Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just enjoying my first cuppa of the day, in silence. The only sound atm is the fridge humming to itself. I've been watching a pair of magpies on the roof opposite, but they've just flown away.

We're off to Sheffield Christmas market today, for a wander. I'm looking forward to choosing another candle from the Yorkshire Candle Company, and maybe a new glass bauble for my tree. The girls want fudge, which will, of course, cost several pounds for a couple of pieces 🙄

I want to look for something else for my dad for Christmas too.

Meadowhall on the way back, to pick up a couple of things dd2 has asked for from a shop there, for her birthday in 2 weeks.

We'll probably eat out - not sure what yet. Maybe something from the market, maybe something from the food court in Sheffield, we'll see.

Home this evening to chill & probably have an early night!

First, the washer needs to go on, and I need to get the girls up!

I always read this thread but never reply but today is the day I will
I'm having a cup of coffee and watching the news. The first time I've been home in the morning all week as my youngest is in hospital after an operation. DH took over sleep over duties last night so I could come home. Later, I'm going to pick up a bed frame from marketplace as he has a bunk bed and he won't be able to climb in at the moment. I'm going to take my oldest son out for coffee and cake later as he'd been missing me (and me him). Will pop back to the hospital for a visit later and then go out for my work Christmas meal which DH is insisting I go to. I really just want to go to bed early 😂

I was going to be sorting out the dining room as we moved house last week and it's full of boxes. Then we were going to put the tree up and decorate it.

Instead I'll be making a 4 hour round trip to collect DS1 who fell over in the ice yesterday and broke his arm. He lives rurally and obviously now can't drive so he's coming to us for a few days whilst he works out what to do ☹️

Dh and 2 of 3 dc are getting dressed to go to park run. I'm considering getting up. My plan is to blitz kitchen and bathroom while they are out then post park run breakfast. After that we need to go buy a Christmas tree and decorate.

Tea in bed, prevaricating before a) facing the reality of what I need to get done for Christmas and b) actually doing some of it.

dh is working this afternoon/evening and the kids have flown the nest so there is no excuse.

I will treat myself to a burger and sweet potato fries from the yummy burger van for supper. My secret.

I've just done an 8 mile run on the treadmill, now going to walk two labs. Then off to Chester to start my Christmas shopping (I'm dreading it!)

I'll do some callanetics later, walk the dogs again and then relax with a g and t and halloumi fries x

Just having a cup of coffee in bed , then off to find boxes to put the contents of my kitchen in ready for the new one being fitted in January. Need to return a dress from Next as it makes me look like a stuffed tomato, then last couple of presents need wrapping. I forced myself out last night to do a food shop so feeling all pleased with myself 😊

I am lounging in bed appreciating a rest as I have a funny virus this week. Contemplating outstanding Christmas shopping.
Will pop to a local gorgeous specialist food shop for some Christmas bits then hairdresser later.

Having a cup of tea in bed while DH and DS still sleep. Late night last night but I don't sleep beyond 8. I'm off to work, DS is taking his new girlfriend ice skating and DH has his dad and step mum coming round (they aren't bothered about seeing me or DS). They only come because it's their duty to and they're coming earlier than ever this year for their Christmas visit 🙄.
This evening it's Christmas film and party food night. Have treated us to some M&S party food after a long and crappy week and I've got a lovely bottle of wine with my name on it in the fridge 😁.

Up at half five for a coffee in peace. About to go dog walking, then lamp shopping.
This afternoon, DH is cooking us a “date lunch” whilst I wrap presents (all of which I have bought, because whilst DH is generally a good egg, he is Uber shite at buying presents for anyone but me!)

We've woken to heavy snow! Currently sitting with a coffee watching huge flakes fall. DH has topped up the bird feeders and we are watching flocks of tits, starlings and finches. Waiting to see if kids' activities are on this morning or not. Off to see a pantomime this afternoon, then takeaway and strictly final this evening

I'm having a cup of tea and watching baby DD charge up and down the living room. In a bit I'll go and have a shower and then I'm going to try to find where I put the Christmas wrapping paper from last year. If I can find it, I'm going to wrap DD's presents.

DH was at a Christmas party last night. He's doing the weekend food shop on his way home. Once he's back he's going to install a new stair gate to block off the kitchen from aforementioned charging baby.

We have no plans at all for the afternoon. I'd like to go out and do something vaguely wintery but everywhere is very busy. I might just take DD for a walk around the snowy fields.

I'm still in bed having a cup of tea. Planning on doing a bit more Christmas wrapping before I go back to work next week. Tonight we are taking the dc to the luminate show in the national botanical Gardens. We are planning to stop off for a pub dinner on our way home.

Love these threads too, was going to have a lazy day but my friend just asked if I like to go to Abergavenny (beautiful Welsh town ) there’s a Christmas fair in the market. We will stop off at a lovely garden centre on the way back, the scenery around the area is breathtaking 😊

Love these threads. I’m on the sofa with a cup of tea, under a heated blanket and with my 2.5 year old. My 5yr old is pottering about, DH turn for a lie in. I’ve recently changed jobs which has been great but super busy so the house has gone to ruin, I’ve booked a cleaner for Tuesday so today is the pre-tidy!

Tea in the kitchen, slightly more relaxed than it should have been.
My plan was lunch and a wander in the city, which is still happening but also manic stocking present buying because it looks like my ex now won't be having the children Christmas eve/day so I need to prepare incase

Our cleaner is back from her 3 week holiday so I'm really excited about that. I'm taking my 1 year old to a new SW class so thatl be interesting. I'm then going for a bra fitting and Xmas shopping while my husband takes DD to her swimming lesson, then tonight we’ll have a nice bowl of pasta and some red wine and watch a film. Hopefully a nice relaxing day!

Today is the first day of the Xmas holidays for us so it’s usually the day we have our North Pole breakfast, but this year 2 of the 4 Dc are unwell so for the first ever time I’m postponing it
Was up all night with the 4 year old screaming in pain (ear infection) and checking on the asthmatic 13 year old with a chest infection so I think today will be a day of chilling under blankets watching Xmas films and praying the 4 year old is up to the Santa visit we have booked for tomorrow 🤞🏼
Gutted for them they’re unwell at Xmas 😔

Its DS 10th birthday today - we have a family tea planned with M&S party food then its my work Christmas party tonight. At some point I need to wrap presents and vlean the kitchen

Morning! I’m currently under a blanket on the sofa as it’s freezing here this morning. We have the heating on but the house hasn’t warmed up yet. I’m just waiting for my food shop to be delivered then I’ll have to pop to the shop up the road to buy cat food as we’ve run out and I forgot to add it to my order. Oops!

Dh is at work today, dd8 was meant to be going to a birthday party at a roller rink this morning and I was going to do the Christmas drinks shopping and do a few jobs in town whilst she was there but she slept terribly last night and has woken up this morning looking pale and with a temperature so it’s a day of cuddling on the sofa instead - the other stuff can wait.

Then this evening dh is on duty as I’m off out for dinner and a few drinks with my two sisters which I’m really looking forward to.

I am having breakfast at a Holiday Inn express as we are visiting BIL and SIL this weekend. And as I am the perfect MN trained guest we booked a hotel rather than landing on them the weekend before Christmas!

We’re off to Gloucester Quays shortly for a bit of shopping and lunch at Wagamamas.

Going to the pub tonight to see BILs band play.

I am currently laying on the sofa with my dd underneath multiple blankets. I have lots to do as tomorrow I am going on a Christmas cruise with dh for a couple of nights child free! The house is my priority right now as after a very busy week it has really taken a hit. Have a great day everyone.

Had coffee and toast just now and would normally be heading out for a run but instead baking a birthday cake for DD which she will be decorating later.

I’m in Pret with a bacon roll and a coffee, about to have nails done, then going to the theatre with DD later. Am running on paracetamol currently, hoping to be in bed by 8pm.

In bed still, dc still asleep. Savouring silence. We’ll have a slow day and a dog walk today followed by pantomime this evening. Have been waiting for this quiet day all week!
