I've been reading the Rivers of London books recently and I love them and I'd love to see a TV adaptation of them (already I've cast Regé-Jean Page as Peter Grant). Also I would love to see Secret History by Donna Taart.

Anyone else have any ideas for book to TV.

Magician by Raymond E Feist and his other books

Although tbh after seeing what was done to some of the other fantasy series, I’m not sure that is a good idea.

Maybe tv series of something like Philippa Ashley or some other chick lit sort of books.

Oh, I would love this, but it would be terrible. They'd do a WoT on it and it wouldn't work nearly as well as it has done there (despite the issues I think it's a good show).

I always enjoyed the original film of The Running Man, then read the book. The film is nothing like the book, and thought the book would have been a much better film. I really wish they had made that version instead.

Yes to Rivers of London and The Dresden Files done properly, and I would like to add J.D. Robb's In Death series.

The rest of the Narnia series,
Kommondants girl and the diplomats wife,
And I know it's not a book, but I'd love a movie of the stage show Wicked! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Rendezvous with Rama. I have such a vivid picture in my head and would love to see another interpretation. Imbd says it's in production but no other info, so I don't think it's coming anytime soon.

Au Bonheur des dames by Emile Zola (am aware how wanky and pretentious that sounds). But it’s an amazing book and would be great as a period drama. Unfortunately the BBC did a travesty of a series called The Paradise which was loosely based on the storyline and it was a pale imitation of the book.

Philippa Gregory's Wideacre trilogy.

And a true to book version of Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic (plus sequels)

Oh yes! The wideacre trilogy would be amazing!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 15/12/2022 19:48

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

I really thought Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult was written to be adapted into a film. I'm surprised it hasn't been yet.

Elly Griffiths archaeologist murder series featuring Dr Ruth Galloway (played, in my head by lovely Nicola Walker!)

And C J Samson's Shardlake series

I have so many actors cast in these as I read each novel I'm amazed at the BBC for not calling me and asking me to cast and direct them!!!

In my head, Ruth Galloway is played by Ruth Jones.

There is a film about Irena Sendler.

Thecrackineverything · 15/12/2022 20:26

The Shardlake books.

Wafflefudge · 15/12/2022 20:30

@LabradorsLoveSausages I love Brother of the more famous Jack and think it would make a great film. I was in love with the Goldman family.

I'd like to see a series of The Throne of Glass books as well

Wafflefudge · 15/12/2022 20:32

Hated The Chronicles of St Mary's, always confused by all the fans.

mouche202 · 15/12/2022 20:39

The Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 15/12/2022 21:07

I was also going to say Rivers of London but with Jacob Anderson as Peter.

reddingweddy · 15/12/2022 21:10

The Flashman books,

GrouchyKiwi · 15/12/2022 21:11

Well that didn't work. Ooops!

Anyway. This is Royce Pierson (he played Istredd in The Witcher). He's my choice for Peter Grant.

*Royce Pierreson.

Argh. Sorry. I'm going to go drink some tea now.

GoAgainstNicki · 15/12/2022 21:14

Freedom’s child by Jax Miller. An amazimg read!

StayWeird · 15/12/2022 21:24

I came on to suggest C J Samson's Shardlake series but can see it's already had a mention Grin

It would make the most amazing tv series, I'm surprised it hasn't been done already!

LlareggubTripAdviser · 15/12/2022 21:29

The Thursday murder club..

So many fabulous actors to call upon but surely Helen Mirren has to be Elizabeth...
