Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just enjoying my first cuppa of the day, in silence. The only sound atm is the fridge humming to itself. I've been watching a pair of magpies on the roof opposite, but they've just flown away.

We're off to Sheffield Christmas market today, for a wander. I'm looking forward to choosing another candle from the Yorkshire Candle Company, and maybe a new glass bauble for my tree. The girls want fudge, which will, of course, cost several pounds for a couple of pieces 🙄

I want to look for something else for my dad for Christmas too.

Meadowhall on the way back, to pick up a couple of things dd2 has asked for from a shop there, for her birthday in 2 weeks.

We'll probably eat out - not sure what yet. Maybe something from the market, maybe something from the food court in Sheffield, we'll see.

Home this evening to chill & probably have an early night!

First, the washer needs to go on, and I need to get the girls up!

Good morning. I am contemplating getting my shower, whilst DH makes tea. Then more washing, hang up last night's load, make bread, general tidy up and check the oldest lab.
She has a dry nose, which was bleeding last night and the poor love was in a lot of pain. She will keep poking her snout into the frozen ground, looking for mice, so DH will try and handle this on this morning's walk.
I apply ointment, which she then tries to lick off. I try and get her to take some crushed paracetamol in some food, which the other lab immediately wants to eat.
She will be kept in today and watched/pampered.

DS2 is on his way up to see us but the traffic jam was so bad last evening, he stayed in a Travelodge overnight. I'm just hoping the traffic and weather conditions are good enough today.
(I told him that he didn’t have to come and see the aged P's in these conditions, we could catch up when conditions are better, but he has some friends to see as well)

I will make chicken curry for DS and I'm also making Eton Mess to take to our coven later tonight. We are doing our Yule ritual and I need to snatch some time to go over my part in it.
I have to wrap the Secret Satan (joking!) present, as well as the presents for DS to take back.

Good morning all, hope everyone is ok. This is my first weekend in ages where I haven’t had to rush off somewhere with work/prep for holiday/been laid low with a heavy cold and cough. Going to be productive today and get the tree bought and up, wrap all presents and work out what is left to do. My DH has taken on so much more prep this year as I’ve been so busy/under the weather (he’s not very decisive normally, especially around things like buying presents for small children). We’ll also pop to the market and see if we can pick up
some bits for the freezer and maybe a ham, then later we’ll put the candles on, have ab easy dinner and watch strictly, hopefully feeling very Christmassy!

Morning all. I am currently drinking coffee and boiling some eggs for egg sandwiches later.

Will take DS to swimming lesson this morning then a friend's birthday party this afternoon.

Then I need to pick up MIL who is babysitting tonight so me and DH can go out for a pre-Christmas drink. As MIL will be here for a bit before we go out I might be able to sneak in some present wrapping.

I'm going for breakfast and then onto the theatre to watch a pantomime with a friend then home later for lots of cuddles with my girls a watch a xmas movie with popcorn 🍿 😊

Morning! I’m about to have a bath. DP and DD are downstairs, playing a ball game of their own devising.
When DD’s carers get here, DP and I will go out, get the Christmas tree and a spot of lunch.
I’ve got to go and have a blood test this afternoon and then may pop in on my dad, who’s come down with The Cold, and see if he needs anything.
We’ll probably save putting the tree up until tomorrow. Am hoping tonight will be spent eating leftover Chinese takeaway and then lighting some candles, putting music on and wrapping presents.

Having my second coffee and contemplating the laundry pile. Dh and Ds are defrosting the car ready to go and get the Christmas tree. Ds is playing in a concert this afternoon (the last of 18 different musical events we've been in collectively across the family this month so far) and then we are DONE. Planning to get takeaway on the way home from the concert then watch a Christmas movie tonight.

Saturday morning
No football, cricket, archery, orchestra, swimming.....,

DH, DS and DD still all in bed.

No call from DM saying her heating has packs up/dog is ill or anything that needs my attention.

I'm drinking tea in my PJs and watching Christmas Rom Coms. I recommend "Your Christmas or Mine" on Prime. It has an air of Richard Curtis about it.

I'm still in bed which is unheard of!
Dh is taking the 2 ds to have a kick about at an indoor football place with their mates as all football is off this weekend and they were disappointed.
Dd1 stayed at her boyfriends last night and is going straight to work.
Ds2 is in bed.
I'm making mince pies with ds1 this afternoon and maybe the Nutella pastry xmas tree I see all over Instagram

Dd2 is still in bed not ds!

I love these threads. A deliberately quiet and chilled day today as we are travelling lots across the country between now and Friday.

Me and Ds made chocolate chip pancakes this morning. Half were scoffed for breakfast with Nutella and the other half are in the freezer for Christmas Day.

Put some washing on and got the bread maker on ready for lunch and now we are snuggled under the heated throw on our respective tablets.

Swimming this afternoon and then an early night as we travel to Mousehole area to visit family tomorrow. Which reminds me we also need to wrap and write the rest of our Christmas cards. Perhaps after lunch!

Oh do have a lovely time in Mousehole 🕊☘️ I’m hoping for a voucher for the Coastguard for Christmas - spending day steaming puddings making mince pies and trying to track online orders - 👍🏿☘️🎄

Also love these threads! DH went off early for work. I've done some washing and had a tidy round. DS 15 I'd currently catching up on some coursework then he's meeting a friend in the local town. I'm going to my parents for lunch before braving the shops. Takeaway and Strictly final later!!

I'm in saving mode so I'm going to have a quiet and peaceful day. Perhaps read my book, watch a film, do a guided meditation, but relax. I will go for a short walk later - it's still snowing here. I have an invitation to go to dinner locally but also want to save so will see if I get swayed or not!

It's finally feeling christmassy here in the decaf house, 5 out of 6 have us been ill this week with the dreaded cold that going round but we are finally feeling better now!

Had a cosy quiet morning, DC just pottering around.

I need to nip to the village to get teacher presents, nothing like being last minute 😂

After lunch we are off to a nature reserve for some fresh air and winter sun, there's a winter kids trail on we love a good trail.

Home via McDonald's for tea!

DH out on works night out this evening so I'm doing bath and bed etc solo then once DC asleep im going to settle down with a Christmas film not sure what yet, and wrap some presents!

All my plans for today have gone by the wayside as I've got the customary end-of-term lurgy. Not Covid, thank goodness, but feel like death.
So, an enforced day of rest. I might try and wrap some presents later.

I'm recovering from flu. Fever gone, chest has cleared, headache minimal but still very weak. Quiet day for me indoors but I'm making a Christmas food shop list as I've fallen behind due to illness.

Going to put a film on and then drive around Cornwall tonight in search for a Christmassy half pint in a toasty pub x

Driving DD2 back from Cardiff Uni to Kent. We’re literally driving home for Christmas 😁

I visited York for the first time in October and bought a candle from that company, it was delightful! I've since bought one from John Lewis which came nowhere close.

I also went to Meadowhall, it's so huge and I was terrified of getting lost! I live on the IW so it's a bit different here.

Any minute now I will remove myself from the bed and get ready to head out. Beautiful morning out there so going to head for a walk and clear the head and then pop by the shop for bits. Fancy an afternoon bath with facemask etc and a glass of wine and then fajitas for dinner with the kids as have cancelled a night out tonight. Not feeling too social. DP will be coming here tomorrow :)

I woke up at 11.00 am.

I now have my 1-year-old Grandson for the day- he lives with us anyway, but mum and dad are going Xmas shopping. He is currently playing with spinning tops with my husband.

I will get him down for a nap and read for a bit. Might take him to the garden centre later to look at the Xmas lights etc. Or I might just stay in.

Maybe put up the Christmas tree this evening.

DSS came back from uni for Christmas last night, so we stayed up ridiculously late with drinks and a takeaway and films.. so I stayed in bed until 12 (they're still in bed - they drank much more than me!)

I've just had a brew and some toast, sitting in the living room with my Christmas tree lights on. Going to have a pretty chilled afternoon, just a bit of housework to do, then going to a Christmas concert this evening (me and DP in the concert, DSS watching us with my family).

Then probably coming home and watching a film before another late night.

We make the most of these times as he's at his mum's for actual Christmas this year (though this is his official home).

ive done a small online iceland shop this morning it will be here later going to do a work out soon and enjoy my peace as i do every day i live alone and love it also doing my nails to day .
