it comes through that he's maybe a bit embarrassed or indignant to be on radio 2. I don't think he outgrew Radio 1 and wanted to change his style, he was pushed because of his age and it was this or commercial radio or obscurity. Might have it wrong, but R1 have form for culling at a certain age - I can understand it but it doesn't make sense when he was still so popular. He might have done better on a weekend - replacing Claudia if i had my way.

Nothing will ever beat Mark and Lard though, so my bar is on the floor!

Perhaps Scott Mills's salary requests are less than some other people. Or as I have long suspected about Steve Wright, they know something which is being kept quiet about someone.

I found myself getting increasingly selective with Radio 2. I’m so selective now that I don’t listen to any of it.

I'm in the minority but I liked Steve Wright. I think if they'd have just changed his show a bit (I admit it was a tired format) it would have improved. Steve's got a lot more personality than Scott Mills, that's for sure, and more of a natural humour. It's so boring now I switch off at 2.

I liked Steve Wright but I remember when his afternoon show was on R1. Scott Mills is dire. The only R2 show I used to turn over was Elaine Paige on a Sunday as I can't stand her or musicals but yesterday I turned over to local radio at 1pm and haven't bothered to turn back. I can't stand C Winkelman either so Saturday mornings are out too.

Never. It’s such a shame. I find there is just an edge to him that I can’t get beyond. Just ever so slightly nasty or something. Kind of like Chris Evans. Really miss Steve tbh.

Wasn’t a fan of OJ either or Vernon Kay either.

No and I hated Steve Wright.

Radio 2 has turned into some retirement home for R 1 djs who've managed to avoid scandal.

Apart from Popmaster there is no need for regular chat with listeners on R2.
